How to save money: learn how to read frequency response graphs.
Edit: another thing to mention is about knowing your prefered tonality. It doesn't make sense spending 2000U$ in an IEM that's safe and bassy if you like a more energetic and sparkling sound signature.

This a great video especially for those just starting out like me who just got into IEMs last quarter of 2022 when a lot of budget $20 to $100 IEMs were coming out almost every week. Been jumping on the Hype train since I got the Moondrop Chu and Kato, 7hz Dioko, TinHifi C2, Truthear Zero and Hexa, just to try out different Signatures so I can find out what I like. I depend on reviewers like you, Crinacle, Super Review and Hawaii Bad Boy to help me decide what the next IEM to get.

What about single (DD or BA), multiple (DD+DD or BA+BA), and hybrid (DD+BA) drivers?
What about the chamber space an the meterials inside the IEMs sound conduct?
Yeah, it was somewhat useful but you didn't talk about how to choose the technology. I mean, do you think that frequency graphs alone can tell everything? I'm not sure about it. How to wisely choose an IEM online? Unfortunately, I didn't get the answer here, but I've appreciated some of the tips.

Speaking of EQ, I just want to share that firmware updates to the Qudelix 5K have doubled the frequency bands possible from 10 to 20 bands of parametric or graphic EQ… OR you can have two 10 band channels so you can separately equalize for differences in left and right ears and/or inconsistencies between left and right drivers

Hello, I hope someone can help me out here. I have a pair of UE 11 Pros with a sensitivity of 119 dB. I don't know what that means, but it works well with my Sony NW-A306. I recently purchased a Mytek Liberty DAC for my normal system and experience a very loud hissing when I plug the IEMs in. I know this has to do with the sensitivity of the IEMs, but what number should I have been looking at in the Mytek to know that this would occur?
Furthermore, is there any way to fix this, get some sort of accessory that will allow the 11s to match well with the normal headphone out of the Mytek?

Good talk, Timmy. I also prefer to have a set of 4 or 5 reviewers to check up on. Not because I agree all the time but I learn their taste in equipment and how they prefer their sound. I am mostly bound to my house and do all my purchase as blind buys. I have fixed a range price from really low to about $200 and try to spread the sound profiles so that I have something for different dacs and different listening events. Like now, I'm using my iKKO ITB03 on Bluetooth from FiiO BTA30 and the KZ x HBB iems. This is a great combo for listening to your voice and the background music but with another combo I can also obtain a nice sound and sometimes even better. Tha landscape is vast and I have enjoyed this hobby since the singles sales 2022. Not a very long time but a lot of purchases I can't tell my wife about. Looking forward to receiving the Galileo that I see got sent today. Keep up your good work. Happy smiles from an old dude from Norway.

Each driver type in the iems have their own signature. Some spikes allow to maximise the strengths of a driver.
Some dips allow to remove the bloat of the previous frequency ranges. And since no driver can perfectly reproduce every frequency, the stock tuning is usually the best for given iems. Spikes and dips are not necessarily defects. Also, ear canals have their own resonance graphs and they are not exactly the same for iems and headphones.

Im really really careful since i can't test IEM here unless you buy it, that is why i rely on reviewers, research and reading graph, i know reading graph may not give you the most accurate on how an IEM may sound but i just imagine on how it may sound or i just EQ my IEM on how the IEM might sound like. that is why before i bought the Quarks DSP i use the Moondrop Chu to EQ it like the Quarks DSP. i really love the Quarks DSP (i daily drive it more than my S12) and this is how i decide on how to buy a new IEM esp the market is really fast. its either you buy or skip

At the same time, I can't afford constant IEMs all the time. I don't have the money for it and I know he's explains that. My only issue is that whenever I might see and I am and review it as much as I can, in the end, the IEM I have bought doesn't give me the wow factor that I would be expecting that I hoped for. Maybe I've just set the bar to high for myself but as of right now I only have four IEMs. And the closest thing that I've gotten to a wow factor are the blessings 2. Loved my TinHifi T2, but they are slowly dying now. Any suggestion? T2s again, tho harder to get now? Same or a bit higher lv? I really liked, to me, crystalline highs there. And when plugged well with ok tip, basses were just enough to me too. So thinking about rebuying, tho 2x more expensive than these years ago, or trying something new, but not wanna be disappointed and not wanna spend 200 bucks as well. playing on Hi Res player . Read a lot about Moondrop brand, but not having tried. Just could try iBasso T01 which disappointed me a LOT by shabby basses (could not represent kickdrums well to my ears and too bassy). Enjoying all the small details and nuances in my music. I like metal, rock and classic music most. Thanks for tips.

Timmy, I'm gonna disagree with 2022 being the penultimate year of good budget IEMs. I'm gonna say 2019-2020 was the era of well tuned budget IEMs. That's what when KZ,CCA, Blon, Tin, TFZ, Moondrop, Thieaudio,Ikko and other all were having a budget IEM shootout left and right. Even those offerings may not compare to newer offerings, many that came out that explosion hold up to this day..like the Ikko OH-10 for example or the Moondrop KXXS. So 2022 for many here wasn't the start, as so much so, it was the moment the budget market matured for alot of us

Oh10 and KXXS are over $150, not really budget for most people lol.

Suggest me an IEM under 20$ for gaming (Pubg mobile), EDM songs and watching movie/series... I'm using KZ EDX Pro right now and I want to upgrade...

Quick Q: Since Dunu SA6 Ultra isn't around anymore, any IEM recommendation/alternatives that's quite similar to it? Something that's clear and pretty warm sounding that could be good for both vocals and instrumentals?

The OG SA6 isn't that far off from the Ultra tbh

These infos are great for many, while bother to some (mostly the “upgrade” part lol)
My commu now have to censor these kind of videos. So they can sell more “snake oil” stuffs and I have no power to stop newcomer to get baited, sadly.
keep up the good video timmy.
