The reason D-Pad would feel good in comparison to smash is because of one simple thing:
Multiverse only detects digital input instead of analog. So the values are either 0 or 1.
Where as smash just for an example is 0-100. There is no walking in multiverus you are either still or moving no in between. No “did he just walk up slowly and down smash?!” Moments

I did not know that, so I can use a joystick with MVS, because joysticks are not analogue.
Using D-pad now is a plus that's what's up. I booted up the game and messed around in training. I like how much more tight and direct the movement and attacks feel now. Hitboxes seem a lot more polished, I'm ready!

I always used dpad since day 1. For some reason I cant get rid of L stick movement. So it drifts when i use the pad because of the stick. I fixed it with changing the deadzones to 10 10
Haven't tried dpad yet but it seems unintuitive. How do you dash dance properly with pad?

came from melee/brawlhalla, been on dpad ever since, can vouch that it'll make ur inputs much more tight and consistent. Jump on LT is definitely a must try, fast fallin after LT then using left stick for the aerials, if u dont already play like this, u missin out

0:35 The stick is what most people use in platform fighters like MVS. The d-pad is what is used in traditional fighters. I highly recamened to use the stick if the game has analog movement like walking and running but if the game has digital controls like running and no walking then you can use either or
yeah again. it's all a preference at the end of the day. the only reason people use the stick is because smash bros never let you use dpad support unless it's a mod lmao.
D Pad is faster and more precise. Ive played Smash and Brawlhalla competitively and D Pad is the way to go. There is too much room for mistakes with the joy stick.

I was a huge believer in joy stick in the beginning because it seemed to make the most sense because of how you move in the game, but after switching it's so much better.
also across the board DPAD IS BETTER 100%
@Avataryaya I'm going to go out on a limb and state the reason that dpad works so well is that it's more exact and consistent in its movements. No getting accidental diagonals, and less travel time from on to off to move in a direction. In this sense, Sony has a better and more consistent dpad design I know you're talking about a feel preference, but there are some objective advantages.

Personally for a platform fighter like this I’d rather it feel like smash. During the beta my friend showed me how to map the controller to use the analog stick like it is in smash. Much better for faster paced gameplay and quick reactions

One of the first things I did after opening the game up the first time was change the directions to the D-pad. I don’t like playing any 2D games with analog sticks.
Been using the dpad since the alpha, really good! Btw do you know if there are settings to change the camera from being so zoomed in now?

I have no idea why I can't make fighters keep their default colour palette but have different colour outlines.
I can comprehend an Iron Giant with a red outline is an enemy, I don't need the entire character dipped in red paint.

I changed it and it is easy.
Well.... I know most fighting game players play on analog and fight sticks. Plus we talking about a platform fighting game. It's common to use the analog and it has a better flow. When i go to tournament or locals majority of what I see is people using the analog Aland d-pad players they usually used a fight pad controller. I use fight pad to if I'm like playing mk1 and that's only because how the layout of the motions.

My biggest problem is multiversus swapping jab and ftilt by default. In beta you could swap it and it was fine, but for whatever reason in the devs infinite wisdom, they removed that when the game came out.

oh i'm sorry, I said tryout the deadzone and see if it mess with your gameplay. i definitely recommended trying it regardless.

If it’s like smash bros tap jump makes you jump by pressing the up direction. Not recommended because accidentally jumping
