Frank (Leonardo DiCaprio) and April (Kate Winslet) get into a screaming match about their lifestyle in the suburbs.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Titanic shipmates Kathy Bates, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Kate Winslet step onboard for director Sam Mendes' tale of suburban malaise in 1950s-era Connecticut. Adapted from the classic 1961 novel by author Richard Yates, Revolutionary Road tells the tale of a young Connecticut couple whose once-idealistic relationship steadily deteriorates into a ceaseless cycle of petty jealousy and bickering as they strive to retain their independence in the conformity-obsessed world of picket fences and perfectly manicured lawns. Ever since they first met, Frank (DiCaprio) and April (Winslet) saw themselves as special and different. They strive to form their relationship around higher ideals, though upon moving into their new home on Revolutionary Road, the defiant couple pledges never to be confined by the social conventions of the era. As time passes, however, Frank and April gradually become the very thing that they both feared most -- a typical suburban family complete with abandoned dreams and faded hopes. Frank loses his nerve after taking a comfortable job with a reliable salary, and April morphs into an unsatisfied homemaker desperate for passion and excitement. But April's independent spirit hasn't been suffocated just yet, and when she hatches a plan to head for Paris, her need to escape at all costs stands in direct contrast to Frank's desire to hold on to what they already have.

Except none of it was really what was bothering April at the moment. I really hate Frank in this scene. He takes a very painful moment for his wife, won't respect her request to let it go, and makes it about himself. She keeps asking him to stop and even walks away until he pushes past her barriers and she goes ballistic herself.
If anyone here is married, NEVER pick such a fight when your partner is feeling that vulnerable.

Incredible acting. They're both so damn good. A lot of the arguments in this movie made me laugh because it's ridiculous when two adults behave so childishly. It's so true to real life. Yeah, it's funny as hell! I watched this for the first time with a woman who was my soon to be ex-wife, and I said something like "been there, done that" or "de ja vu" under my breath, and things escalated from there on. We were screaming and hollering at each other just like the fuckers on the screen were! It was too rich!

The “DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH!” truly hit home for me. I’ve definitely been that frustrated/infuriated in making my point during an argument that it was almost laughable.

The two married each other for the wrong reasons. Frank married April to feel good about himself, and April thought she would feel better if she married him. They married each other to fulfill their own selfish desires. There was little room for love when they didn't really marry for love in the beginning. April was looking for ways to run away because she realized he didn't need him anymore, while Frank was trying to get her to stay because he needed her to feel good about himself. I honestly loved the movie! Good example of couple of mismatches in a marriage. An unfortunate reflection of my parents' marriage as well where having children (me) was considered an option to "save" the marriage, which I would never consider for the life of me. A child being brought into this world to save a marriage can not save a marriage, and I hope adults are logical enough to realize that they are responsible for their own happiness, and burdening a child to keep them together is a recipe for disaster.

This was actually a really good film. They both went a step further than they had done in Titanic 11 years prior to Revolutionary Road. Just observe how they emote,truly emote each moment. I do agree that they could do one more film together,to round out a Leo-Kate collaboration trilogy.

There is something truly magical about watching two of the world's finest actors shine together again. They really have that gravitas and passion that only comes from working alongside and knowing each other for years.
Leo and Kate could easily put on any Master Acting Class and show this movie because "THAT" is exactly how it's done. Precise. Purposeful. And Perfect! This movie is SO brilliant and very tragic-

These two were just outstanding in this movie, and I just feel so sorry for her she was clearly slipping and he should have seen it, tragic , one other point, these two characters were not that easy to like, they came off as selfish both of them, but she was in a LOT of pain and I felt it with her.
I just watched POSSESSION 1981 its a fantastic movie best acting I've ever seen about divorce and insanity it reminded me a little of this film..
Just saw this movie. All I can say is: Wow! This is a film not to be missed. I've become a greater admirer of DiCaprio's acting ability as a result of this film, Winslet never disappoints, and Mendes adds another superb credit to his resume with this amazing film. Watched it for free with boxxy software. Great!

I am a housewife and I live the same condition of April and I always think of suicide or running away but I love my children and don't want to leave them 😪
NEVER stay in a toxic relationship for your kids. Parents think they can hide the resentment, but children often see through it. Yes, being a parent means making sacrifices, but you should never sacrifice your own happiness for your children. I don’t know your circumstances, but I would leave and take them with you or try and coparent with their father if he’s reasonable. Good luck to you. ❤️
