This scene really speaks to me. Leo brought justice to the screen in one of the most human and satisfying temper tantrums ever filmed. I feel for both of them but this scene really made me lean towards Frank. While they both have their issues, April really is the sick one here.
lynda campbell I would agree with you up until the point when Frank found a rubber tube and April spoke of her children as some kind of punishment award. But anyways that's what makes this movie great. Really makes you think. It's basically just two people unwilling and incapable of understanding each other.
lynda campbell Wow, we must have seen two totally different films. Sorry, but April was an immature, cold-hearted woe-is-me narcissist bitch. You side with her just because she's a woman, because as we all know, all women are innocent victims and all men are selfish, evil perpetrators. (Sarc)
macabregemini Uh, no. Frank promised her Paris. He promised they would move forward with their lives. Then he backed out to take an opportunity for himself. It was extremely selfish of him to do, especially when he lead her to believe that Paris was still going to happen even though he was already considering the promotion. I could say you only side with Frank because he's a man and, because as we all know, the men are always right and the women are whiny bitches.
***** He cheated on her too so idk why you even brought that up and after their fight she told him she doesn't hate him. He told her to abort the baby and she did. You can't honestly say Frank isn't to blame as well when he literally told her to abort the baby. She didn't kill herself on purpose. Killing herself was never her intention. It happened because of the abortion. Neither of them are innocent.
***** "that doesn't mean anything he was angry at the time plus they just had a fight ." which would also exclude your argument about how she said she didn't love him. They were fighting. Regardless of whether or not he was angry at the time, he still told her to abort the child. It still impacted her even though he didn't really mean it. "but she knew it was dangerous after 12 weeks." She also knew that there wasn't a 100% chance that she'd die. She thought she could beat the odds. That doesn't mean she purposely offed herself. It doesn't matter if he got an opportunity to improve their financial life. They could have lived in France for 6th months without working at all and she said she'd get a job there. Money isn't the problem nor is it the answer. They both did some shitty things and they are both to blame. I just don't know why you're so adamant about demonizing April and making Frank the saint.
what! 43 years! ha ha ha............ha............ha i will burst into tears. ha..........ha...ha....ha....hoho...ho..ho... u will kill me. Ur a very good laughing gas! hah...
What a huge contrast between Jack and Rose. The fact that Kate and Leo were able to pull off both couples perfectly just is incredible. Two of the greatest actors of all time!
Loved Leo in every single movie he's acted in. Romeo+Juliet, The Beach... He doesn't need an Oscar, he's the best actor of his generation and the world knows it.
Why the hell did you mention 2 of his worst films? If you should talk about Leo and acting, then the first thing you should say is: "What's Eating Gilbert Grape", "The Aviator", "Django Unchained", "The Departed", "The Wolf of Wall Street". Now in these films... That's acting! And this of course! This scene was wonderfully acted by both sides!
Michael Colby He was terrible in many of his earlier roles. Not all, but many... Hell, he wasn't really bad in "Gangs of New York", just overshadowed... And I mean too overshadowed. But let's be fair, most actor tend to be overshadowed by Daniel Day-Lewis, and I'm not trying to kiss ass here, but he's one of the best today honestly...
Eric Cartman Daniel is amazing, but Leo is just as amazing. Leo in Gilbert Grape, Aviator, and Wolf of Wall St are about as great as anything I have seen by DDL. But yah he was really weak in Gangs of New York, The Beach, Titanic, and a couple others. No actor is perfect.
Michael Colby Exactly. And tell me? Which actor starts off with a VERY great performance? Probably a few, but still... First years: Always bad. It's incredible what Leo managed in What's Eating Gilbert Grape though... But then Titanic and Romeo+Juliet came...
Is this even a question mate ...Leo cant be over turned by those actors featuring in marriage story ...i have no doubt that non of us have seen a actor like leo is

LMFAO
You won the Internet. 😝😝
I remember first watching this scene in the movie and thinking how brilliantly they played this scene, chemistry between these two on film is always a good watch, it would be great if they did more stuff together
my god. how the hell does leo do that?! the ability to display such a range of emotions in mere seconds. wow he is seriously talented.
Kate Winslet acting is just perfect. Fun fact, she even won the golden globe for best actress for this movie, Leo is great but was not even nominated for this movie.
This movie should've marked her fourth nomination, for real !
I kinda get the feeling that Leo will always be invited to the oscars but he's pretty much shadowbanned from getting an award even if he deserved it.
@@kucharakun3248 shadowbanned?
@@delmanpronto9374 shadowbanned is Like they invited you for formality's sake but no one in that party actually wants you to be there
If you think nominations define an actors' skills, I think you should reconsider. Alot of underestimated movies and actors that the great commitees never even consider 'cause genres don't fit or it's just not famous or discovered.
1:28 broke my heart. God Leo is amazing. how does someone fake so much pain like that??? Ugh
Like a superpower
What if he wasn’t faking the pain? I think I saw an interview where someone talked about a time they tried to cry on cue, so they remembered something from their past. What if he put himself in a place where he felt such sheer emotion, it caused him to act so intensely?
@@justondement4458 man u made me cry
This is the most brilliant piece of acting , two human beings on this planet can put together . No human ..i repeat no human can come close to this , no scene can surpass tis moment of acting , and no matter whoever tries to recreate it , it can never be recreated.
This shows how amazing of an actor Leo is. Truly a work of art.
One of Leo’s greatest performances.
Yes and most underrated too
Leo: (answers phone) Hi, this is the house of unrecognized talent!
+iAmMikecool Hahahaha please leave your message after the "I'm King of the world!"
Are you serious... He's literally the most overrated actor of all time
I like him but he's over the top too many times
No he isn’t. The academy might honk so but he’s amazing! Oh, and Meryl Streep is also not overrated
Well, lol let’s not get carried away. He’s been nominated for Oscar multiple times and has won. It’s not like he’s been totally neglected
Superb acting by both Leo and Kate..very emotional scene between best friends ❤
Why does Leonardo hate April so much??? He should just wait till May arrives..😁
Luis Lizard hahaha Mr comedy
Luis Lizard a joke so bad it's actually funny. lmao. good one.
Ahhhhaaaaaaaha 😂😂😂
Luis Lizard thats a good one right there
Luis Lizard lol
So intense! Leo and Kate have such amazing chemisty
Omg Leo's face in 0:50 he's just a little cinnamon roll I wanted to hug him so much in this because you can feel and see the pain in his expression when April says that she don't love him and hates him.
DiCaprio is such a versatile talented actor..He was great in this part.
How he didn't get an oscar for that one I'll never know
Summer Moraes but she did get one
She won a Golden Globe not an Oscar
Cause we are used to see Leo in these crazy roles.
@@david-ix7si this actually was a really different performance from him
Frank wasn't crazy at all in this movie
He was frustrated for sure but it is different
April on the other hand..
And people think Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson deserve Oscar for Marriage Story. Marriage Story wishes it had a scene with this much tension
I really can't stop thinking their fight scene is just a poor copy of this magnificent piece.
@@Steven-jd5ob omg same
Both are awesome
you can compare both movies, but to say that is outrageously stupid. they both were extremely well acted in such an intense situation. the level of consistency throughout both scenes are just overwhelmingly impressive in sense of a solution and/or despair
@@Steven-jd5ob Absolutley agree
They are both sooo incredibly good! But the ending of this scene where Leo bursts after Kate screamed blew me away. He delivered the "empty shell of a woman" line and the "why are you even married to me" so well that you literally get to feel some of what he's "feeling". This scene would have never been this powerful if it wasn't for their incredible performances, they felt like a real broken couple.
Incredible chemistry between them and their superb acting too
In the interview she did say they are best friends and in other interviews she said her kids know him as Uncle Leo. Her husband directed this movie.
The chemistry between these two is out of this world. Even when they are arguing it seems like if they were made for each other. I really hope they were together in the real life
Kates husband directed this movie. In real life they are best friends and her kids know him as Uncle Leo.
Gosh can somebody talk about Kate performance ?! Just Look at her !Her emotions are incredible ! Everybody talk about How hot Leo is and about his performance and he’s really talented I have to say, but Kate is extremely talented too.
Both are phenomenal actors and work well together
Too bad that Revolutionary Road wasn't well received by critics :/
yeah....
Not exactly, Revolutionary Road appeared in several best movies’ list in 2008. Both DiCaprio and Winslet got a lot of praise and appreciation for their performances.

OMG STOP XD
That makes me saddd
He's adorable when he's crying but when he swears too..
I’ve never seen a better actor before. I’m really happy I’m alive to see him on the screen.
I just don't know why you're so adamant about demonizing April and making Frank the saint.
when you hate April 1:08

One of the greatest movies of all time
Leo and Kate are amazing in this scene
+Eric Cartman lol IKR?!??! He was terrible in The Beach!!!
In my opinion this is light years better than Marriage Story, this is executed and acted so much better
Same
Is this even a question mate ...Leo cant be over turned by those actors featuring in marriage story ...i have no doubt that non of us have seen a actor like leo is
Different couples fight n argue in different ways.
different stories, in marriage story they don't hate each other, it is just the scene about how the divorce process can be ugly, but in this one they basically can't stand each other lol
lets not have a fight about the two and accept that they are both wonderful for their own ways
my jaw drop when the intense exchange of dialogue just so emotional and got me speechless...it was a bravo scene for both kate and leonardo
dang leo is such a good actor omg
Always has been
