Just nice to see Sigma is continuing to support the aps-c community. I'm still hoping for at least a prime "replacement" for the wide end of the 8-16mm which has been discontinued now for a while. An 8mm F1.4 would be huge and hideously expensive but perhaps an F2.8 or an F4?

Pricey and seeming to be almost a bit redundant with the rest of the DC DN line, I think the 23mm will take some time to really show its value to at least the Sony APS-C world. However it lost partial communication with camera body after 18 months. Firmware updates didn't help. Thank goodness I can still use it by setting the aperture ring. definetly needing some nice tele zooms for APSC
I think the 23mm was exactly fits perfectly though. 35mm FF equivalent is extremly popular and fights for first place against 50mm. Only issue is now, that the 30mm 1.4 is a but to close to it. 23mm + 35mm (or 33mm) would have made the perfect 35mm + 50mm (55mm) combo, this way we have a 35mm and a 45mm which feels just a tiny but to close to each other.
not a fan of the combo with the 56mm I think, it's a bit too much tele .

I have the Sony F1.8, 24 mm on my a6500, 95% of the time. It’s really a nice lens. I bought the Sigma F1.4, 30 mm lens first, which is really an equivalent 45 mm with the 1.5 crop factor. I used it a little, but it was to close for indoor work at family gatherings. So it has just be collecting dust. I was thinking of the Sigma F2.8, 18-50 mm (27-75 equivalent) but not certain it would have any great advantage for me indoors since my Sony 24 mm is F1.8 (it would help give a wider field of view). With clear image zoom on prime lenses my Sony 24 mm allows me to zoom to 48 mm (72mm equivalent) so its pretty close to the Sigma 75 mm equivalent. Only great advantage might be lower light situations and wider field of view. Get I could trade in my Sony 24 mm and Sigma 30 mm and get close to the price for the Sigma 18-50 mm, but it would not give me the same low light performance. Thanks for the video. I don't really like the 24 FF equivalent FOV for photography that much, as it causes distortion on the edges and on faces if you get close. The FOV is also similar to most smartphone cameras, which I find uninspiring. I've considered swapping it out for the 23, as this makes for a "tidier" composition in circumstances like street photography etc and is all-round a very versatile FOV even for various distance portraits. I've however recently been inspired by other youtube-photographers using wide lenses creatively for different types of environmental portraits, so I'll give it a second chance going forward.

As I am interested in having a 35mm f/2 FF equiv lens, on APS-C, I was so close to getting the Viltrox 23mm 1.4, which is cheaper, has an aperture ring, but as reviewed by many, and as standard for many Viltrox cheap APS-C primes (so NOT the Viltrox 75mm 1.2, which is in a class of its own), there is visible LOCA wide open, among others.
I've always admired the Sigma DC DN 56mm f/1.4 for its sharpness and small size, but the 30mm f/1.4 has been quite "meh" for me, as it's optically inferior to the 56, and also it's a not wide enough focal length for me.
The Viltrox (looked now again at some pixel peening reviews) seems all over the place with purple fringing in the center, wide-open. The Sigma is perfect optically in the center, and better than the Viltrox in the corners too.
So kudos to Sigma! Too bad they didn't add an aperture ring on it...

Considering that type of DYNAMIC MODE of stabilization on the ZV-E1 (imagine it as well on a ZV-10 Mark II) so they need to offer wider and bright lenses. I was a fullframe shooter for a decade but ok I can step back to APSC for personal use, but not with that lenses. On fullframe my favorite angles are around 18mm and 28mm. Give me one wide f/2.0 and more options on the 1.4 size. That's it.

May I ask, as a total newbie to Sony (I’m Fuji right now)…how did you get it to focus on the book and not her face at 3:15 mark? Can I map a custom button to turn off and on eye and face detect and if there’s no joystick, can I use the dial to select a focus point or will it automatically focus on closest object?
    Also, TRIO…would you go 23, 30, 56 for portraits?
Also, are you using presets to get these insane colors?

Having said that, I think we can be certain the new 23 will be sharper to the edges, and I would love to have it too, but it's a bit different, and the Sony is very sharp and focuses very close - it's been a great lens but still overpriced at $800 at B&H now IMO.I bought it for $800 European model six years ago.
