I would never go to a car dealer ever unless I had absolutely no other choice, they are $$$$$$$$$ thieves. A small private owned service garage is a much better choice...
YOUCH DUDE!i!i! $840 to replace an alternator? = ( Granted I am not sure how much of a pain to work on those cars may be... but man... It is good to have friends to help you out, Like your buddy turning you on to AAA. When I got my first Jeep and needed a tow I saw the benefits of it right away! Especially if you plan to do some traveling and wheeling. Best WIshes
I am an old guy and have a policy of changing out my battery every five years. I do this because I had a couple bad experiences of being stranded like you just experienced.

If I ever run into you out on the road someday I'll talk about how I had a very similar experience. This is one of the worst weeks of my life. My van has a gas leak. That means my home is going to the shop, that requires everything be taken out of the van that I live in 😭 I'm feeling the anxiety you felt. It's been horrific. Your headache was probably brought on by your stressful situation. Glad your battery was under warranty and saved you a little money & you didn't have to shell out more money for the tow. Should of asked the motel for more pillows or a different room. We love our dual zone Bougerv 59qt fridge No need for ice, uses 120w, you can set it all freezer or fridge or split It has a optional battery port and solar charging and also Bluetooth controls. We just came back from mid 90s vacation and had no problem with ice cream bars for grandkids! We have a 16 Scamp!

We bought a FJ Cruiser to pull it, and had ignition coil and alternator go. But all the gorgeous country and sunsets made up for it!!! Oh, and we had a $5000custom bicycle stolen. Grr. We got our trailer towed with us when BlackBetty broke down, which motivated them to fix us cuz they didnt want us glamping in their back parkinglot! 😆ohhh, watching you cook reminded me of that awesome Thanksgiving video you did❤️🙋♀️🇨🇦‼️

So happy for you that everything worked out as it did. I had that happen to my car once, and the power steering went out too, and I was able to get 2 or 3 inches off a busy highway. It was scary.

Was camping near Dardanelle at the beginning of august, after 4 days was descending 108 on one of the hottest days. Got to Sonora and noticed my left front brake kept seizing up. Made it to Les Schwab in Sonora. Had a great experience there. They specialize in tires and brakes and very capable mechanics. I've found that you pay much dinero at a dealer. Better to look for a good independent garage.
Another entertaining video. That’s scary when your car just goes completely dead. AAA is a good idea even if you rarely use it. Too bad the repair shop didn’t have a little pity for you. Keep living life as best as you can, opportunities abound where we least expect them, we just need to have the insight to seize them.

Batteries today are designed with a lifespan of 3-5 years.
I also change my battery when it’s 5 years old.
