With that type of injury you must likely suffered a strain/sprain to the wrist area. Your pain may be secondary to wrist instability, in that case prolotherapy will help.

Hi, I receive Prolo every 4 weeks or so for the past 2 months on my infraspinatus/rear deltoid. I last received therapy 2 days ago. Today I went to the gym and did some weight training using about 40% my normal lifting weight. My shoulder feels very sore and I feel heat and inflammation. Is this normal? And if I did go too hard/too fast is this going to negate the further healing effect and properties of the prolo treatment? Thanks very much,
A couple of things to consider here: A. Are you are improving with the 2 treatments you had already? Less pain? Feel shoulder more stable? If not, then you need evaluation, probably more treatments prior to starting lifting weights. B. Prolotherapy will strengthen your ligaments and tendons but not your muscles (this is only possible with exercises). It is important that your rotator cuff muscles, who are the dynamic stabilizers of the shoulder, and the scapular muscles (rhomboids, middle trapezius) are strong so you are able to safely perform weight lifting activities (particularly above the head exercises). The only way to strengthen these are with specific exercises that people don't normally do at the gym. C. If 2-3 sessions of prolo are not helping with your pain, then you should consider PRP (What is PRP?), which is a stronger regenerative medicine technique, usually use for more severe cases or the ones that do not respond to prolo. D. Soreness for a couple of days after training but that then goes away is normal (particularly if you are just restarting lifting weights). But, start slow, go slow and if it is hurting go even slower (less intensity). Hope this helps.
Jose Barreto Thank you very much Doctor. I would answer all those questions but I don't want to clog up this comment page or use up your time. I appreciate your advice.

I have been diagnosed with Rio vertebrobasilar insufficiency on the right vertebral artery. The doctor added that 'the right vertebral artery is very small' compared to the left. Would prolotherapy help a case like mine? Thanks.
Prolotherapy will not help with vascular issues. If there is an associated cervical instability or joint pain, then it can help for that but not for the vascular issue per se

My pain therapist hasn't addressed the trigger points verbally or with the injections. Wouldn't the trigger points have to be "released" before the prolo injections could do their job?
Discuss with your therapist what he/she thinks is causing those knots and then treat the cause of that. Often times these "knots" are caused by issues at the enthesis points (the areas where tendon and ligaments attach to bones) where the muscles then react by creating a spasm to try to stabilize the area, but this then causes pain and dysfunction.

Hello Jose, I fractured the radial head of my right arm (non displaced) 7 months ago. I'm a keen drummer and this has prevented me from drumming. I rested my arm for 4 weeks and then did my range of motion exercises for 4 months and before I felt like I could get back onto the drums. I played a couple of times and the second time I played I overdid it, and I've had an irritated arm ever since. I can hear a clicking in my arm during pronation and supination, and there is a constant dull ache in the centre of the joint capsule. It feels like the annular ligament has been disturbed but I'm not sure. I had an MRI scan and everything looks fine but I still experience a lot of pain which is frustrating. The elbow doesn't feel as structurally sound when I move it around as I can feel some very slight movement in the joint with aggravates it even more. I'm considering prolotherapy, do you think this might help? Sorry for the essay!
Hi Craig, The annular ligament is an important structure of the superior radioulnar joint since it keeps the proper position and makes 4/5th of joint. The annular ligament is a structure that can be treated with prolotherapy. You should definitely try it.
Prolotherapy as effective joint treatment has nothing to do with dextrose. It has NOTHING to do with inflammation. Also tendons and ligaments are not treated to regenerate due to pain. WRONG information. These are all OLD and wrong theories. Although this video is 9 years old, it’s still up!!! STOP promoting wrong theories. It’s the stimulation by microinjury to the tendons and ligaments that inform them to regenerate, as occurs with actual injury. Platelets stop the bleeding at the injection sites (shallow and deep) and call on growth factors to regenerate all microinjured tissue. Inflammation is an unrelated concomitant due to the microinjury but it is not AT ALL the reason the platelets begin the regenerative process. In fact inflammation gets in the way of healing and only lasts a couple of days with microinjury vs actual injury. Adding whole platelets (PRP) is beneficial for the work to be done to heal and regenerate as more regeneration occurs with additional whole platelets. With a sufficient number of treatments, the tissues are both strong and flexible again vs weak and stiff. Pain is not the cause of weak joints, thinned down and injured ligaments and tendons is the reason AND THE ONLY reason. Ligaments and tendons do not regenerate on their own after degeneration starts. This is the SOLE reason for prolotherapy. In terms of what is in the syringe, it could be saline, sugar, or it could be nothing. Dextrose helps a tiny bit in that the body recognizes that when there is injury, sugars are released. This is simply a small stimulant to the body to do what it is going to do anyway after injury. Let’s get the right information to the public! Good art though, maybe you should go into art?
Just be advised that the success rate for prolotherapy is only 80-90% I have had extensive treatments, (15), and my knee didn't get completely better. I was lied to about a lot of things by the receptionist during my treatments.
ive only had 2 treatments for my knee. pain gone forever..this thing is the real deal..you have to have a strong immune system or else it will take many more sessions.you also need a skilled prolotherapist who injects a lot of strong solution and many injections per session.not just 1-2 injections..
What is your diet like? Some foods cause arthritis. Look into the Paleo diet. You need to take out gluten/grains/dairy/soy/sugar because they are all high inflammatory and can give you arthritis. My husband had achey knees before we changed our diets. He was able to start running again, got more energy and started doing marathons.
I had prolo for my knee and it only helped somewhat. What worked the best was the hyaluronic gel injection. I would try that and an MRI before getting a knee replaced.

And if I did go too hard/too fast is this going to negate the further healing effect and properties of the prolo treatment? Thanks very much,
A couple of things to consider here:
Hope this helps.

sir I am college student from India and i had accident almost in June which was not so serious only my right ankle got twisted I got inflamiation and I went to doctor x Ray confirmed that I don't have a bone injury and it's just a sprain but doctor told me to have plaster and I had and after 15 days he opend that and the pain was their and then pain was their actually then I showed to another doctor he said it's ligament injury sir it's almost November 5 months and their is always a mild pain when I get up from my bed in morning and remain almost whole day the pain is not intense but above all sir I am not able concentrate on any of thing plzz help me out sir.
Does your ankle heal ??
Can prolotherapy reduce extension in my hitchhiker thumb ? (i'm born with hitchhiker thumb and i don't have pain..i want to reduce extension becouse i have loose grip)
If there is joint hyper mobility at other joints as well, then prolotherapy could help tighten the ligaments. If not, then I am not sure (I haven't treated a patient for this before).
@@Regenomics yes, i have hypermobility in almost all my joints on my body..i guess i can hyperextended my thumb becouse i have loose ligaments and if prolotherapy tightened ligaments then it could help. Thanks for replying doc!
@@TheDamianTVChannel You are welcome, I wish you the best.
Hello Jose,
I fractured the radial head of my right arm (non displaced) 7 months ago.
Hi Craig,
The annular ligament is an important structure of the superior radioulnar joint since it keeps the proper position and makes 4/5th of joint. The annular ligament is a structure that can be treated with prolotherapy. You should definitely try it.
Thanks for your reply Jose, I'm definitely going to try it
I watched the video - so what is prolotherapy?
Injections with a solution that includes dextrose in order to strengthen weak tendons and ligaments to improve pain and function.
@@Regenomics Thanks. Any idea how dextrose works in this treatment?
Thank you - excellent explanation.
Yes it can.
WHY the whistling ??? It is very annoying.
Sorry about that.
Really good video. Thank you
excellent video! thankyou

Thank you Dr. Ettedgui!
Good for you. Even the best prolo-therapy doctors say they only have a 90% success rate. There are a lot of people that prolo-therapy didn't work for.
Excelente video!!!
Sooo the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
Gracias!!!
Hi Dr. Barreto,
I'm Dr. Daniel Wang from Taiwan, vice president of Taiwan Association of Prolotherapy and Regenerative Medicine (TAPRM). We've been to HHF and AAOM, and really want to publicize this great technique and treatment. We've also invented Dr. Stanley Lam, Dr. Lenny Horwitz, Dr. John Lyftogt to Taiwan for many wonderful workshops. In order to make people here understand prolo, may I ask for your authorization to translate this video into Madarin?
Here is our FB page: facebook.com/ProloTW
Thank you.
A 15 year old wouldn't have gone to all the other videos about Prolotherapy, so why didn't you? It wasn't the delivery that you should be focused on but the message. I think that what you needed more was a cup of coffee so you can complain about who made it.
Prolotherapy is given to candidates who suffer from arthritis and people who are in constant pain and in an inflammatory state, this video does not talk about that all, very disappointed..
Please refer to time 3:28 where it says that it i used to treat pain and/or arthritis for all the different areas.
Theres no proof though
There are a few studies showing the efficacy of Prolotherapy. This website is a good resource since it has a list of most of the studies done about prolotherapy. www.drreeves.com
@@Regenomics yes but theres no actual proof and the images on xrays and Mri are proven to be fake personally stem cells work prp does but why dosent prolotherapy
@@wokeok7450 Well, maybe your personal experience is different than mine. For me and my patients, Prolotherapy works. Go to pubmed and search "Prolotherapy", you will see over 200 published studies, the first one in 1960 by Dr. George Hackett. There is level 1 research evidence for knee, elbow, hands and level 2 evidence for lumbar, SIJ, Achilles, pubis and ACL.
Dr. Gaston Tool in Argentina, conduced a study showing arthroscopic evidence of growth of cartilage. Thanks for your question.
I wish they would have had a more straightforward way of presenting this.. I don't like the drawing and the cartoonish stuff ..it always gives me the impression they're trying to reach an audience of 15 year olds because lot of people are dumb down nowadays.
