On the eve of winter, the authorities are resuming the heating system destroyed by the Russian occupiers, bringing firewood for stoves and food to places where it is impossible to buy it. This is so tragic. The disruption of family life and the deaths . We pray for the innocent victims , for their safety , for their inner strength and that the children are spared the mental scars of this tragedy.
I’m always impressed at how Ukrainian state services, like mail, railways, even road repairs, have maintained service despite rapidly changing dangerous situations. Ukrposhta restored mail delivery in Kharkiv oblast just one day after liberation! All Russia has done is prove that there IS a Ukrainian state, and that it is alive and fighting back despite everything Russia throws at it. Slava Ukraini!

I can tell you from talking to my relatives (from Kherson) that the help and support from the Ukrainian government is real. Really, this tells you everything you need to know, Ukraine treats civilians with respect and does everything in their power to help. Russia on the other hand did nothing except make life harder and could care less about civilians.

*Put undrinkable-water in the pot, seal-it, put the coiled-up part of the metal-tubing in a water bath to condense the steam, & the open-end of the metal-tubing in a drinking-container.

Timber chopped now is very poor firewood. It’s far to wet. Rule of thumb: Chop in the winter, dry until autumn.

Splitting accelerates seasoning. Stack so that air gets to the wood and keep covered. But it takes time. You can burn green wood but many of the BTUs drain off making steam.
It was predicted that forests and parks would be raided for fuel. Think.... Is the cutting supervised? Think of bee habitat....this temporary measure could be a future disaster for ecology of Ukraine.

They should have warming centers with generators and fuel and bottled water. Like at churches or bomb shelters.
People like warmth where they sleep. It's nice to take the chill off at a center but they have homes, some of them.
