I love how happy this guy is and the fact that he’s close to his dad and his kid - the truth that the media has been trying to hide for the last 40 years
Had a pair of trees come down in my yard a couple weeks ago. My dad came over to help me clear it up. Just a day of pruning, bucking, and hauling the brush to the dump. The whole time talking and joking around. It's one of those days that'll stick in my memory and makes me smile whenever I think back.
My father in law watched your videos all day long while he was battling ALS "Lou Gehrig Disease" saddened he lost his battle last week. Thanks for your great videos. We plan to purchase some of your merchandise.
Not only do I love your videos because of my love for saws and wood cutting, but I also like your positive attitude to help me start my day. Thank you Buckin Billy Ray Smith!!
I'm not the kind of guy that comments on videos but I'll make an exception for you, I just wanted to say thank you for your content, my five-year-old grandson loves your Channel and I know he's safe with you. I don't have to be in the room worried that you would do something or say something inappropriate for a 5 year old, I've been watching and supporting your channel since day one
I got my G/F an electric saw with a 12" bar, she likes pruning.. It's an amazing bit of kit. For those days when you just nibble stuff or tidying up the shrubbery, it's brilliant. Like a cordless drill it's sat ready and does the job. Firewood needs petrol...
This was by far the best video you have ever done, IMHO...Love that you and your dad are able to sitll get out and work together. The view was great and the content suberb. This brings back memories of my father and Grandfather working at the farm in SC. Keep up the good work.
Um... In drag racing, even a few inches count. 500i took the big end compared to the 462. You can visually see the diameter for the 500i was slightly bigger than that of the test on the 462. Regardless, I'd put them almost the same in this test. My humble opinion, I have both of these saws. My 500i is the go to for, if not one reason only, it starts quick and cuts fast all day. No adjustments required. I do not regret at all buying it. BTW... Most of my logging is in South East North Carolina here in the states. We have been removing blow downs from hurricanes over the past couple of years on our property. So, deep in swampy terrain, hard to get back to base camp to fix things. The 500i with a 32" bar... runs all day. Love it.
Looking at Billy's dad here and how active and in shape he is, makes me think of my dad. He's still with me, thank god, but he lost the ability to work or do any meaningful physical activity ever since he replaced his hips.. The operation went bad, and the second even worse.. Now he's got back pain and walking with a crutch. I can see the sadness in his eyes when I'm working around a yard and he can't help out. He was a hard working man for all of his life, and it hurts me to see him not being able to split wood, operate a chainsaw, etc.... But this is the circle of life I guess... Say hello to your paps from me Billy...
Thank you Billy you don't even no how much your little podcasts lift my spirits kinda late here but you got me in the mood to do some cleaning and tuning on my saws now god bless
Nice to see you trying out the clear visor. I’ve worn one on my helmet for years and it’s really saved my eyes, especially when the wind is blowing in my face
I'm enjoying your videos. Lot's of good info on the chain saws. I'm 68 and love getting out with my Stihl and cutting firewood. Being a drummer as well I love the floor tom converted into a bass drum. Sounds good too. You the man Buckin. Keep up the good work and show more drums when ya can. Rock On!
Buckin I like to count you as a teacher and a friend. Thank you for all of your kind teaching and good words. If you ever come to Whidbey Island please look me up I have a great campsite you are welcome to use. God bless you my brother may all blessings come to you
The older I get? I’m less impressed with how fast a saw goes through a log. And much more impressed with the least amount of pulls to get the damn thing running….. I’ve had a 044 for 30+ years. Great saw. But I’m looking hard at that 500. Great channel bud! Be safe!
A chainsaw that is running 30 yrs from when you bought it is a saw that hasn't been ran much. You can buy any saw in the world and set it on the shelf in the garage, start it up a cpl times a year, and it'll start and run 30 yrs later...
Buckin it’s good to wear the eye protection. Got to protect those peepers! I like You running the 500i ! Buckin You tell it like it is even if you prefer something else! Nice to see You working with Your Dad! God Bless You all!❤️👍🙏
One of the buys that still stands out in my life today was an 044 red trigger saw in 1993. It was a huge purchase for me back then, the kind that made me nervous. We were falling big Dfirs and Sugar pine in the northern Sierras. Other guys had bigger saws. I discovered back then that the 70cc saw was the best daily saw to have on the job. I still have that saw with only one rebuild on it.
Buckin I didn’t know about you at first. Your personality seemed to be too ...effort-ed.. But I’ve continued to watch you and I feel like you’re 100% genuine. I’m sold. Love ya buddy.
Buckin is like a kid in a candy store while his ol' man does the hard work 😂 All jokes aside I wish I could spend an afternoon up there with you guys. Keep up the entertaining content Buckin!
Those Stihls just rip! I just bought a 362cm to replace my 251c on Saturday. I stared long and hard at the 462cm but it was hard to justify the extra cost since I’m only using it to help a buddy cut firewood for his house. Really, a 311 probably would have been a good upgrade, but I grew up watching Tim the Tool Man Taylor! 😂 Now I watch Buckin’ as I continue to grow up!! 😂😂
Watched a video recently of the 500i and 572XP head to head. They were very close in cutting speed but the 40% less $ for the 572 is hard to overcome. 572 is a pound heavier but uses less fuel. Thanks for putting it up against the ported 462. Another bit of info to hold onto. Thanks Buckin
I own both the 572 and the 500i and I prefer the 572 by quite a bit. The 500 seems to be more comfortable in the bigger wood, but considering they're both best suited to second growth, or under 32" bar size wood, the Husqvarna gets my vote.
We have bought the 500i to replace our old 361. We needed a small, light one for Smaller woods, run them with a shorter sword to be Quicker on the gas and honestly im super happy with the buy. Used it to cut down a lot of smaller trees. And it never failed on me. I was very sceptic at first, but it proved its worth. Greetings from germany, just found out about your channel. Some nice techniqes in your other Videos as well.
Those little battery powered saws are pretty cool. My local power company came out for my neighbors and cleared some branches from the lines. For that job, it worked really well. Cool stuff. Great videos Buckin. I really enjoy them.
A word on electric saws from my experience. Black and Decker elec. Pole saw. Never fails to start. My battery also fits my power drill. Got 3 batteries and makes more work than I care to clean up in a day. Very happy. In cold weather 34° and lower battery life is cut in half. No disappointments. Its never failed to work, never flooded, can't get ethanol poisoning. Battery powered saws are good if you don't have a saw in your hands more than once a month. Loved your video as always. You exude peace and happiness. Bless you and stay safe. Good drum chops too!
I love my climbing helmet with the flip down eye shade visor. Super convenient. Takes a bit to get used to but I love it and I added some stihl ear muffs and I really recommend their design and the slots they fit into are all universal for hard hemets & therefore interchangeable. Very happy to see an old saw man getting safer and setting a good example for the rest of us youngins who look up to Buckin Billy Ray Cheers from a fellow climber & saw man from north Pittsburgh
that is some entertaining g wood cutting there. I didn't even mean to watch this video but it just popped up and I listened/watched the vid (mostly listened) glad to see your dad still in the work day. good for both of you. god bless.
I am a Stihl guy, but the factory chains need a little love right off the hop in my opinion, after a careful going over though they rock. thanks Buckin!
So glad when I hear you say "OPE"... I'm from Midwest US (Yooper, actually!) and we say "ope" all the time... other recent videos have made me realize it. It's kind of like "oh" and "oops" combined!
Dale Earnhardt was a lucky man too until the day his luck ran out! Looks crazy seeing you with eye protection but your a smart man and idk bout you but I like my eyes
Such an uplifting guy, hard working and your dad wow hope I live that healthy for years to come. Love to see positive people and the work ethic just happy everyday thinking of you saying friends love it
Like the helmet. You know we only come with one set of eyes and one head, why not protect them?. Hat's off to you Buckin. I think this is my first comment in watching you for 2 plus years. Mike Morgan plugged your channel. I learned a lot about power saws and sharpening them from you. Keep up with the great content.
I have both saws, and I’m convinced the 462 is better. Maybe the 500I will be better soon, but for now, definitely not. I run them with my friend the past weekend and he actually said the same. Those saws are freaking monsters.
You know Friends, Sometimes safety lashes aren’t strong enough for tough work protection. I have always said if you are going to be stupid, it pays to be tough Thank you, Kenny
Geez you sure have fine weather happening there ....your dads place looks great...still like my huskies ...could never convince me to change ...old old dog new tricks syndrome I guess...I think maybe it came from shake blocking ! Husqvarnas always were the go to for st8 .....Your dad is doing pretty fantastic for 76 years young..keep well.all ...enjoy everything ...
That 462 is a HOSS! I’ve recently bought a 362 myself as my one and only saw (as I’m not a professional) and have been tickled to death with it thus far.
Its a FINE SAW.. the 362.. but to put the 500i into perspective. The 362 is a 59cc chain saw wit 4.69 horsepower, weighing 12.3 pounds.. the 500i, is a 79 cc chainsaw, with 6.7 horsepower weighing 13.9 lbs. And they are both roughly the same demensions.. so for 1.5 more pounds, you get 2 more horsepower ( alot for a saw) in a saw the same size.... Thats an unheard of gain... Its accomplished because the fuel injection does away with space the carb took up... All of these specs arent even taking into account the responsiveness and reliability of the fuel injection system.. it truly is a game changer.. i love the 362... And youll be fine with it as a home and ranch guy... But the reasons above is why the 500i is such a big deal.. and you can read all day about it.. but untill you run one thats past its break in period, you cant explain in words how much saw this is for the package it comes in
@@timberlineoffroad if you like the way your 362 feels, imagine it with twice the power , acceleration, and torque. But in a package roughly the same size.
Feels like spring is still 4 months away here in upstate NY. Been snowing now for a month straight lol and no signs of letting up anytime soon. Cant wait to swing some of my new axes I built while in hibernation here! Loving the content and always looking forward to the next video.
I love watching w the captions on while you run the saws it always says (laughter ) when you start the saw then( applause)when it's warming up then (music) when your throwing chips
This was a heck of a lot of fun, Billy. Cutting, splitting, hitting the nail, timing the cuts, and seeing the drumming at the end. This was some serious fun! Thanks! I gotta sharpen the Mc 610 this weekend. I like that Husky hard hat too. That visor is really nice. 👍
Yep there's not much worse than losing ya hearing and having the ringing in ya head for 15 years. I have trouble having conversations with people. I have always worn hearing protection but I've still got damage from cheaper quality ear plugs and from the occasional forgot to put them in.
Buckin Billy your Dad was one cool cat, sorry for your loss. He’s in a better place where chainsaws never run out of gas and the bar oil is always full.
Heck I love my huskys and stihl chainsaws but if you had Donnie to port the 500i and slap a Ford sticker on it might would kick the 462 out of the truck lol jk. God bless buddy have a great day!
So much fun for me to see dad workin away with the maul while buckin billy is playin with the powersaws! I really enjoyed this video. Thank you Buckin! And good advice about the sun too!
For most the 462 is the saw to get when both are stock, unless you really need the extra power of the 500i. The light weight, single piece top cover and spin on air filter of the 462 makes it hard to beat.
462 has to be the best do it all stock saw ever sold. power to weight and easy ergonomics make it hard to beat. it only takes 1 extra pull over 500i so ill stick with the 462
Great video brother. There's a guy on Facebook/OPE/AS that did dyno comparisons of several 70+ cc saws, including the 500i and 462. All stock. While the 500i had more power, IMHO the 462 had a more impressive power curve, holding peek HP longer. I have a 461 now, and am tempted to sell it to get a 462. I'm also wanting to get a buddy's ported 372, as I'm an equal opportunity saw lover ;)
I know it’s an old thread, but I’m curious if you ended up replacing the 461 and what you ended up choosing. I’ve been craving a 372 for some time, but I’m struggling with temptation with 462/500... I have both breeds currently in my stable, so I’m not leaning in one direction or another concerning brand loyalty. Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
@@sawsurgeon Everything I read on the 462 just screams buy me! BUT... I was chatting with my dad this weekend and asked him his thoughts since he spent 25 years logging and he said his favorite saw he ever had was a husky 372 ported with a 36" bar. Said it was a screamer and super reliable. That was an older model though so yeah, food for thought.
@@Ntyuask G’morn’n to ya, I ended landing a virtually unused 372xp. Best thing about it is that it belonged to a neighbor and dear friend of mine who recently passed from cancer. Sentimental value means a lot to me. Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
I went home to visit twice in the past year, and there’s nothing like visiting with pops and getting some work done in the process. At 23, it seems life doesn’t get any slower and a year or two can fly by without seeing the family. Not a very good feeling watching your little siblings grow up without you
The helmet looks really clean and nice looking, looks like it’s a perfect for for you and you should always be safe than sorry! Love the work buckin!! You are an idol
Buckin, great to see you & your Dad doing what you love! My Dad always said, "Haul a big enough load so you won't be embarrassed if your friends see you.". Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us! "Be Kind friends."
Buckin! The look on your face when you were using that battery powered saw was priceless. You looked like you either were gonna take a nap and wait for that saw to finish getting through that wood or like you are bummed you were gonna have to go get a haircut by the time it finished🤣🤣
You know I’ve been watching your channel for awhile an I’ve never commented cause it’s not something I do, but I have to say I love it! Hahah I always get a laugh in an a big smile! Not use to seein yeah in a helmet like that with the eye cover! lol but I truly like the channel an what you put out from the video, info, positivity, laughs, kindness, fallin timber, climbing, an love for powersaws!! Keep up the good work Buckin!

I have both saws, and I’m convinced the 462 is better. Maybe the 500I will be better soon, but for now, definitely not. I run them with my friend the past weekend and he actually said the same. Those saws are freaking monsters.
I’m about to get a Stihl today. Thank you for your time and dedication!
You know Friends,
Sometimes safety lashes aren’t strong enough for tough work protection. I have always said if you are going to be stupid, it pays to be tough
Thank you, Kenny
Geez you sure have fine weather happening there ....your dads place looks great...still like my huskies ...could never convince me to change ...old old dog new tricks syndrome I guess...I think maybe it came from shake blocking ! Husqvarnas always were the go to for st8 .....Your dad is doing pretty fantastic for 76 years young..keep well.all ...enjoy everything ...
Good to see the eye safety gear. You've been lucky so far not to loose an eye.
Beautiful scenery especially the ocean behind in the background
But the reasons above is why the 500i is such a big deal.. and you can read all day about it.. but untill you run one thats past its break in period, you cant explain in words how much saw this is for the package it comes in
@@no.step.on.snek.2423 no disputing that’s the 500i is the tits, just saying how much I like my 362.
@@no.step.on.snek.2423 so you would def buy the 500i over the 462? I currently have the 362 and looking to upgrade...
@@timberlineoffroad if you like the way your 362 feels, imagine it with twice the power , acceleration, and torque. But in a package roughly the same size.
@@no.step.on.snek.2423 ooooh nice! Ok so its worth the extra money to skip the 462 and go straight to the 500i?👌
Feels like spring is still 4 months away here in upstate NY. Been snowing now for a month straight lol and no signs of letting up anytime soon. Cant wait to swing some of my new axes I built while in hibernation here! Loving the content and always looking forward to the next video.
Did anyone notice how the 2 saws running together sounded like an angry hornets nest?😂😂😂
I love watching w the captions on while you run the saws it always says (laughter ) when you start the saw then( applause)when it's warming up then (music) when your throwing chips
30:37 dads never stop giving "that look" to their sons. haha.
Still frozen back here in Michigan, send that warmth this way would ya BBR! Blessings and Aloha Love wins
First time watching ya buddy...after many many many folks have told me to check ya out! Great channel! Josh #stoneyridgefarmer
Welcome friend
Hat's slick! Great to see pops too!! People requesting more of him - how 'bout seing the three generation of lads rockin'!?! Love & Respect...
Love you guys Billy and Father! Never stop what your teaching and living the American dream.
Good helmet, just need ear protection
I just bought a new 462. It revs instantly . Tons of power . so far so good .
Anybody else here found themselves saying "friends" throughout the day thanks to Buckin?
Just a kind word that stuck with me as well. Flat earth crew
Buckin you look like Speed racer with the visor down ! Love it !
Dad gets exited when the cameras out ehhh. Hehe. Awsome show. Buckin trying out some new stuff. 💪🏻💪🏻 Keep it up brother.
Kindness and love
BFP 💚🌳💚👊👍
So much fun for me to see dad workin away with the maul while buckin billy is playin with the powersaws! I really enjoyed this video. Thank you Buckin! And good advice about the sun too!
I'm absolutely loving my 462, it impresses me often. I didn't have to have the latest and greatest of the 500i.
The 462 is a better saw in my opinion! I dont think the 500 is worth the extra grit! I run a 241 c-m also and that thing is a little ripper
It also saved u about $250-300.
@@davt8615 I have a 251 cm myself so light an nimble almost like it as much as my 034av 🤭
i love you bud and love that you are wearing a hat now. not only to stay safe but to all the people you influence. keep it up.
For most the 462 is the saw to get when both are stock, unless you really need the extra power of the 500i. The light weight, single piece top cover and spin on air filter of the 462 makes it hard to beat.
462 has to be the best do it all stock saw ever sold. power to weight and easy ergonomics make it hard to beat. it only takes 1 extra pull over 500i so ill stick with the 462
@@Mackenzie.Grant95 The 500i is sweet and it runs flawlessly, but I agree. The 462 is more of a do all, the 500i is more of a longer bar saw only saw.
76 yrs old, and picked up that huge block like it was nothing...💪👍
Great video brother. There's a guy on Facebook/OPE/AS that did dyno comparisons of several 70+ cc saws, including the 500i and 462. All stock. While the 500i had more power, IMHO the 462 had a more impressive power curve, holding peek HP longer. I have a 461 now, and am tempted to sell it to get a 462. I'm also wanting to get a buddy's ported 372, as I'm an equal opportunity saw lover ;)
I love my 462 cm!! Put West Coast 3 point felling dawgs and bark box on...beast!!
461 is a great saw but you will not be disappointed with the 462cm!
I love your videos I made my first double bit this last week bc of you
well done
Iv always been a husky guy too but I just got a 038 as your getting into these saws perfect timing
Yo bucking I love the 462 its what I started using when I started logging !!
kool
You know I’ve been watching your channel for awhile an I’ve never commented cause it’s not something I do, but I have to say I love it! Hahah I always get a laugh in an a big smile! Not use to seein yeah in a helmet like that with the eye cover! lol but I truly like the channel an what you put out from the video, info, positivity, laughs, kindness, fallin timber, climbing, an love for powersaws!! Keep up the good work Buckin!
Time with ol dad...love it sir...💜💜💜
Southeast Indiana 55deg today Buckin have a Blessed day!
Wow! 15 degrees warmer than we got here, 25 mi yer side of Valparaiso.
Dad looks like he could be your older brother, good shape for his age, whatever that might be.
11:35 ...76 years old.
my dad was strong to in 70+ then sudenly every year was weaker fast.
@@tikrslokis thats waht happens, sometimes just one year
I think every time I watch one of your videos you add another week to my life, you make me laugh!
Hey buckin. Can you show the process of how you clean up a rusty axe head. I know you don't use the vinegar like some suggest. Any helpful tips is great. Thanks chad
I love seeing you helping your Dad and your son working with you. Awesome stuff.
