    How would you go about mastering after mixing into it ? Do you bypass the limiter and start another God particle plug in on the master track ?

    • @bedroommusicproducer
      @bedroommusicproducer  4 месяца назад

      Apparently Jaycen is mixing AND mastering all in 1 instance of this plugin. Assuming this is true, he’d probably turn off the limiter to start as he dials in the mix, then flip it on to dial in the dynamics. This is personally how I’ve used it. If you wanted to master the mix, then I’d just turn off the limiting and apply whatever processing you’d like after this plugin. Wouldn’t go too crazy though- this really does a lot!

    Having some time to really dive into this plug-in on several mixes and masters now (across genres as well)..it works really well, but there are a couple of things that I discovered to get consistent results. First as others have pointed out, use a eq in front of it to get some broader strokes done, I have been using SlickEQ from Tokyo Dawn Records or the new T-Bone 2 from Boz Digital. Second you really need to control your dynamics coming into the plug-in. A combination of clipping and limiting to control your peaks so you can drive that input knob in the plug-in to where your level is in the green most of the time and you are not clipping the plugins input. You should start seeing activity over in the balance meters. Low and mid you hopefully are close and can tweak eq within the plug-in or in the eq before the plug-in to get it landing and lighting up the green in those two pretty regularly. I find the high box more problematic, lighting it often to me results in too much energy in the high frequencies so I prefer to only have that being lit occasionally with maybe a db or half a db reduction there. Finally use a good true peak limiter after the plug-in to catch any inter sample peaks. I use a variety of ones here but I really like Tokyo Dawn’s limiter 6 for it, and it also gives you the option to turn off the limiter in God Particle and use the various modules in it to refine your limiting. Good luck, hope this helps someone out there.

      Kyle, big thanks for sharing what you've been experimenting with in hopes to help us! I've noticed the same thing regarding the high indicator box... One of the biggest differences between writing a song and writing a book is the number of words you’ll use. A novel might use 80,000 or more words to describe a story, but with a song lyric you really only get a tiny fraction of that; maybe 100 words or so.

  • @danielmcdill
    @danielmcdill 2 года назад +2

    Get your input right...adjust the eq till the multi band is good.. hit the ext button up top and BAM! Open and punchy yet warm

    Does segue counts on an album 💿 even though it has song structure aka arrangement aka song writing process aka story too?

    • @bedroommusicproducer
      @bedroommusicproducer  2 года назад +1

      I would say it does count! I understand segue to mean: continue without pause to another section. So I view segue as an artistic choice. Usually an album is viewed as one big story by the artist or band. So they could use segue as a way to transition from song to song, but also as a way to furthers the story and connect things to the "big concept" of the whole album. Hope this helps!

      @@bedroommusicproducer It'sa great tool for some fast mastering but you will get better results adding a Pro Q3 before the plugin and adding a shelf adding more highs (the God particle is pretty dark) and using another limiter after the plugin like Sonible smart limiter. Give it a try. best chain for some fast good mastering. Jaycen has a dark sound in the default and you can't add enough extra highs with the plugin.

    And that story should ideally end with whatever the song lyric provides. In story songs, the words are the story, but in most song lyrics, it might be best to take the time to write a 1- or 2-page story that describes what’s going on, even if the specific details of that story (or some of them) remain unsaid in your final lyric.

    • @bedroommusicproducer
      @bedroommusicproducer  2 года назад +1

      Usually the songs on an album are the result of an artist's creations during a season of life. This means the songs can all speak to a similar set of themes, ideas and topics. So the aim of an album name is to try and sum up the big story/concept that all the songs pull from when they were written. It's not always like these, especially today. But traditionally, an album is like a "book" with the songs inside being like "chapters." Fun stuff! (I think 🤓)
