My husband just walked into the kitchen holding a well kept antique Sklar = Burdizzo Estate sale find & he knew I would want it.😅 My son dove into raising goats awhile back but we haven't had to do this yet. I'm taking this as a cue for this season Thank you for the video. My son is disgusted, but I'm ready😂❤
Suggest you check the instrument for sprung jaws before using . Ag class, shown how to test. Take a piece of uncrushed straw or grass stem, placed between a piece of folded paper. Apply the edge of jaws, clamp shut. Open, the straw should be split , but paper undamaged. Repeat test on opposite side of the clamp. One side may be effective, yet other sprung. Remember to check for success about six weeks after. Sometimes, rare, only one side takes. In which case repeat the operation carefully.
@@trwilkinson4623 thank you! They seem to open and close very smoothly. There doesn't seem to be anything to go out of whack. No springs, etc. I'll look into it further. Thanks again!
@@azsunburns , the term " sprung" " isn't a obvious gap between the closed jaws, it just means that adequate pressure is not applied to the cord to effect loss of blood flow. Clamps should be stored with the jaws open to maintain effective. After much use the tool may become unreliable. If used for lamb tail docking, bone may alter setting, so not guaranteed to castrate. According to leaflet in with a new set. Hope your set work satisfactory for you.
Thank you for this video. We have banded before, but just did the burdizzo today after watching you.
Thank you very much ma
It would be also nice to repeat procedure every hour for few days.
Is the procedure the same for sheep? Still 10 seconds?
I saw another video about the Side Crusher, which was used on a lamb. Do you think the Side Crusher would work on Nigerian Dwarf Bucklings / Bucks?
Thamk you for informative video.

Your music is up really loud. It's hard to hear what you're saying at the start.

It takes up to 30 days for any method
