    Best instructional video series on replacing Tacoma drum brakes, hands-down. It was the fact that after you rebuilt each set of pads, you showed them so the viewer could compare if it was correct or not. Awesome job

    Many don't like rear drum brakes. I don't know why. It's really not that hard to change brake shoes. The alternative these days is an electronic parking brake paired to a caliper. An old fashioned drum brake with a built in parking brake lever is much simpler and works just as well.

      Zebco. Brakes should be bled about every 2 years. I start by suctioning all fluid from master cylinder reservoir. Fill with new to bleed clean fluid through system. Do front and rear brakes. Good luck.

    • @zonie1953
      @zonie1953 3 года назад +1

      @cisa93 We have 2021 4x4 Tacoma, still drums on the rear thank goodness . The best by far, rear disc brake are parking lot cruisers. Not real work trucks !

    • @geraldevans2535
      @geraldevans2535 3 года назад +1

      @cisa93. So Tundra, F 150, F 250, Ram 150, Ram 250, and Chevrolet Silverado are parking lot cruisers? They all have rear discs. Tacoma is just long overdue for a total overhaul. Toyota got lazy with the Tacoma

    • @zonie1953
      @zonie1953 3 года назад +1

      @@geraldevans2535 Tundra and all those others are designed for north America usage where the fanboys care more about appearance than durability. The chassis of a tacoma is more based on the world renown Hilux, which also still has drum brakes on the rear. Hilux is sold In every country of the world except canada and the US . From siberia to the deserts, the discs have a tendency to get mucked up with mud and slush in very cold climates and drums are better in that instance. To say Toyota got lazy on Tacoma is just silly. I follow a guy that has a 2018 Tundra in Russia. Guess what his only complaint on the truck is ? Frozen rear calipers in winter.
      He wishes they had drums on the rear !

    • @BradThePitts
      @BradThePitts 3 года назад +1

      Even the latest Tacomas have rear drums for a few reasons. First, cost and maintenance. Second, trucks are front weight biased and rear disk brakes won't help performance very much. Third, if you are off-roading in mud or sand, you want at least the rear brakes to be not covered in schmootz.
