- This was without a doubt one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Memphis.
As we were heading in to the Double Deuce to tape Eddie Smith we saw Richard setting up in front of the New Daisy Theater and noticed another band across the street decide to start breaking down. When we came out we could see why the other band left.Richard had everyone on Beale gathered and was tearing it up! My first visit to Memphis & Beale Street, this amazing bass was just overtaking every other sound ; I followed my ears down to the end of Beale St. and there was Richard. My heart was just TRIPPIN'! Simply amazing!
sure do miss those days
My awesome dad would take me down to Beale when I was in high school, and He was stationed with the Navy nearby... In front of the New Daisy, down at the end was where it was at. First time I heard him, I was playing inside with a local metal band. 2003, 2004. They had to drag me away from the front doorstep. Still playing music. Richard Johnston is burnt into my subconscious... Just heard the latest Black Keys album, and they do a couple of his staples...
I love and miss this Man so much.memphis has my heart
