- The closest thing POI has to a body swap episode.
Episode summary:
With the Machine now fully decompressed and Root unable to go above ground until the Machine can reinstate her rotating identities, Finch decides to use Reese and Fusco to run a surveillance test. Following malfunctions in the facial recognition system, Reese and Finch steal 64 next-generation graphics-processing GPU blade servers which, once connected to the networked PlayStation 3s, Finch and Root use to reboot the Machine at full power. When the Machine shows signs that it's failing to place threats in context, Root and Finch have it run a contextual background on them, leading to it identifying them as threats, and locking them out of the system. The Machine has lost the ability to differentiate between past and present, so is forced to relive the 42 times Finch killed it and unable to determine that Root and Reese have changed. With Reese waylaid by an assassin the Machine has sent after him, Root puts herself under an anaesthetic so the Machine cannot use her cochlear implant against her, and Finch has to convince the Machine that he and the rest of the team are not a threat. Upon the Machine's first reboot, it provided 30 different numbers, most of whom were not involved in violent crimes; however, one of those numbers, Jeff Blackwell (Josh Close), an ex-con with a violent past, was dismissed as someone who was not involved in any nefarious activity, only to be recruited by Samaritan.

The actors definitely had a LOT of fun with that opener XD
Not only is this hilarious, it also portrays the cast’s incredible talent...love this so much...
Could not have put it better.
I don't think there will be another show like it for a long time.
@@redriverscout4404 If only they had Sarah Shahi for this scene.
Red River Scout tottaly agree
Amy Acker and Sarah Shahi becoming series regulars in Season 3, elevated the already great TV Show into the stratosphere. The comedy elements and banter were always amongst the best bits. My all-time favourite TV show bar none.
Possibly the funniest opener to a show I've seen :D Almost makes me wish they'd done a full episode like this. Acker's Finch is creepily perfect, and Caviezels' Fusco is hilarious. Love it.
What about Emerson as Root ?
@@jayadevmenon7086
Not good as Caviezel’s Chapman, isn’t it?😏
This shows meta comedy is golden. Also Root acting like Reese was uhhhhh
terrible actress, too much smiling. John rarely smiled. A small smirk maybe.
Root slapping Finch’s ass is so funny
“Are you taking fashion risks?”
Such good dialogue
Lionel/Root: "Hi there pretty."
I love how fusco throws jokes around randomly sometimes even in hard situations it always cracks me up😂😂
The cast read for this scene must have been hilarious.
Harold's Reese impersonation OMG 🤣🤣
The Machine's assets list:

Harold Finch

Sameen Shaw
Joss Carter
Lionel Fusco
Rick Dillinger
Harper Rose
Jason Greenfield
Daniel Casey
Tatsuro Daizo
Nathan Ingram is not an asset anymore as he is dead
Same for Carter
@@mrsaxophone4765 But they're both still on the list. In this episode TM is unstuck in time so it can't recognize if people are alive or not.
Add Logan Pierce and that Bank Robber turned Vigilante from the first season to that list :)
It would've been funny to see Nathan and Carter as Root 😂😂
This is so funny, but it also shows how much skill the actors have in playing alter-ego roles.
1:16 Harold/Root and their long hair xD
Yup, for me that's the funniest part, Michael does Amy so well. But of course she returns the favor a few seconds later.
@@mydogskips2 "...in order"
@@mydogskips2 But Kevin was the one having most fun
This scene is sooo hilarious especially that butt slap at 3:15 LMAO xD
Ooooh yeeeessss 😹😹😻🔥🔥😈🤤
LMAO, they are all doing impressions of each other
I'd watch a show with multiple Amy Ackers, Orphan Black style, but with more humor and nerdiness.
Did you ever watch the episodes they made of the show _Dollhouse_ (I think was the name) that she was in?
It is like "Bad Liar" from Selena Gomez.
Oh yes, I would too. Amy is so amazingly talented. We really haven't seen enough of her in my opinion.
Haha, the beginning of this episode gets me every time. I love it.
AHAHAHAA THE MACHINE ON CRACK WITH THE FACIAL RECOGNITION I COULDNT STOP LAUGHING
For a sci-fi action/adventure, this show had a lot of laughs.
Root's pretty hot with glasses :)
She's hot regardless 😊
"Molecules"
@@mindya1799 I understood that reference.
@@math9172
haha
Finally
This is one of the episodes/scenes that deviates from the procedural norm into comedy that is grounded in reason and logically it affirms the shows talent from the idea board to the acting.
1:09 he's more Fusco than Fusco
4 Roots are WAYYY Hotter than just 1.
The Machine: you know what? Screw it, let's make everyone from my team Root. She's so gorgeous 😍😍😍
I love Root (Fusco) commenting Root's (John) statement. While Root (Finch) reacting to the statement. While Root (Root) gives her 2 cents. And Root (Finch) turn head to react.
yeah, it's interesting how in the end, everyone became Root.
@@mydogskips2 And funny as hell 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ok hear me out: Person of Interest, everything is the same except every character (including extras) is played by Amy Acker.
So, basically, everyone from Team Machine is Root?
Kudos to Amy Acker. I have been watching the whole series for the 4th time and it occurred to me this time that Amy can do believable impressions of all of them. Shes the talent here. BTW.... I recommend everyone watch the entire series start to finish slowly and pay attention to every bit. They nailed AI and what we are in for.
I didn't know it listed Harper Rose as an asset. I knew she was later but didn't know this early. Cool!
I just saw this too! The seeds were there!
Harper Rose was already an asset prior to this episode.
Harold reminds me of DATA. The way he acts and speaks. Like they were from the same nerdsville colony... 😂😂😂
if shaw was on this part she would be the funniest one between them
Harold's face when root slaps his bottom
Fantastic and creative scene
Did anyone else noticed that Dillinger, Harper and Greenfield were already recognized as assets of the machine for first time?
Root is driving Finch crazy as his roommate, but then again, she'd drive anybody crazy if she was their roommate. Although I have to admit that I do like the lava lamp as I have one and need a lightbulb.
This scene was awesome 😎
best scene of the whole series
Personal bias, I love when a show is established enough to poke fun at itself. This was it. :)
I only wish we had a musical number somewhere in there.
maybe an episode where Reese had to sing on stage, but midway through is just "actually..." pulls out gun and shoots the hitman running on stage, look at the audience and in his raspy tone just says "thats all, folks. Go home" and steps back as the curtain falls.
A musical number?
Really?
Nope.
We're NOT gonna take it.
😉
I freaking love this, might be the best part
Amy acker is multifacetic 🤣
Loopy Root is amazing.
And hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂
This scene was hilarious!
Best part of the show!
Root- Reese, hilarious 😂😂
Keep posting Clips, i ll shoot some knees and get my own intel!
Also the machine seems to favor assuming people are root :p
Mouthwash, floss ... black nail polish? You taking fashion risks?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's too bad Sarah wasn't there to be a part of this. I wonder what she would've thought about it, if she was relieved or disappointed she wasn't there?
she was pregnant. but she must have rooted for the team
@@glowiever Yes, of course, but I mean, Sarah missed having to do impressions of the other cast members. Does she feel like she missed out on the fun, or was she relieved she didn't have to act silly on camera? I'd guess the former, but me, I'd feel the latter.
BRING PERSON OF INTEREST BACK
Hey! Do you have any Shaw scenes from season 4?
I do! I'm working my way through S3 right now and then will do S4, no worries!
+Root & Shaw thank you so much !
ik this ep is old but i recall one ep where the train moves
Last episode of the season, I believe...
I have old laptops that work like that. Different manufacturers same software.
Its a shame .,team disabled.. Sometimes we just got to go our own way.,,,i know I just want go home back to new York.,buy myself..,,maybe I hang with the model,,,only here.,I just need the private life now ..
😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
it's a shame that they ran out of fun exciting storylines
It was mostly a decision from the producers to finish the show the way it did but probably not because they were running out of ideas. Shows that go on for double digit seasons tend to go stale and viewers lose interest. The producers of POI were smart to recognize this and they ended the show on their terms instead of the network pulling the plug on them.
@@hawkeye5955 I want you to explain how grey's anatomy & NCIS are still going strong. Not being insulting but what you said gave me a view that i never considered before.
@@hawkeye5955 Viewers were already losing interest in the show, I believe season 5 had the lowest ratings for the series. And they did not go out on their own terms, the show was canceled, i.e. the plug was pulled on them. The writers/producers simply did the best they could with the short order of episodes they had left. And I believe that despite what they said, the writers were running out of ideas, they pushed the concept of AI and surveillance as far as they could and there was little left but to bring the show to a climactic end.
@@GAMBANJUJJJ theyre going strong but they arent *good*.ones a soap opera and the other a relatively uninspired procedural.
They didn't. They had already predicted way to many things that turned out to be true, the Gov shut them down 😉
Haha, the beginning of this episode gets me every time. I love it.
