This morning he was whining and upset, saying it was too hard and he'd never get it. Then in the first video he watched (I think it was learning D), you said that most people think it's too hard but if you keep practicing you'll get it. It was just what he needed to hear, and now he's made it to this video and was just telling me all about the anchor finger. He got out a timer, and I counted strums for him, he got to 9, even after he dropped his pick in the middle, lol. So, thank you so much. This non guitar playing mom appreciates all the effort you have put into these videos!
Learning a new instrument can be the most frustrating experience of one's life, especially if you don't expect yourself to struggle for a WHILE. I've picked around on guitar since I was a kid, but never consistently enough to learn songs or anything. My late grandmother taught me my major chords and I now have her old guitar that she used to play gospel songs and sing with every Sunday. I was a drummer in my teens and I remember learning from my uncle who told me to make the loudest racket I could until I did something that sounded cool, then build off of it. That was the best advice anyone has ever given me about learning an instrument. I'm 32 now and picking the old guitar back up because I don't have the room for a drum set. I've seen this guy mentioned on forums and it just comforts me to hear someone say that it's okay to not be perfect when you're learning.
Thatoneguyinthecomments he explaines literately everything too. Unlock other guitar teachers on here he’s like the only one who really explained the fret buzz and relates to us most as beginners.

@@marekvachulik2120 whatever you do Dont quit. I stopped so many times and i still regret it. I even thought i would learn it myself with some tabs without learning the basics. Since RUclips ive realised that i play so many things the wrong way. And its really hard to unlearn it

Just keep on and the results will get better! You got this everyone dont give up! Persist and train. Thats the only way!

Thanks Justin! I'm a 64 year old beginner and, you are exactly right. Doing this is like rubbing your belly and tapping your head at the same time. My strumming hand stops to wait for my fretting hand to catch up. But, your lesson will help. Great job young man !!!!

So I have been playing guitar for over 20 years now. I have never had a lesson just picked up things as I went and tough myself. I found you on here and your teachings are by far the best. I started at grade 1 just to get back to the very basic, I’ll tell ya I’m learning things I should have learned years ago. What things are properly called cords that I’ve been playing but playing with the wrongs fingers how to change between chords faster and way easier then I had been. Keep it up man your a great teacher!!

Please address this issue in a video which lot of beginners might have. When I play a chord and lift my fingers, the strings sounds again with open strings. The strings are stuck to fingers and they are plucked slightly when lifting. This sounds odd between chord changes as there's an extra sound between the changes. How minimize this?
A few things can help prevent this. The main one is just muting the ringing strings by resting your strumming hand on them when you want the chord to end, but that's an additional technique to learn and probably not worth trying to add at this stage. Bear in mind that notes sounding when you lift your fingers off the string is totally normal and eventually becomes a technique to play notes without picking or strumming.

Today was my first time picking up my new guitar and following these lessons after just one hour of practicing I did 62 cord changes in one minute. But I must say I’m learning guitar because I want to worship Jesus and I prayed for a supernatural boost of help in learning to play. I prayed holy spiritual help me learn guitar all for his glory. I’m 40 years old and looking forward to strumming my guitar in worship.❤

Hi Justin, When changing the cord from D to A, as soon as I lift my fingers from 1st and 2nd string, they stop sounding and then the 4th string really sounds too odd. Can you suggest anything on this?
Hi, can you tell me.. 26 and 31 what? I've watched this video 3 times now. I can't for the life of me find out the lesson or exercise is. Just theory about 4/4 time and encouragement about counting. Yet the comments are filled with personal records.
I have noticed when strumming my thumb starts at the back of the neck of the guitar, then gradually works it's way to the top of the neck and mutes the strings. How can I stop this is it just practice ,practice , practice.

It sucks that I can't maintain fluency in some songs I play, "Oasis - Take me away" for instance between the lines: I can't make that swift change - "Asus4-A-Asus2-A-D" (both strumming and chord change), apart from that I can play the whole song. Is there a particular video to see and practice from? or this lesson practice should do it?

Am I the only one that never had a problem with strumming or holding chords since the very first day of my guitar journey ?? Like I seriously bought guitar and learned to hold three chords in one day and strum and got bored of beginner vedios so learned you belong with me from another youtube vedio in the very first week itself and then struggked with changing chords but still kept playing till I got the hang of it but now I can't seem to do stuff on beat so I am going back to basics .. also I did all this through online vedios ...I thought it was normal .. ?? Maybe not okay..
