If you've encountered the Audi SOS error, what was the fix? I just encountered the Audi SOS error on my 2020 Audi A4 and am not thrilled. I pressed the volume button on the steering wheel for many seconds but that did not resolve the issue. I also held the "SOS" button for about a minute but that did not resolve the issue either. The Audi SOS error comes and goes. Unfortunately, it makes an annoying alarm sound whenever it reappears. Also, when I call people via my car's bluetooth, I can hear the person that I'm speaking with but they cannot hear me. Also, the Audi App no longer functions. I'm unable to view vehicle status, vehicle location or unlock the doors via the app. This is very frustrating and I purchased the base model Audi intentionally to avoid all of the electronic gadgets that could break. #Audi #SOS

I have had that SOS Error on my A4 modell 2020. I let the local audi dealer (Germany) analyse and fix it. It turned out that the SOS related antenna, located somewhere behind the back bumper cover was defect. It was said that an water inleakage caused the antenna defect. SOS Error was indicated by a red instead of the green light in the roof area and same error message as yours in mmi. Bluetooth was continiously working, and I was able to reach SOS operator by seting up a call via the SOS button. Finally the antenna and appropriate cables were exchanged. Now its working.

Happy to hear! I actually got out of this car when used car prices surged. I drive an Acura Integra now. It's super reliable and handles great! The Audi did a better job of cancelling out road noise and wind noise while driving though.

Please call your preferred Audi Dealer and schedule an appointment to receive a complimentary software update. The update will deactivate the 3G hardware in the vehicle to disable a warning message displayed on the driver information screen and prevent the vehicle from emitting an audible chime meant to warn the driver when the vehicle is not connected and emergency services are not available. Depending on when you took delivery of your vehicle, you may be eligible to receive motion for Audi connect installed free of charge.

I ended up getting out of the lemon when used car prices surged. I have a 2021 Jetta now and so far ZERO electronics or mechanical issues after 10,000+ miles. I’m going to see where Audi stands with quality in a few years or maybe get a BMW without run-flat tires.

@@IrixGuy Volkswagen group owns dozens of high-performance automakers, including Lamborghini, Bugatti, Porsche, and Bentley. It has owned 50% + Audi since 1965. My guess is that most of these brands share the same internal components. Take care of your car give it regular maintenance and it should do fine.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your Audi are not necessarily manufactured by Audi. No cause for concern, as Audi designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for Audi for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine Audi parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of an Audi logo.

I am not sure which year or models this impacts but I also have an SOS error. Audi dealer said it is part of a recall so I could elect to have them disable the message or do a retro fix. They advised the root cause is because the SOS SIM is 3G AT&T and AT&T turned off their 3G service. The fix is Audi will provide a device that gets plugged into the car dataport (OBD) that then syncs with the Audi Motion App you install on your phone. I had to make a decision then and there or forfeit the fix. I took the fix but looking into it now and may decide against it. Seems like a cheap fix to the problem and I am not sure if the SOS button would even work on the car after. I think you have to use the app at that point.

Must be a major issue across the VAG group as I'm having this on my UK spec Skoda Octavia (for all in the US and Canada this is based on the Golf platform). Noticed this about a week ago so will ring the dealer next week. To to add, re the bankorder for parts, I've had to wait six weeks for an O2 sensor!!!!! Car has travelled only 8500 miles, loads of software faults.

This issue is across all of VAG, I have the same fault with 2021 ŠKODA Enyaq but I can use all the systems and the emergency call does actually work. My SOS module was replaced and it’s worked for a couple of months now it’s back again and won’t go away. 3 weeks wait for diagnostic with local dealer.

Yikes! I drive a 2021 Jetta SEL now with wireless Apple CarPlay. It even downloads over-the-air firmware updates. 1,500 miles so far and ZERO issues (fingers crossed). Maybe VAG has finally fixed their electronics issues? TBD. How do you like Skoda BTW? We don’t have those VAG vehicles in North America.

The reason why this error appeared is because AT&T shut off 3G and theses cars were still using 3G modems. The same issues happens on bmws too

So this has happened to me 3 times now in a year. Each time they replaced the part that manages this. Last time was in Jan '22. This is clearly an issue that is with many of their models and they don't want to do a recall so instead deny there is a pattern. Unfortunately, these cars are all effectively lemons. There appears to be no long term fix here. Shame on Audi!

I finally got rid of my 2020 Audi A4 because used car prices went through the roof. I drive a 2021 VW Jetta now and so far (fingers crossed) ZERO electronics issues AND it has already downloaded an over-the-air firmware update. Maybe VAG has fixed their tech 2021. I’m sticking to VW until Audi gets their act together. Best of luck!

I just bought a used A4 Allroad and it has this issue. I didn't know that when I purchased it. Audi told me the part # is 4KE035283B. They also told me that a used one wouldn't work as they're configured at the factory to go with the VIN on the car. I'm not sure that's the case but trying to fact-check it. The module is available to purchase online but whether it's used or new, I'm worried it may be from the original manufacturer and may not work again. Ugh. Not sure what to do next. Sounds like there are a lot of us waiting on these and my Audi guys won't give me a date. Always a bad sign.
