I enjoyed this video and the one where you went Seattle to DC. Hoping for more videos, you have the best! I love the ones where Elevation, temp, and a map with you're exact location is active. Those video's for weather people like me are amazing. I always put them on slow motion and watch them almost entirely
Your videos are awesome, thank you for taking the time out to do these - I keep coming back to them..kinda therapeutic!! Would be great to see e.g. the Washington DC to Seattle trip re-uploaded (due to the long straight stretches) but at a fps equivalent as if your driving at the speed of sound?? Would give people a feel to how fast the Thrust SSC will go when they launch in South Africa 2019/2020!! Cheers!!
Even with the speed of the time-lapse with this video, the beat-up conditions of the highways in the Midwest are clearly evident; which I'd surmise are the result of heavy vehicle/high volume use, and the weather extremes in the region. This is great to see, as I've never driven further east than Utah.
It's like you went into West Virginia so many times. Back roads can be more adventurous than the Interstate if you are willing to drive longer and have more time. My dad's friend whenever he took long road trips used to prefer taking the back road rather than the highway.
I used to live in West Virginia, which is why I did a road trip through West Virginia to many different places, either where I've lived or where I've visited often.
That's also because West Virginia has branches which are the panhandles. I was going to Moorefield, wv once from I-68 in Morgantown. Entered Maryland and drove to Cumberland, took US 220 south and ended up back in West Virginia in Keyser and the eastern panhandle. Its neat how you can do that.
I am loving the country thru your videos. I've driven to Chicago twice, but was limited on time. Have you done a cross country trip thru the Southern states? I'd love that see that.
Its 2020 and I do hope to take a trip this year even though its not looking good right now with the whole pandemic thing going on. I do currently have my happy memories of past trips to Cleveland, Columbus, Lewisburg, WV, Baltimore and as of September 2019 I'm happy to add Cincinnati to that list. Here's to many, many more trips in the future!
Take 465 around Indianapolis on the south side. Don't cut through on 38th street. GPS is wrong. It doesn't account for traffic and stop lights. Why do you travel so much? I like your videos!
My brother-in-law was driving that part of the trip, so I'll ask him. I used to exclusively fly long-distances, which is why I've learned to like doing long road trips. Thanks for your support.
@Shandra9000mail hello from Indianapolis! The 465 loop is the best way through Indy. I 70 gets narrow and congested all the time. 465 is a big circle around Indy. The northern part of the loop is busier than the south side most of the time. Its about 20 miles between the I 70 west exits. Usually an easy drive. Avoid the rush hours if you can! Safe travels!
@unclecoolie, great video, thanks so much for posting this. I got here after watching your Cal-NY video. If I may ask, what type of camera are you using, and do you think I would achieve similar results using a GoPro at 2 fps? (It does not have a 4 fps setting).
Thanks! Sorry for late reply. RUclips's notifications haven't been the best at letting me know all of the comments that I've had. I used the Mobius Action Camera, which works great as a dashcam. I looked at the GoPro, but like so many other action cameras, the time-lapse frame-rates weren't up to par with what I'd wanted. The Mobius maxes out at 4fps, but if I could get 5-6fps, I'd have used that instead. There was another action camera that I tried out that offered up to 10fps for time-lapse, but the image quality, even though it claimed to be 4k, wasn't as good as the Mobius's 1080p image quality - it was the ODRVM action camera. It's too bad that so few of these manufacturers offer higher time-lapse rates, and I don't understand why not.
Thanks for the reply! As you mentioned, 5-6 fps would be really nice. My GoPro is only 2 fps, but I need to strike a balance between fps and the length of the videos. I did a few test videos locally, then last weekend I recorded my journey from Ohio to Martinsville VA and back. GoPro Hero4 Silver, using 2 fps Time Lapse mode (the maximum fps in GoPro's Time Lapse mode). At a playback speed of 30 fps, that results in a 15x speed. Not as smooth as yours, but I'm happy with the results. Now that I have longer trip under my belt, I'm eager to film longer trips later this year.
@@pascalkotsanou3831 One of my upcoming road trip videos goes through Atlanta, but my east coast road trip is currently the only drive that I have through Maine.
I'm glad to finally see some roads I have traveled on when you go through Ohio, wish the weather had been better for ya.
I understand. The weather was better for the return trip, though.
My favourite state of this trip is Iowa, it has beautiful landscapes. Greetings from Chile ;)
Thank you. Greetings from the Washington, DC area.
Thx

Yeah, the midwest has extreme cold and hot temperatures - bad for pavements.
Ice wedging. The roads here in Michigan are 70% pothole lol

If I had enough expendable money I'd love to take scenic road trips like this
It doesn't cost that much if you budget carefully.
Kinda hard to do having a car with an 18 gallon tank that struggles to get 25 mpg
Colin Donovan you could get a rental car. They all have unlimited mileage as far as I know.
I had a rental car in Florida with unlimited miles, but you can't leave the state

I know how you feel. I was planning a couple of big trips this summer, but I don't know that I'll be able to go anywhere.
Just curious as to what vehicle you took on the trip.
This was done in a Honda Odyssey.
