The ice rink in McCall is accurate, the Cda resort, downtown Boise, downtown Idaho Falls, downtown Sandpoint. It’s all amazing. I love getting to live in Idaho and they did real justice to it.
@@hvymtal8566 I can't wait for Colorado either. I don't live there, but I've been to Colorado once and can only imagine how awesome the scenery is going to be.
Many truckstops in the US are placed that way within close area to eachother and truck dealerships. The two you showed, if you didnt know were modeled after the Loves "Heart" and the other truckstop was the Flying J
7:57 is a real rest stop on 95 and an almost exact replica of it, I have to drive the route ~8 times a year and I specifically choose to stop there just for the gorgeous view. I’m only disappointed they didn’t add the “Caution: Snake Area” signs around the picnic benches..
Oh hey, I live there. And I've been running a joke around for a while now, that Idaho is just American Ireland; consider, we're both geographically located in the northwest, population is considerably lower outside of the capitol and other major cities, there are beautiful mountains and valleys with rivers, loads of cottages in the middle of nowhere, and of course the potato industry. And there is a story behind Idaho re-labeling itself "The Gem State". If I recall, the story was that, up in the panhandle, there was the large sign saying "Welcome to Idaho" beside the highway. Under that sign, another one read something like "Home of World Famous Potatoes", and reportedly people kept vandalizing it, spray-painting the sign so it read "famous pot", 'cause weed. The state got fed up with trying to clean or replace the sign so often, so it was changed to "The Gem State". I can confirm, there is great variety in the scenery here, even in just my valley. There's also Craters of the Moon to the south, basically an enormous volcanic desert that happens to vaguely resemble the moon's surface. Also in that area, and not too far from my region, was the nuclear test facility for Nuclear Aircraft Propulsion, the EBR-1, and the Molten-Salt reactor experiments.
I can't wait till they do Missouri, my homestate. A lot of people say that the Midwest is boring and just flat but Missouri is the breaking point where it's super hilly and a lot of smaller cliffs. It's a beautiful state, especially in Kansas City where I live.
Yeah, irl it looks like a normal bridge like you might find crossing a small river.....then you get right on it and it’s like “holy shit, that’s a long way down!”
I'm excited for Idaho; I drove to west-central Idaho for the total solar eclipse in 2017, driven down the winding route 93 through the mountains of central Idaho, driven past Coer D'Alene multiple times, and I've gone camping at Craters of the Moon National Monument. But I'm even more excited that it's adjacent to the state I live in: Montana. Hopefully it'll only be five or six more states, tops, before they get to Montana.
Honestly, Washington, Utah, and Oregon are my favorite states and Idaho brings them altogether and it's a lovely state. When Colorado drops - yet another beautiful state to drive through. My main motivation for Idaho is avoiding Nevada to be honest and just being able to use Idaho to get to the two North Western States, but now I realise Idaho itself is going to be a great destination and I'm pumped for it to drop. ATS is becoming more on par with ETS2 every day.
Once ATS gets to the Mississippi River, some of the shine will have come off of ETS2, and the sheer length of the drives you'll be able to do in ATS will draw players to the American game. The quality of these DLCs will also draw people in. Unfortunately, this means that California, Nevada, and Arizona will be really old then.
Hahaha...True. Every time I need to drive from WA to AZ, google recommends taking 93 through eastern Nevada. No thanks. I'll go through Idaho and Utah the slightly longer way without hesitation.
Thanks for the preview. I often enjoy having Google Earth (or Google Maps) AND Bing Maps (a.k.a. Virtual Earth) up while I'm in ATS. I then find the real-life aerial view (and street view) in both maps and compare the views and the buildings with ATS. It really is amazing how much detail/customization they put into the maps in ATS.
I actually live in Idaho, and I can honestly say, without a shadow of a doubt, that my home has been beautifully represented. I’m very happy with it. I recognized so much, seeing as I’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled nearly everywhere in the state. Also, at 6:20, the company with the Rail Runner and the Front Runner locomotives outside in real life is a company called Motive Power. They do rebuilds, repaints, and they even build entire locomotives from the ground up. They were responsible a few years back for building and exporting a number of locomotives for freight service in Australia. Fabulous video Squirrel! And another fabulous DLC from SCS.
That tourist thing reminds me Forza, going around picking them up and getting a scenic shot with some voiced background on it. Still I'll drive past it all anyway, I go for 100% road.
Wait, I've been playing this game for YEARS and I never knew the drawbridges actually worked! I've never been stopped at one before and I didn't see any clear seams on the bridge road, so I always assumed they were static.
My Grandma has a 1967 Chrysler Imperial and all I remember about it is that it seed to take up both lanes of that counterweighted drawbridge. Of all the time we spent down there, I have never seen it actually raise until now.
Are you gonna do another Truck diaries series? Also I've been to Coeur D'Alene many times to visit my grandma. We often go out onto that very lake for some fun. Also as for the multiple truck stops, not sure if that's a simulator game mechanic or if America in general has more rest stops than Europe.
I live in the middle of Idaho Falls and the road you were on was Broadway. By the Idaho Falls falls, and it looks really really close to the real thing. The buildings and all that are accurate. It really captures the feel
That scenery reminds me of some of the videos of an American truckers channel. The truck stops, the land. Driving through Seattle is the same. I went through a tunnel then went and found the Allie Knight video when she went through Seattle.
Great review, thanks. What I love about this is that the geology varies, changing the landscape - as you noted, and you can see everything becoming different as you drive. They're clearly putting a lot of effort into this. Just bought the Idaho DLC and am looking forward to exploring!
I live near Coeur d’Alene. I drove hot shot for 3.5 years. I recognize so much from your video. The 2 truckstops next to each other. I’ve stayed at the loves several times over the years. So much of this is dead on. The rest area I stop at anytime I’m heading south.
Driven through Idaho many times. Came through Twin Falls a couple of winters ago..had breakfast at the iHop. The canyon is spot on. The drive coming out of Coeur d'Alene going east is amayyyyzing.
Living in Lewiston my entire life. I have only seen the Blue interstate bridge transform a handful of times. Yes that is a hotel on the CdA Lake and my wife worked at the gas station down the street you showed. Idaho is beautiful, great video!
I grew up in Twin Falls and they did an amazing job showing off all of the features of the area (even though there aren't many lol) so happy to see the detail the put into the map
I live in Pocatello and I've traveled through most of Idaho, it looks just like the real thing just shrunk down a bit in overall scale. They did a great job at recreating the city's and scenery. I've been born and raised in Idaho, this definitely has my approval.
I’d like to recommend you a game called The long dark it is an amazing realistic survival game where you will have to ask yourself “ do I have enough food to survive for the next few days?” “Are my clothes warm enough to keep me alive during a hunting trip?” But still you should definitely try it out!
McCall ID is a scenery town (not on the actual map), seen on a 'viewpoint' video. You can't pick up or deliver to McCall in the default SCS map, but you can pick up and deliver to McCall on the MHAPro Map for ATS map enhancement. Not only can you pick up and deliver to McCall, you can buy a garage in that beautiful town and make it your HQ. It's wonderful.
Downloaded it today and I have wished I could stop and look at the scenery without blocking traffic at more than one place around the ATS landscape so this should be very interesting since there is room for your tractor and trailer. Well done as usual. You are driving my ETS trucks by the way. Take care and God bless.
I am loving the fact that the developers are still putting this much love into this game. And the modding community is also amazing. I am glad I bought this game and I am happy to pay for DLC as they continue making upgrades and expansion. And the view points are awesome.
The buildings in Sandpoint were all very accurate, including that big mall like building jutting out over the lake. My family used to go to Lake Pend Oreille every year for the fourth of July and camp at Farragut, and we'd always go to Sandpoint for one of the days of our trip. We'd also light off our fireworks down at Garfield Bay on the fourth, Go to Silverwood Theme Park for one of the days, and in later years when we finally bought a boat, would spend a couple days of the trip out on the lake tubing swimming, skiing, wake boarding etc... The water was usually around what felt like about 60°F during that time of year, which is practically warm compared to where I live on the Columbia River in Washington, which is East Wenatchee (also on this map). It's so freaking cool to see places I have been or currently live be so accurately represented in a game.
Wow! I live in Idaho and that looks amazing. It is so accurate. It was weired to not see the Temple next to the Falls in Idaho Falls. That was the one big thing they missed. But overall a spot on rendering. The little Town outside Boise is McCall. That Is Idaho's secret playground.
Hi Squirrel, Im a big fan of your content and subscribed about 2 years ago on multiple accounts and I really love your ATS and ETS videos and I would really love for you to do some more they are really fun to watch!
I saw a new touring bus in this video. By Jeff I saw a former train wagon that is now in use as a cafe, multiple signs with Cananda, Idaho state trooper and new pedestrian signs
One of the most enjoyable map areas to drive in ATS. The contrast between the twisty hilly roads up in the northern "panhandle" and the fast interstate from Boise to Pocatello is as great as the contrasts in the scenery.
They could also add 'sightseer' achievements for visiting a certain number of the view points and 'return visitor' or something for returning to a certain number at least twice. It's more work but having a local heritage paint job that is unlocked by visiting a certain number of them in an area could be cool, maybe something for return visitors too like unlocking colour customisation for those liveries, so that more players could be encouraged to look at them and see the detail they put into each location.
Oh my god. I'm so happy they have the Idaho falls water tower. It's sadly being replaced so I'm happy it's in-game. Also, the circle hotel is where I had my first job out of high school. So happy to see the places are so good.
Fun little easter egg: at about 3:17 there is a big building that says drop but I live in boise and its actually called the jump building in real life.
I just bought the base game and the Idaho expansion for $11 on Steam. Best $11 I’ve ever spent! This game is so much fun, especially in VR.. and as an Idaho native it is so cool seeing my home state modeled in a game. They really did an exceptional job. Even my tiny home town of Shoshone is modeled fairly well! They even have the famous Whistle Stop mural! The drive north of Shoshone could be a bit longer but I can’t complain. Overall it is pretty dang spot on. I will definitely be buying a steering wheel and a three pedal setup soon!
This was great thank you. It has made me think of next the next steps. How about using using the view points as a walk point where you can get out and walk a block, check your load and truck. To start of with it doesn't have to have a body and just a camera view which is fixed at head height. Can't wait for a long drive.
I just pre-ordered MS FLight simulator 2020. What I would like to do is to "fly" over Idaho...then..."drive" around Idaho...for the full immersion adspect.
Don't know if anybody mentioned it but all these locations you showed in this video are real life locations. the truck stops in Idaho Falls... Yep they're there. One is a Luvs, across the street used to be Dad's (recognized it immediately), now it's flying j/pilot, and the one on the north side of town is an independent, cant remember the name. That town of McCall, pretty close to what it really looks like. Soon as you showed the drawbridge I knew exactly where it was. They really did a really good job on Idaho. Even little details like underneath the overpass in downtown Boise is a skatepark called Rhodes Park ...that's in the game.
I live 30 minutes west of CDA, that large building is the Couer d'Alene Resort. Pretty iconic building in the city. Sandpoint is situated on Lake Pend Orielle (Pronounced Ponderay), the 5th deepest in the country (Up to 350m deep in some parts), there's a Navy sonar research base on it.
Man that Loves is very accurate, except you probably don't have to wait over 30minutes to get to a fuel pump and fight your way out because the lot is laid out the worst way possible. Loving the detailed truck stops they are such a huge part of the experience IRL. Don't think we'll ever see the sheer chaos of a real one recreated though! Very common to see clusters of 2-3 different stops on an exit, record I've seen is 6. Usually a dealer nearby too. Also as a northeast driver, does Idaho really have streets that wide in cities? It's glorious, so much room for activities, I could drive a 53ft through there without a single thought.
Im from Couer d' Alene and they got the city on spot its pretty crazy the little details they added like the clock tower and the resort super cool they took the time and really looked into it.
Great video Squirrel!! I've been looking forward for when ATS finally put Idaho I the game it's cool to be able to drive in your state on a game it's pretty chill! Great video again!!
Just drove to the bridge in Lewiston, Squirrel. Very cool indeed. Drive across Idaho, and have this informative video ready for input to what to visit. :-)
I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t include the most surprising feature of the snake river. If you go east out of twin falls on USA 30 and then continue onto Idaho state highway 50 you will cross the Snake River as it goes through a 500 feet deep canyon that maybe only 300 feet or less across and has walls of obsidian! and not to far upstream the river is almost 2 miles across!
that's cool they have an in-game version of Love's (that's why they called it hearts) Even for cars those large rest areas are great. Pilot Flying J is my favorite version of those lol
Now with the viewpoint camera they need to revamp the pedestrian density in both games. Such beautiful scenery, but sidewalks are so empty. Cities need to be alive, imagine the new Las Vegas Boulevard full of tourists!
I was hoping they would have added the scenic Highway 30 route west of Twin Falls, but it's not really a trucking route. Twin Falls is close enough to where I live.
Do others thinking the same as I do when we might in the future be able to own tourist buses, in ATS and ETS2 now that SCS is starting to add lookouts and landmarks. We have seen that there have been several bus stops in ETS2 and mwed lookout posts and landmarks, Could not imagine it could provide a Bus job market. I thought the future looked exciting for ATS and ETS2
Wyoming doesn't exist btw Edit: I really like the fact that they included a lot of small towns like McCall in this DLC. Makes the world feel much more alive. Some people didn't like it because there's isn't much of a drive between towns
I live in Idaho, and they got these cities on POINT. Never thought i'd see Idaho in a video game like this.
The ice rink in McCall is accurate, the Cda resort, downtown Boise, downtown Idaho Falls, downtown Sandpoint. It’s all amazing. I love getting to live in Idaho and they did real justice to it.
It's always cool to hear what the people that actually live in the state have to say
Gets me all hyped for Colorado, hoping I can give the same feedback when my state is released!
@@hvymtal8566 I can't wait for Colorado either. I don't live there, but I've been to Colorado once and can only imagine how awesome the scenery is going to be.
When do we get the BLM terrorist riot DLC
The viewpoints are a great idea. I'm glad the developers added something that keeps with the relaxing spirit of the game
I liked it too, and the idea of facts also 😀 would be great to know more of the countries you drive through 😀
It will be greatest if they will add the viewpoints to the other existing states)
Many truckstops in the US are placed that way within close area to eachother and truck dealerships. The two you showed, if you didnt know were modeled after the Loves "Heart" and the other truckstop was the Flying J
To be specific, ‘driver’ is Pilot
Yeah, super glad they made truck stops super realistic now. I was super annoyed with them not being that realistic.
7:57 is a real rest stop on 95 and an almost exact replica of it, I have to drive the route ~8 times a year and I specifically choose to stop there just for the gorgeous view. I’m only disappointed they didn’t add the “Caution: Snake Area” signs around the picnic benches..

Me and my dad went across that bridge a few years ago. Very beautiful
You never really realise how beautiful the scenery actually looks at places like this until you see it in real life.
Yeah, irl it looks like a normal bridge like you might find crossing a small river.....then you get right on it and it’s like “holy shit, that’s a long way down!”
I was born in Boise and spent a good deal of my youth visiting relatives in a small town called Emmett. Getting an Idaho DLC is very exciting for me.

Fabulous video Squirrel! And another fabulous DLC from SCS.
I live in Lewiston ID I'm glad they included it. The blue counter waight bridge is called the blue bridge locally.
I used to live in Idaho and without a doubt SCS has done an amazing job at recreating Idaho, especially Boise.
Peps from idaho call it "boise" and peps not from idaho call it "boize"
That tourist thing reminds me Forza, going around picking them up and getting a scenic shot with some voiced background on it. Still I'll drive past it all anyway, I go for 100% road.
Wait, I've been playing this game for YEARS and I never knew the drawbridges actually worked! I've never been stopped at one before and I didn't see any clear seams on the bridge road, so I always assumed they were static.

6:45 is a town called McCall, they really captured the feel
Used to go fishing on those rocks at 7:21
It’s so pretty
i was in Idaho last summer . I was in Mccall, is there mccall?
Turkish Cuisine you drive through it and it’s very well done but it’s not an official city in the game
I live near Coeur d’Alene. I drove hot shot for 3.5 years. I recognize so much from your video. The 2 truckstops next to each other. I’ve stayed at the loves several times over the years. So much of this is dead on. The rest area I stop at anytime I’m heading south.

I'll add it to my collection like Thanos with infinity stones. Though I still haven't played Utah yet, and I bought it right after it came out.
i live in lewiston idaho and all them points and cities are so on point
Thanks for making videos again squirrel I love them so much
I am definitely buying this DLC tomorrow
My mother’s family lives in Sandpoint and I spent almost every summer of my childhood up there, it’s beautiful country

Awesome review, can't wait until Colorado, great to see the one of a kind and only Squirrel back on ATS.
That was very impressive that you knew Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado on a blank United States map. Well done, sir. You're a gentleman and a scholar.
I saw a new touring bus in this video. By Jeff I saw a former train wagon that is now in use as a cafe, multiple signs with Cananda, Idaho state trooper and new pedestrian signs

Love seeing you drive the bulldog! Stunning map, looking forward to driving around it!
Please bring back trucking dairies...been so long and missing all the long distance and showing us on you making money and paying loans :):);)
Ordered mine at 9:02 after release. Have to work today but looking forward to taking a drive after work in Idaho

Sandpoint is situated on Lake Pend Orielle (Pronounced Ponderay), the 5th deepest in the country (Up to 350m deep in some parts), there's a Navy sonar research base on it.
30 mins West, Hillyard?
That viewpoint is actually nice add on
Man that Loves is very accurate, except you probably don't have to wait over 30minutes to get to a fuel pump and fight your way out because the lot is laid out the worst way possible.
Can't wait till they release MT, that's my home!
Im from Couer d' Alene and they got the city on spot its pretty crazy the little details they added like the clock tower and the resort super cool they took the time and really looked into it.
Squirrel from UK knows US geography better than most Americans.
wonmderful addition just hope they have fixed thge bug of it not allowing you rest in a reest stop when you are falling asleep at the wheel
Love your ATS videos Squirrel! It would be awesome to see you make more!
With the release of this DLC, US-95 and Interstate 84 are now complete on the ATS map.
Great video Squirrel!! I've been looking forward for when ATS finally put Idaho I the game it's cool to be able to drive in your state on a game it's pretty chill! Great video again!!
I love the addition of the viewpoints.
Man that dlc is pretty accurate I live in Idaho. They really got the Perrine bridge down in Twin Falls
And even better, American Truck Simulator (ATS) is going to improve and improve and improve over time. It's going to be more realistic!
Ahh i love coming here to see yout vids been watching u scince your first ets2 vid
thank you very much for the awesome vid really enjoyed it. I love the way you showed us all the view points brilliant stuff :).
Love that draw bridge looks amazing
Just drove to the bridge in Lewiston, Squirrel. Very cool indeed.
Drive across Idaho, and have this informative video ready for input to what to visit. :-)
I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t include the most surprising feature of the snake river. If you go east out of twin falls on USA 30 and then continue onto Idaho state highway 50 you will cross the Snake River as it goes through a 500 feet deep canyon that maybe only 300 feet or less across and has walls of obsidian! and not to far upstream the river is almost 2 miles across!
Those two truck stops in Idaho falls and the Peterbilt shop are almost identical to real life SCS out does themselves with every new state
that's cool they have an in-game version of Love's (that's why they called it hearts)
Even for cars those large rest areas are great. Pilot Flying J is my favorite version of those lol
Thfi
I live in Boise Idaho, and I gotta say, it is amazingly accurate. Also, McCall is amazing. I love going there.
i drove semi for 10 years. the heart truck stop is for loves, and the flying is for flying j. they did really good. i can wait for colorado.
I'd love to tour the US and Idaho is, definitely on my hitlist
Legend! See you tomorrow on the stream :)
Now with the viewpoint camera they need to revamp the pedestrian density in both games. Such beautiful scenery, but sidewalks are so empty. Cities need to be alive, imagine the new Las Vegas Boulevard full of tourists!
Thanks for the review. I cannot wait to get home and download this.
Aaarrgghh Paul, you made me buy ATS after this vid. Such a beautifull scenery
Wyoming doesn't exist btw
Edit: I really like the fact that they included a lot of small towns like McCall in this DLC. Makes the world feel much more alive. Some people didn't like it because there's isn't much of a drive between towns
Yes, it looks nice in the summer, but wait for winter. Snow, ice, chaining up...... freeze to death.
I fully intend to buy this dlc, it looks really good.
Thank you. It is wonderful!
Evil Knievel jumped Snake River, and the ramp is still visible.
Craters of the moon is really cool. I've been there once, and it's about a three hour drive from where I live.
Just brought it and excited to play. thanks for the review.
