      I finally got it to work consistently. I’ve killed a doe with it. There’s a video if you want to see it on my channel

    Ignore the haters on the 9mm conversion. It is something FUN to do. I am trying to get a G20 working with same setup. Great time first around with some reloads I did. You can watch that on my channel. Second time around. I had so many fails, that I ditched ALL my 9mm bullets and hanged up the 9mm barrel on the wall till I get the itch to screw with it. Glad I found your channel and intend to look for updates and such.
    Regarding the last round slide held open. It is due to the follower engaging the slide lock. I trimmed a few mm's off of one area that engages and had some great success. Trying on some 3 other sacrificial followers resulted in not so steller results. So that was a fail. Some people have recommended pinching the magazine lips in a vice slightly... I would rather not damage something like that. So I got 1 mag that will lock back most of the time on 9mm and ALL the time on 10mm.
    Also look up a channel called jeffrey kelly. He might be able to help out alot as he converts his g20 to 8 calibers or so.
    Last thing, your trigger finger, god damn. Watch the vid and you will know what I mean.

      Thanks for the comment! I checked out your video it looks like you had it running good even with the 13# spring. I might play around with some mag followers to see what I can get going. I agree on the mag crimping, I'm not going to do that. It is a LOT of fun playing around and doing the conversions. I don't understand why some people don't realize that. I'm obviously not going to carry around this setup to defend myself. I should be doing some updates and hopefully a few more videos this summer. I'll keep an eye on your channel as well.

      +The 100 Outdoors I should upload the bad results. I recorded it, but I think I might have deleted those vids. It was really frustrating especially after the good results. Every 3-4 shot was a fail, lock up, ftf, nothing like my first.

      +shopsmart57 Same here I've recorded some other results that were miserable. Same issues.

    I’m many years late and I looked this up because I’m considering this myself. My only thing is that if I want to run my g40 more cheaply, it’s easier to and cheaper (until you hit a break even point) to just use .40 in your g40 in factory configuration. That is a few hundred bucks in savings because you need no extra parts.

      @@tristarcustoms77 I would still consider this with all that said. I couldn’t even imagine how soft a big gun like this in 9mm would be. The reason I considered this is very similar to yours: 10mm is expensive compared to 9mm. I got this caliber to hunt/have a woods defense gun. However, I’ve started getting ready to compete in a run and gun competition that has pistol shots out to 50 and a round count of about 30ish shots from your pistol x5-6 stages. I could easily run a 9mm pistol but my g40 mos is the only pistol with and the guys with irons only usually struggle by comparison to those with dots so, I wasn’t not going to run my lone dot equipped pistol. I lucked out when my wife’s friend gave me several hundred rounds of .40 and wouldn’t take a dime for it so, I’ll be using .40 at the matches but 9mm isn’t off the table long term because I can easily recoup the costs as time goes on.

    Thanks for the comment. Yes 40sw would have been an easier conversion but you have to buy more expensive ammo. Yes I agree that trimming and stretching the spring isn't ideal but it's the only way to get the gun to function without taking weight off of the slide. The potential is there for the striker spring to bring the gun out of battery but that hasn't been an issue thus far. The manufacture doesn't market the barrel to be used in this fashion. They suggest using +P ammo. Which again defeats the purpose of the build.

    • @onlyonecannoli3952
      @onlyonecannoli3952 5 лет назад +1

      That "mod" requires NO modification. The 10mm can fire .40 reliably with stock everything. A conversion barrel is a waste of money.

    • @tristarcustoms77
      @tristarcustoms77  5 лет назад +1

      I agree.

    • @MrRdvs87
      @MrRdvs87 5 месяцев назад

      @@onlyonecannoli3952that’s kind of where I am. After a certain point, that I don’t plan to calculate, the conversion to 9mm will surpass using .40 but even with 2016 prices vs 2024 prices, it would take some time given the cost of this conversion. To be fair, I get the convenience of 9mm though because I use that way more than .40 and you may just have to pay for convenience if it’s worth it that much for you.

    I trimmed about 3 links off of the 11lb spring then stretched it back out.

    Tinkering around with a target or hunting gun is great but I’d Never do this with my CCW glocks as stock when I pull the trigger they Always go BOOM😁

  • @tristarcustoms77

    Because why would I buy two separate guns when I can achieve what I want with one gun? A Glock 34 doesn't have a six inch barrel. I don't want to hunt with 9mm but I can with 10mm. You can't hunt with anything less than a 6" barrel in TN. AND shooting 10mm as much as I shoot would be impractical. I can plink with 9mm and hunt with 10mm with one gun.

    I'm curious....Try putting this pistol back totally stock, then install only the conversion barrel, light spring and a stock Glock 9mm magazine. I bet it would go. That is all I did to my stock .40 cals and they work perfectly.

      flysubcompact that's a good idea, but stock 9mm mags won't fit in the large 10mm frame

      Jürgen Müller I've made a few more changes. Ive added custom stippling to the frame, a Vortex red dot (for hunting mostly), and the LoneWolf ultimate adjustable trigger. If you're on Facebook or Instagram search for Cumberland Gap Tactical and you'll see updated pictures along with some other work I do.

    40 sw conversion would have been better conversion. 11#spring with coils trimmed and then stretched is bad in general. the striker spring has the potential to pull the gun out of battery just before it fires. the maker of this barrel is foolish to market this product and the actual conversion itself is not sound. magazines are not suitable. slide is too heavy for reliable operation with normal springs( stretching springs is a stupid thing to do) 40 IS the better option for this gun. a dedicated 9mm is a far better option.

  • @charlieecv

    if u wanted a to shoot 9mm why didn't u buy a glock 34 mos. i bought a bought a glock 40 to shoot 10mm only. makes no sense

    • @Ub3rNo0ber
      @Ub3rNo0ber 6 лет назад +2

      It makes perfect sense. It literally saves you from buying a second fire arm.. a simple barrel and guide rod swap and you have a whole new firearm. Swap it back to go hunting.
