    As far as low-budget, direct-to-video sequels go, "The Crow: Salvation" is actually a pretty solid movie. Sure, it's obviously hampered by a lack of time and funding, but it's entertaining and fairly well-made, and it's easily the best of the sequels for me. It's a shame that as of 2018, it's the only one you can't get on Blu-Ray in R1 territories. It's the only one other than the original I'd probably go out of my way to buy in HD.

    The Crow Salvation serves more as a mystery/thriller and makes Alex Corvis like a detective solving his murder while methodically pursuing the perpetrators.

    I love The Crow: Salvation. It's my second favorite next to the original.
    My mom and I watched Wicked Prayer when it first came out because she knew I was a huge Crow fan, but I hated it. She hated it. It was not a fun time. Like, what was the point of bringing in like, devil worship to The Crow? I guess it was technically in the first one, too, but it didn't make up the whole movie. Jeez.

      With a bigger budget and less of a "made for TV" look, Salvation could have been amazing.

    A new crow movie should be a Mexican cartel executing a man and his family for mistaken reasons. He gets thrown in a shallow grave with his wife and kids and is resurected.

    I felt the reveal of the main bad guy was a bit of a let down. I Love the city of angels alot more since I found the future city and the villains more memorable. I want to know more about the future LA and the cult villains of city of angels where here I wasn't interested in the world or characters. The comics also have a lot of interesting takes of the crow but then it is set in a modern world only Eric Draven's story stands out since it was the 1st

    Danzig playing in the background makes anything cooler. You ever see Danzig's cameo in Prophecy 2? I dont know if Ill ever check out this one, but I still wanna check out The Crow 2. Damn hahaha Tara Reid in Crow 3 is enough to make me not wanna see that movie hahaahha. Excellent review lee -- loving the sound effects and transitions, and the detail you go into is always awesome. What do you think about Evan Peter's -- the guy who plays Quick Silver in Xmen DoFP playing The Crow in a reboot?

    • @DrumdumsMovieReviews

      +TheLateReviews I'd definitely be interested in seeing what Evan Peters brings to the role. There's actually a few actors I wouldn't mind for Draven. John Huston (Boardwalk Empire) was on tap the last go-round and I think he would've been excellent. Thanks bro. I'm loving your reviews as well. You have such a natural approach to your reviews.

    I really like and appreciate how the story is fresh . As much as I loved the first one I really loved this one a lot for its new aspects but yea the flash back scenes are too colorful for me I’m dull I guess lol. Eric Mabius is good in some scenes of this . I never Finnished wicked prayer either it is so bad from the fallen angel “ twist “ or whatever the hell that was . I don’t have the salvation score album but have the original score and soundtrack. My favorite scene in this movie tho would have to be when Alex is telling Dunst in detail how her sister died to to make her rethink her wanting to die. It was pretty sad and a well done scene.

    This was a fantastic movie. By far better than 2. Rewatched 1-3. And this is on par with the first. The music Story. Characters. Was great. Every time I want to watch The Crow series, I usually watch this before 1 and 2. I guess this gets some hate or dislike. But to me? I didn't see any flaws. 2 was a bore for me. This was much different than the other 2. It's a story about a guy wanting to avenge the death of his girlfriend,, wanting to bring justice. The story felt much more relate-able than the first 2 stories. Also realized Louis from Pet Cemetery was in here. I always go back and re-watch the movie more than the others. Alex Corvis was a much more aggressive Crow. Which made him much more interesting than the prior. That car chase scene with Louis from Pet Cemetery was amazing imo. 3 epic songs playing in a 6 minute scene. Warm Winter. Living Dead Girl. Belly Of The Beast. Badass car explosion that fits the actions Alex was doing and the song picked up after. You don't see many modern day movies trying to fit cool songs in awesome scenes nowadays.
    I showed my friends the Crow movies since they never seen the series and was before their time. And after watching 1-3, they all said 3 was definitely the best.. And for good reason too. The makeup of the new Crow was probably my favorite out of the 3. The bigger blackness around the eyes made him look scarier imo. More vengeful. Two was god awful. One was the amazing. Really wish this series would come back as a TV Series at least. Create new stories with it. Explore the concept of The Crow!

    A few of The Crow comics are period pieces (Wild West, WWII, etc). Since everyone likes to “get woke” now, the next movie (or maybe video game) should be set in the South in the 60’s and revolve around an interracial couple who are murdered by the Klan. The man gets resurrected and has to uncover the identities of his killers

    City of angles
    Salvation
    And Wicked prayer for the first time today and I must say I enjoyed city of angles and salvation but I don’t know how I feel about wicked prayer just yet. But nothing will ever top Brandon Lee’s performance as the original crow there’s been possible rumors of the crow remake coming soon as well but I don’t think they should do it but it’s Hollywood there running out of ideas when it comes to films I also heard they are remaking Stephen Kings fire starter

    I’ve always wanted to see a crow movie where they play with the concept of a child or a woman taking up the mantle. Part of what made the crow so appealing is the character’s internal struggles while on their revenge mission. Imagine a child trying to get revenge for the death of their mother or a woman getting revenge for her and her child’s death. The story could be amazing if done right

      There was a comic mini-series where a young girl who was raped and murdered becomes a Crow, but doesn't (Appearently) seem to understand things, while a cop is trying to track down the killer. And yeah, she more guides the cop into killing the killer, but still has her own form of revenge planned. Forgot the name of the mini-series.

    I liked this movie and the soundtrack though I don't own the soundtrack myself never been able to find a copy. There was a few scenes stolen from the first movie like the fall from the top of the building. I think if they was to do another film they should look at the Flesh and Blood graphic novel and use the Woman Crow. I mean let's face it at present women in strong leads is the rage right now and that novel would be perfect.

  • @Moviefan2k4

    Tim DeKay was one of the villains in this; he later starred in "White Collar". Dale Midkiff's probably most famous from "Love Potion No. 9" with Sandra Bullock, and the short-lived show "Time Trax". Jodi-Lyn O'Keefe was well-known from "Nash Bridges", too. My biggest problems with this film (and "City of Angels") are its reliance on explicit gore and sexuality, whereas the first film minimized both. If I ever bought "Salvation" on Blu-Ray, it would be purely to form my own HD edit.

    • @DrumdumsMovieReviews

      Dale Midkiff was also in Pet Semetary...and would you believe that I named my son (his middle name) Darion after Midkiff's first name in Time Trax...and I was never really a fan of the show...just like the name haha.

    Wicked Prayer was abysmal. Didn't the kid from Terminator 2 who played the Crow get killed and buried in a refridgerator? Or at least his gf did, I don't remember. Also David Boreanaz was the bad guy(I remember at the time he was teasing starring in a "part 4" of a franchise, and people were thinking he was referring to other movies, like Fantastic Four, and Terminator, and others, lol...he had fun as the bad guy, but it was terribly done, with the four horsemen driving beat up old classic cars....ugh....

    I finally watched this movie today with my mom and I did enjoy it but it does has its flaws tho and I will get into it and Alex Corvis played by Eric Mabius he did a great job as the main lead character in this movie and he was awesome for this role and he did a very good job in this movie and he was badass as this character too and he was also in Resident Evil 2002 film Lee and he plays Matthew Madison in that movie role too and Erin Randall played by Kirsten Dunst she did a great job in this movie and she was awesome for this role and she was so good for this character too and I was surprised she was actually in this movie and she was so good for this role and she is so incredible sexy as hell bro and she is so gorgeous too and I like her as a actress too and Nathan Randall played by William Atherton he did a great job too as well and he was awesome for this role and he did a very good job as this character too and Lauren Randall played by Jodi Lyn O Keefe she did a great job in this movie but she was barley in this film tho and she is kinda of wasted in this movie role but it was nice to see her in this movie tho and she is so incredibly sexy as hell brother and she is so gorgeous too and I like her as a actress now and she was in H20 Halloween twenty years later 1998 film and Stan Roberts played by Walton Goggins he did a great job as a side character villain in this movie and he was awesome in this role and it was nice to see him in this movie too and finally Captain John Books played by Fred Ward he did a great job as the main villain role for this film and he was awesome for this movie and he was badass as this character too and it was nice to see him in this movie too and rip Fred you will always be remembered as a actor and can’t believe it’s been 24 years now since this movie came out now and next year it will be the 25th Anniversary when this movie was released back then and that’s insane it’s been that long now and I was 5 years old when this movie came out and I was in kindergarten at the time and I sure do missed those good old days back then and time sure does flies in the movie world that’s for damn sure Lee brother and overall I’m gonna give The Crow 3 Salvation (2000) a 7.5/10 stars I really did enjoyed this movie for what it was but could of been little bit better if it had some nudity for a change and have the movie be little bit longer too and didn’t not like the ending that much either but that’s just me though in my opinions and thoughts on this movie Drumdums brother bro

    I'm actually kinda the opposite.. Salvation's grown a lot on me and COA's fallen a little. I love both though and they work well as different beasts of sequels; 4's just the joke of the bunch. This one sadly was ruined by Weinstein like it's predecessor was. While that one he ruined the editing and flow of the movie; this one he went out of his way to ruin it's theatrical potential and forced it to DTV. Once From Dusk till Dawn hit Dimension and Weinstein had a lust to send the films he didn't like to the DTV circuit. Hellraiser got forced down, they tried to do it to Halloween but JLC saved it from happening, and it happened to this series. This was actually close to being released theatrically. I heard one source say it was gonna be up in the dead season of Jan/Feb 2000 but I heard another source say July 2000 or something like it but it didn't work out. Weinstein went out of his way to sabotage a test screening to make people believe no one wanted to see it (he made sure little to no advertising was given out and as a result no one knew about the screening and they had 0 turnout. Another reason to hate the guy..) As a result we got screwed in the long run.
    I think if this got a January 2000 release I see it doing quite well honestly. It had Dunust in it who was very popular then and people still loved the franchise then minus the drop in the last one I see it doing well say January 14th weekend it woulda been up against My Dog Skip and Supernova.. not much competition there lol.
    I agree on the leads not having much chemistry.. O'Keefe as a whole wasn't used very much which imo was a mistake as she was a huge name then. The baddies were actually pretty good but they suffer from not being random hooligans like the first two; rather they work in being evil in realism. Ward and Midkiff are both really good. The scene where they kill the rat and his family off is one of the most evil things in the series.. it's up there with Ashe and Danny's death.. ugh. The gore's a little overboard especially the electrocution scenes.. if they had spent that money on the rest of the movie in other places it woulda worked better. The cast was really loaded for a movie of that level: Dunst, Ward, William Atherton, O'Keefe, Midkiff, and Maibus.. it's really something to be impressed by.
    If this one had been left alone it woulda saved the series; sadly it wasn't allowed to happen. BTW how's the blu ray? Is it worth anything? I have the three pack DVD set but I'd love to have these on blu ray. Does it have any special features?

  • @SLiMmcl
    @SLiMmcl 5 лет назад

    I actually disagree. I think the 2nd movie was some Hollywood grab ass film then the 3rd movie was like "Shit we gotta try to be good" But they ruined their faith for a fanbase.
    THEN the last thing I have to say is the "Chemistry" with the dead girl... All the first movie had was scenes of the laughing together. (Yes I think the first crow movie is WAY BETTER OVERALL)
    Chemistry wise (As cringe as it was this is actually the STRONGEST of them all)

    At least they did something different with this one. Instead of remaking the first movie like they did with Wicked Preyer and City of Angels. and the supposed in development hell for now Crow remake. Hollywood sucks fuck the entertainment industry.
    If they wanted to create a crow movie they could be more original like this or take inspiration from any of the novels or comics that don't have Eric Draven in them. Pick another character there are a few female crow characters too. Like seriously r.r originality is dead it's all about nostalgia, money and propaganda...

    Watched this back in HS. I took 3 seperate veiwngs to finish but i did finish it. It was complete shite imo, i remember actually being relieved when they sowed dunst's mouth shut. I will give it a positive that it was better than wicked prayer (at least from what bits i watched before i NOPED myself the hell out of it). Imo city of angels of all the crow movies after the og, is the most OKAY and have actually watched more than once. The rest are st8 up differnet flavors of dog crap.
    The 2024 one was very meh. I know some people are saying its horrible, i mean its not great but it is better than wicked prayer and salvation for me. It took wwwwaaayyyyy to damn long to get going, the villians were forgettable, and the lore changes had me going from wtf to whatever.

    I am so suprised you didn‘t mention amazing talented Jodi Lyn O’keefe ?!? You are Halloween fan ? She was amazing in H20 ! Really dissapointed...

      Drumdums Agree, waste of talent. Jodi was one of the IT girls of late 90’s, shame they didn’t “use” her talent more, because for sure she is talented

    Good concept but the execution wasn’t there. To be the crow, you need to be a good actor and charisma. Lead actor did a good job, but to me, his look wasn’t there. I hated the jacket too. Overall, movie was decent. Nothing amazing

      Yeah, "City of Angels" felt too much like a retread, in several ways. The only scenes I liked were between Ashe and Sarah, or the brief moments with his son.

    • @dani_shogun
      @dani_shogun 8 лет назад +1

      I like Vincent Perez he's one of my fav actors and I met him once in Cannes .. but the truth is city of angels could have become a great movie if there wasn't so much director cut actually I've read texts with several scenes that show us the real story .. the love between ashe and sarah and it was a tragedy that he lost his son and lost sarah too and kept in life , you should check the original movie ,, but instead the producer and director just ruin a beautiful movie I still believe one day they may release the original one .. I like crow , city of angels , salvation but the 4th 👎 ...

      @DrumdumsMovieReviews  8 лет назад +1

      Daniel Oğlu Agreed...Perez is a fantastic actor, and was the best thing about CoA (although I loved Kirshner as well). But the producers messed with the production so much that they completely botched it.

    I like this sequel...it was based on a published novel. What pisses me off is that in the book the lead is a gay man, who’s lover was killed.

    Just tried watching this and damn it was brutal. This definitely is trash. I HATE with a passion the look of the crow character and his acting. It's like a guy in college going to a Halloween party dressed as him in a cheap inexpensive way. If it doesn't have that wicked Hollywood feel I can't stand these straight to video type looking cheesy low budget action movies.They def should have stopped after the second one. Very poorly done couldn't watch more than half hr of it. Only good low budget movies are either comedies or horror for some reason if those. The 4th one omg trailer looked too emberrassing to watch lol. Only good movies poor Edward furlong did was "T2" and the kiss movie "Detroit Rock city".

      I actually don't mind the look, and Eric Mabius does a decent job. But man the production, the villains, the romance cheese. Not good.
