I've heard that using a simple single crochet or half double crochet works best for this yarn. Also the tighter stitches helps in the "worming" issue after washing. Hope this helps
So glad you found a knitted stitch that looks very lovely! I have not tried any yarn like this so I would not know any other stitch that would work well. I would have loved to see some pics of your other stitch tries to see what you meant about how the roses did not show up.
I knew what you were going to say before you said it . I tried to crochet with a similar yarn and ended up knitting a blanket in Irish moss stitch 🙂these yarns are perfect for knitters
I totally agree. I've taught myself crochet from RUclips.. I like yourself. I have tried five different crochet patterns, and it just doesn't work. So im going to do the blanket, which was a free download...
I saw your video and the yarn looks so lovely. I've never seen such yarns before. My only suggestion for a crochet stitch would be try a slip stich blanket pattern. That is the closest you'll find to a knit look. I've use that stitch in making scarves and hats. Try that and see if it comes close to what your knitted look is like. I hope you find something you wouldn't want to waste such pretty yarns. Good luck!
It would have been helpful to see samples of the crochet stitches that you tried - interesting yarn and the knitted blanket is beautiful - can't use 100% polyester myself as it creeps me out
It’s a stocking stitch main with a garter stitch border - it was by a lady at Black Sheep Wools and she printed out the pattern for us when we bought the yarn 🧶
Have you tried the knit stitch? Since it is similar to a knitted material it may help you get what you are looking for from crochet. It is a lovely looking yarn.
These yarns are more targeted for knitters. We have Premier here in the US that has a Bloom line like these and most people go down a hook size and use a single crochet to get something as close as possible to the pattern.
My question is does it worm like other yarns that have that texture? And did you try the waistcoat stitch but I'd bet that even though people say it looks like knitting it wouldn't look the same as the knitted one you showed. I'd love to try knitting it but I'm worried about worming
I love to knit and crochet. I had to read so many comments before I found your comment about the pattern your Mum is using. Do you know what size needles she used? Would love to see her final knit blanket. It's so beautiful!
Such beautiful yarn 🥰 If all else fails maybe it would be an idea to speak to one of the crochetiers at Hobbycraft? They've been a great help to me, but I'm still learning (I've just reached my 1st year Yarniversary 🤭)
I can’t knit but I can sort of crochet, slowly and awkwardly. I’ve met this problem especially with space-dyed yarns. They look great in the skein, and I’m sure they would knit up beautifully, but they’re a dog’s breakfast in crochet. I love multicoloured yarns but I have to make sure there are long stretches of each colour. Even then the yarn will only work if I use the same crochet stitch for long stretches. If I try to make some kind of texture with a mix of stitches, the texture fights with the colour changes.
I think there are simply some yarns that are best for knitting, some for crochet, and some fine for both. It reminds me a little of the hayfield blossom yarn, which I also think shows off the blossom effect better in knitting than crochet.
The only thing I can think of is to increase the size of your hook to allow your stitches to be bigger hence more yarn exposure. It sure is a beautiful fun yarn.
Sadly I didn’t take photos, I worked the sample and then frogged it to keep trying something else. I wish I’d taken photos each time, but I never thought 🌸🧶
That’s so true and I really wish I’d taken photos of each stitch that I tried, I never thought at the time, I just frogged it and started the next attempt 🌸 🐸
I wonder if it would work with a knitting board.😩 maybe the yarn companies can fix it for us to crochet. When I saw it I believe my heart stopped, especially in the bigger skeins. Keep trying. I know you can figure it out ❤
Very pretty yarn Rebekah. I love the roses. I’m sorry your sample stitches didn’t come out as you’d hope but I know your mum will make something beautiful out of it. As a knitter as well I appreciate you showing us the yarn. Might I suggest the Tunisian Knit stitch? It looks like knitting even though it’s crochet. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing.❤
Have you thought about trying to knit a blanket. I am originally a knitter (since childhood) and of course still knit. However a few years ago I saw one of your video tutorials on You Tube and I decided that I could learn how to crochet with your guidance. Many blankets , scarves, hats etc. I can now do both. All things are possible 😀😀❤️🧶
I tried a blossom yarn and agree it’s really meant for knitting in the round to get the blossom effect. And knitting in a baby’s size so you get the repetition to work out. I ended up crocheting a baby hat in the round in single crochet and I did get the blossom effect but it was not worth it for me because it’s just too unpredictable. I’ll leave that yarn to the knitters. 😀
I tried to crochet with this wool and didn't like it so l gave away the wool someone told me to try a size 9 crochet hook l just got to frustrated with it
Oh I saw this yarn at Michaels. They had bigger skeins at $10.00 . I fell in love with it but I was wondering how it would work up in crocheting. Beautiful if we can get it to work up in crocheting. I hope you can find one. I’d love to have a throw of blanket. It’s beautiful 😍❤️
I haven’t seen this yarn in the states. Oh, I love it too; I need to make a baby boy blanket! Well, w the rose buds maybe it’s not suitable for a boy🤭. I better stick w a gingham blanket.
"It practically launched itself into the basket." 🤣 I'll have to remember that! ❤ I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience with it. It is gorgeous knitted. Can you return it for either an exchange or refund? Or sell it unless your Mom is using it of course. Have you tried larger hooks? Occasionally companies come out with yarn like that one and it's impossible to make it work. Good luck! I wish I could help.
I think maybe your trying to hard. Simple stitched would probably work best. Maybe single crochet in the back loop. Or I don’t know if you ever color pool, but maybe that would work. It doesn’t have to be in a argyle pattern, even if they stack it would be ok. Think about simpler stitches and keep playing around. You’ll get there. ❤ good luck!
Would have liked to see your crochet test pieces in this yarn. It certainly does look pretty! 🌸💙🌸
I would too
I second this
I thought the same thing. 😕
I tried the slip stitch and got a beautiful result. It looked just like tiny flowers.
Wonderful! Did you just work rows of slip stitches? I might give it a try!
Yes, Just slip stitch.
Good luck😊
What a lovely yarn!! It would have so interesting so see the result of the crochet you made. Is it poosible? Thank you for showing the yarn!

Absolutely! My mum is LOVING this yarn 😅🥰🧶
I totally agree. I've taught myself crochet from RUclips.. I like yourself. I have tried five different crochet patterns, and it just doesn't work. So im going to do the blanket, which was a free download...
It was such a shame, I loved it so much, just wish I could knit 🧶

I wanted to see what you had worked up crocheted.
I had no samples as I just kept frogging them to try something new 🧶🌸
So sorry the crochet stitches didn't work out. I still would have loved to see a sample of the crocheted versions. You Mom's blanket is gorgeous.
i really wanted to SEE the crochet version as well... 🙁
Yeah I wish I’d had thought to take photos of each stitch that I’d tried! 🧶
@@BlossomCrochet 😆...it was a great video and you did save me from an expensive mistake.... thanks !
@@sharonolsen6579 maybe I’ll do a follow up video if I get chance, with some of the ones I tried, to show how they looked 🌸
Have you tried calling the King Cole company and discussing what they recommend for this yarn for crocheters? They might have suggestions for you.
Good idea!
It would have been helpful to see samples of the crochet stitches that you tried - interesting yarn and the knitted blanket is beautiful - can't use 100% polyester myself as it creeps me out
Yeah I’m so annoyed with myself for not thinking to take photos of the stitches that I tried before I ripped them out to try something else! 🌸
@@sophia23346 Wow, religious nut job comes flying in from left-field for no apparent reason
You listed the moss stitch, but did you try larger hooks with that stitch ?
Hello....I have made infinity Scarf using same yarn. I did half double crochet stich with no.9 crochet hook. It came out very beautiful
Have you tried a half double slip stitch? That looks a lot like knitting. Such pretty yarn.
Lovely yarn, sad tho you couldn't crochet nut glad you knitted, looks fantastic, well-done Rabecca...🤩
What about doing the waistcoat crochet stitch it looks like a knitted stitch? Love this yarn it look gorgeous x
That yarn is so pretty, haven't seen anything like that, now I want some myself!
I would love to know what pattern your mum is using with this yarn, please.

I’ll add it to my list to try!
That’s what I was thinking.
Where did you purchase this beautiful yarn ?
I got it from Black Sheep Wools but it’s also available in other places online too 🌸🥰🧶
I have found a similar disappointment with Crofter, looks fab knitted but somehow the Fairisle effect gets lost. :-(
It’s so frustrating 😕🌸
Have you tried overlay mosaic crochet? With a plain blue chenille yarn every other row?
The knitted sample looks amazing.
These yarns are more targeted for knitters. We have Premier here in the US that has a Bloom line like these and most people go down a hook size and use a single crochet to get something as close as possible to the pattern.
Have you tried the linen st
I used a similar yarn to thks and made v stitch scarves. Its very hard to work with and i think the open stitch helped a bit with that.
Maybe tunision stitch or granny square?
What about Tunisian? I’m wondering if that would come out too similar to the knitting. The yarn is absolutely gorgeous!
Have you tried waistcoat stitch? It looks just like knit. Or maybe some sort of Tunisian knit stitch?
I’ve tried a few Tunisian stitches so far but there’s still a couple more to attempt 🧶
Did you try front post crochet? I would like to see how that turns out, thanks for sharing and stay well.
My question is does it worm like other yarns that have that texture? And did you try the waistcoat stitch but I'd bet that even though people say it looks like knitting it wouldn't look the same as the knitted one you showed. I'd love to try knitting it but I'm worried about worming

Hi, just wondered how many stitches your Mum cast on and, how many balls of yarn for that size blanket please. TIA
I can’t knit but I can sort of crochet, slowly and awkwardly. I’ve met this problem especially with space-dyed yarns. They look great in the skein, and I’m sure they would knit up beautifully, but they’re a dog’s breakfast in crochet. Would Tunisian crochet work?
That yarn is really lovely. Can I ask what stitch(es) or pattern your Mum is making up?
Course! It’s stocking stitch for the main and garter stitch for the border 🌸
I think there are simply some yarns that are best for knitting, some for crochet, and some fine for both. It reminds me a little of the hayfield blossom yarn, which I also think shows off the blossom effect better in knitting than crochet.
I use king cole yummy yarn.i use granny square for crochet and it comes out lovely
Sounds great! 🥰
Hi Rebecca. Have you tried the stacked shells?
I have a king Cole pattern for the yummy yarn using trebles and pop corn stitch, maybe try a combination of those?
I only use the plain ones and some of the other multicolour ones for crochet soft toys and they’re fab but it’s a shame when the patterns are lost.
Have you tried Tunisian crochet with it. it looks like beautiful yarn
Did you try different hook sizes? A larger size hook would show the roses better because there is more space between stitches.
I was using a 6mm hook for my samples - I could try a bigger one and see if it makes a difference, thanks for the suggestion 🌸🧶
The knitted blanket is lovely. I understand what you mean about it not being a yarn for crochet. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and views on it❤❤🤗🤗
I really didn’t like a similar yarn but I made two doll blankets in sc just to use it up! Never again with this type of yarn!
Maybe try the crochet Afghan stitch 😍 the stitches are worked on the long crochet hook, it has another name but in USA it's known as Afghan stitch 😁
Tunisian knit stitch may work.
The only thing I can think of is to increase the size of your hook to allow your stitches to be bigger hence more yarn exposure. It sure is a beautiful fun yarn.
I made a scarf for my dh with a similar yarn and even though it wasn't washed it still wormed
Did you try the US single crochet or slip stitch? If not give them a try.
You could try the camel stitch. I think that’s what it’s called. You half double in the back bar of the previous stitch
Beautiful yarn had to buy it! Xx thank you for sharing xx
What about tunisian crochet
Darn, that was such a gorgeous yarn too.
Did you try the crochet knit stitch that is often used in scarves?
Where are the samples,of the crochet stitches so we can see what it looks like ?
Sadly I didn’t take photos, I worked the sample and then frogged it to keep trying something else. I wish I’d taken photos each time, but I never thought 🌸🧶
Thanks for the reply. I've used variegated yarn for a crocheted shawl and it's looked really blotchy. I guess that's how it looked.
It’s so pretty, it’s sad that you can’t crochet it to show the beautiful flower pattern. The knitted version is lovely. 💜🙏🏻
The yarn is gorgeous. I wonder how it would go on one of those knitting machines.
Did you try Tunisian crochet, knit stitch? ❤
Id love to find the blue!!! I need a blanket out of this ❤
It’s soooo beautiful! I got mine from Black Sheep in the U.K. and I know Wool Warehouse have it - but not sure if you’re overseas 🧶🌸
@@BlossomCrochet yes, I'm in the US 🙈
Rebekah, which pattern are you using for the knitted blanket? It looks awesome!
It’s a stocking stitch for the main and then garter stitch border 🥰🧶
@@BlossomCrochet Thank you! I have to confess, I thought it was ribbing of some kind - must be the effect of that amazing yarn!
What about (us terms) half double crochet third loop in back? Idk. It is beautiful and so frustrating when that happens!!
What about Tunisian crochet?
I tried a couple of Tunisian stitches and it still didn’t sit quite right for me, there’s still a few others to try though 🌸🧶
You should have shown a few samples of the crochet stitchesbyou did

Ive used this yarn and yes patterns beautiful but the yarn itself splits falls apart.

Perhaps a modified Tunisian simple stitch or a Tunisian full stitch.
Yeah I tried a couple of Tunisian stitches but there’s still some more to attempt 🥰🌸

Definitely for knitting patterns ❤
Seems so! 🥺
How about Tunisian crochet?
Tunisian crochet handles thick yarn rather well
Is wonderful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Love the yarn but can't afford the shipping costs!
I bought some and it didn't do what I thought either.

I don't think it matters if you can't see the roses. It would still be pretty.
Aww Rebecca I'm glad you found something ❤
Maybe it is time for creating a petition to these big yarn companies to stop ignoring crocheters when designing yarns?
What about a slip stitch
I think if you couldn't get it done none of us can! ☮️🌍🌲
I’m gonna keep trying! But I think I may have to admit defeat and just get one of the other colours instead 🌸🧶
@@BlossomCrochet It is very pretty yarn!
So many of these yarns are for knitting, I think the only crochet stitch for these would be the single crochet.
So pretty
Would a larger hook be better? Otherwise you are going to have to knit it😂
