Thanks for this interesting interview, I'm in Vietnam and when I was young I used to feel a little upset about her because I couldn't understand what she's singing in Vietnamese songs. Thanks to this interview I got to know her better. Hope she has a fulfill life.
She helped bridge the gap a lot of kids growing up outside of VN with their culture through music. Something to relate to even though different genre. Asia and PBN tried to do that with all the different types of songs so it takes all types of artists. And Trish is right, it may take some learning new things, learning to love what makes you you, an it my just take time. But in the end strive to be happy and to be you. I still Have the signed cds in a fairly wide range of collection :)
wow I really wish she knew how much she helped me with my own Viet-American identity when I grew up! I didn't really know Vietnamese when I was young so her stages were the only ones I would remember the most and sing the most. And compared to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, i saw myself in her and would copy her looks on myself and cousin. this interview was great and really real!
btw the editing was cool!
one of top Viet pop singer
This feels so validating to watch- growing up with PBN/Asia dvds- Trish, Cardin, Anh Minh, and Thuy Huong were MY main act to look forward to. Def gave me a reason to watch along with the family instead of tuning out the whole experience. Thank you for this piece- it really means a lot to see Trish again!
I will always remember you, Trish. Thank you for the interview. I absolutely enjoyed hearing you talk. You were the Vietnamese Brittney Spears of our time. Thank you!
Just want to share that even though me and my friends were not Vietnamese or understand Vietnamese, Trish's music was also popular in the Hmong American community as well. We're thankful for her music. Just like kpop, we still listen to her Vietnamese songs, even when we have no idea what she's singing about. 😁
I am not Vietnamese but I started to like a singer named Nhu Qyunh, and then I learned I learned about Trish Thuy Trang, she became one of my favorite singers of all time because of her long list of beautiful songs that are topped with her beautiful voice.
She is still relevant to me and until this day I listen to her music.
Thank you for the interview.
Thank you Trish for taking the lead in representing the new generation of vietnamese americans. Your appearance on asia and paris helped me find a connection with my parents interests and also connecting me a little more to the vietnamese culture. Your music really connected with me with during my teen years too. When I visited vietnam 2 yrs ago and heard your songs on the airplane, I realized I still remember all the lyrics!
She was a part of my childhood.
Growing up asian american i also didn't know where i belong. She made me excited and proud as a little girl to be asian.
I wanted to be just like her and being 30 now i am thankful for her. 🎉
OMG!!!! Thank you making this documentary!!!! ❤
OMG, I grew up on Trish's music and I can totally relate to the asian american experience and not feeling quite like I belong. I loved hearing what she had to share and everything that happened behind the scenes. I love how to down to earth she is.
Ahhh, I've missed her. Feels like seeing an old friend
Trish is a phenomenal singer. I wish you’r still singing. Love you a lot.
Trish had a huge impact on first gen Vietnamese Americans 🙌 thank you and much love to both Trish and Brandon
Her lyric was pure and innocent and that why I like it like I refuse to be boring adult
I used to listen to her all the time as a kid, Im happy she is doing well now
Tôi ở VN và rất thích Trish từ những năm thanh xuân
Thanks for this very interesting interview. She’s so humble. I never thought about the fact that she could be an outsider even though she was so popular in the industry. She seems very strong - can’t believe the story about the woman calling her out 🙄
She always in my heart ! Love her voice, all the songs ! She is realy a big big big idol in my family till now ! Love Trish
I felt so disconnected with my Vietnamese side when I was younger so she was such a big inspiration to me
Thank you so much for featuring Trish. I grew up listening to her and have often wondered why I never saw her name come up here in the States (I'm from the South and come from a Black community/culture). A school friend of mine had her Shades of Blue cd and I asked to listen-I was hooked on the very first song. It was super cool to listen to an album that was both in English and Vietnamese. I'm so happy she's the first Asian singer-songwriter I got to be familiar with, aside from Charice- and she influenced my own work later on in life. It's very reassuring to see her relate her story about not feeling welcomed by her community and feeling like she wasn't talented enough. She certainly pushed through and still made wonderful records, and her themed performances are still some of my favorites to watch/reference
Trish, you are definitely the type of existence that I find myself appreciating more and more as days go by as opposed to the opposite (fading relevance that so many music influences face these days). You entered the music industry with a group that was so hugely influential to many and was made to make a lasting impression. By being a part of them, you are also a part of that lasting influence and legacy. As I reflect on my own experience with my Asian American identity, I think so much about how you made it accessible for me to grapple with the internal conflict. Even hearing you now is so validating and makes me feel less alone in my experience but also affirms things that I felt but couldn't articulate about seeing you on screen in my childhood. There's so much more to say, but what I want to say the most is that you will always be a part of my personal journey and I loved being able to hear your reflections and candid conversation.
It’s been a while to see Trish. Great interview!
i still have Asia 16 VHS that has Trish's first appearance in "One and One"
She performed here in New Orleans for tet decades ago and I remember her looking right at me backstage, my dad plays guitar and Did a song for her which was why I was even allowed back there, glad to know she’s still singing
Stumbled across this video and man did this bring back memories. Thank you for doing this interview! Loved Trish growing up as a child and its nice to see shes doing well now.
Growing up I had a CD of hers that I would replay endlessly ♥️
I miss her. She sounded like an anime girl
Loved Trish then and love Trish now ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this interview!! Trish was a huge part of my childhood. I remember trying to practice the choreography and memorizing all her songs as a little girl. Watching this video was like coming home to see an old friend again ❤ Love you Trish!!
ôi xinh thế! lâu quá rồi mới lại thấy chị.
As someone who doesn't speak Vietnamese really well as an adult (parents had always spoken to me in eng), this just makes me love and relate to Trish even more. Thank you for this wonderful doc!
I still love your music! Wow -after all these years I still remember the words of you music.
Trish was my childhood idol! This is so cool to learn more about her as an adult. Thank you for making this!
Rhythm of the rain took me here!!
Thank you for doing this Doc! I’ve been a fan of her since I was little, meeting her at the age of 6-7 years old was my dream come true !!
Thanks for the interview! We want more of this!
Trish is so relatable 🥺 really loved her music and cute performances
I think Trish song is so magical love it 😍 ❤️
Love this!! Thank you for sharing your story 🥰 we love you so much!!
What a great interview and what a fantastic person Trish is ..Thank you for posting.
This is a good interview. Thank you for this.
She is so humble!!
Always love Trish ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Trish. Pls come to VN and throw a show.
Wow she looks SOOOOO different from her younger years
Women age like milk
@@compteutilisateur2477she looks great. Idk what you’re talking about
Wow viet people can be so rude and crass!! Can’t believe they treated her like that. Loved her music growing up and I’m glad she sang in English! If not for her, I woulda thought the entire production was dumb for not being able to speak English! Go speak viet in your own country if y’all love it so much. The Vietnamese are scattered everywhere after the war and to an extent has impacted how our culture has evolved and adapted. Change happens. But it doesn’t mean her not singing in viet makes her any less of a person.
Go Trish!! Go Matadors!!
This is such an interesting insight….I only knew her from face value
An she's still hot. I love her forever
I like the singer. Love her voice.
The interviewer needs more work....
Mong co ay noi tieng viet co ay khong the noi tieng viet chan qua
Trish lấy chồng xong rồi nhìn khác qa
25:40 guys whats the background song of hers
Whispers!
she was a like a flash by and gone. ain't no one remembers who she were anymore.
How old is Trish.? She never said her age ever!
Now she's 42
Growing up in America, I wasn’t into Vietnamese girls until I met Trish. Then I was like, “daaaang, Viet girls can look like this? She’s hot! 🥵” 😁
You are NOT in the limbo. You ARE VIETNAMESE despite where you were born. You are not a bi-racial, period. But you seems not to appreciate of who you are but instead you are fighting so hard to defend yourself how you are not Vietnamese. My nieces and nephews were born and raised here and they can speak Vietnamese, period.
