Just wait till you see Peter Capaldi's performance next episode. I can already see Eric's look of awe in my head.
Same that speech is so good
Spoilers! :)
@Lewis Heald I know that.
Jenna-Louise Coleman as a villain is the sexiest thing there is.
also Aaron's maths lmao
And Jenna was already, prior to that point, the sexiest thing there is.
Didn’t want to admit it, but that is true (those inflatable eyes)...
...especially Aaron’s math.
1% or 10%??? hahah
@@jackson857 It would be 0.1%.
Damn just rewatching them reacting to Doctor Who is making me realise how much I miss Murray Gold.
Murray Gold is the best TV show composer I've ever heard.
@@HelenWheelsUtah
Him, Blake Neely, David Russo, and Dominik Scherrer (whose work I've only heard in the _Primeval_ show). Though we should remember that the new music isn't meant to stand out as much, and be more like background ambience.
@@PerovNigma
I should have said he's the best of TV that _I've_ watched, and I don't watch a lot. When properly done, music can be its own character in the show, where it adds so much that it wouldn't be the same story without it, and I think Murray Gold fits that bill. I've watched snippets of shows and movies without the soundtracks and they're just not the same. Music can set a mood, presage an event or even be its own red herring. I've learned to really appreciate all that music can add to a story.
Murray Gold's Doctor Who scores were superb, but I recently bought the soundtrack of S11 and was surprised by how much I like Segun Akinola's music. A very, _very_ different style from Murray Gold, but atmospheric nonetheless.
@@ftumschk Yeah, 13's theme took a while to grow on me but I really like it now. Some of his other stuff is great too. So far Akinola hasn't shown the range of Gold but then he's only worked on 1 series for 1 Doctor .
Time to go watch the speech from the next episode 200 times to prepare
one of the best speech's in history of television
The most overrated speech in Doctor Who.
@@jasonusher3824 yeeeeah sure, such a great speech that I have no idea what you guys are talking about... One of the best speeches in tv history? In those seasons? Plz... feels like half of those scripts are not even finished. Its like someone had an idea but he gave up half way. Imo great doctor but wasted on bad episodes with maaaah writing.
Last two doctors had waaay better speeches thats for sure.
Question is: How badly will calvin cry?
Piro Man kinda seems like you need a chill pill
I have my opinion
Everyone has one
Yours is not the be all end all
Jenna playing Bonnie is the best part about this two part-er! She's so good as a bad guy.
No its not, thats the speech
It's one of the best parts anyway. Not necessarily the only best part the Speech and Bonnie are the best parts.
Just shows what a versatile actor she is, and the fact that she landed that prime role of Queen Victoria immediately on leaving Doctor Who is further evidence of this. Go Jenna!
There are times when Capaldi goes into his deeper, lower register that his voice reminds me of Tom Baker.
The naval surgeon who they mention who developed a gas was Harry Sullivan and he travelled with the 4th doctor and Sarah Jane smith during the early seasons of the 4th doctor
When the Zygons used the Loch Ness Monster to attack... Big Ben. Which everyone forgot. 😉
@@neolex001 "Time is being rewritten all around us...", "wibbly, wobbly, timey wimey...stuff". Honestly the number of times humans of Doctor Who have forgotten major, catastrophic events is beyond absurd. And despite numerous interactions with aliens, early 21st century humans have both largely forgotten, and also not advanced technologically, with the exception of UNIT, who with their Black Archive, may be stunting the race at this point.
Who the Fourth Doctor always called "Idiot". Hence "The Idiot's Formula"
Donald Watson
It’s funny that they kinda retconned that with the TARDIS exploding and certain things being unwritten like the ducks in the Cyberking in old London or the Daleks invading Earth or the ducks in the duck pond.
I’m wondering since the universe was restored by Big Bang 2, was all that stuff still lost?
Also, was Amelia the only one to survive having a time-crack in their wall? I imagine there might have been others with her exposure who might recall things. Or was it time-crack + time traveler that unlocked that ability?
I don’t really complain though because there is a story reason for it. They want the world to resemble ours somewhat. If Earth were rewritten by everything that’s happened in the past 56 years on the show, it might look like an alien world. It might be hard for audiences to relate to the show. It would also be hard to save money by shooting on present day Earth.
@@zemoxian You're on-target regarding reasons. Personally, I think it a brilliant stroke by the Doctor Who showrunners to occasionally insert massive resets and canonical "hand-wave" comments into the series. It sidesteps the potentially devastating problem of fact-checking fans' anger over any detail of time and events being out of place in the Who-niverse. It's the same problem the Star Trek franchise has not handled very well, leading to a lot of long-time fans' anguish. Who fans might try to keep precision-tracking of events, but it's going to eventually fail, except in the broadest of discussions (like a "6th Human Galactic Empire"), because of these added clever buffers. In the end, there's only one chronology that is of any merit in the Who-niverse: the Doctor's.
These two episodes are just terrific and a huge, MASSIVE step-up for writer Peter Harness after the misfire that was 'Kill the Moon'. Great seeing UNIT, Osgood and the Zygons back and the ending of part 2 is truly a killer!
Only really in the sense that it hits some really good highs, but it still suffers from several of the common issues that plague his writing. Like shitty logic devoid of common sense.
Remember the full squad of soldiers who engaged a group of shapeshifters, knowing they're shapeshifters, and then refuse to fire because they look like their loved ones so they totally might be the real ones? Then walk right inside the church full of shapeshifters like morons because "they have something they must show them"?
Or that *other* squad of soldiers that got slaughtered because they just... *didn't use their goddamn weapons* for no reason even though they were literally there specifically to do exactly that? They just stood around like lemmings and let themselves get murdered despite having all the power in the room, because the plot would've died there if the Zygons who were there had died then.
So yeah, it's a step up in the sense that there are some really well done parts like the Doctor's speech and such, but as a writer he's really not improved much at all even compared to Kill The Moon. (Which is the worst Dr Who episode of all time.)
He's an awful writer and I sincerely hope he never touches a Dr Who script ever again.
Kill the Moon is an amazing episode you guys just don't understand shit
Meh for a Muslim immigrant analogy it was 6.5/10 speech included.
@@user-gn1wk5fu1k Okay Buster Brown, if you say so
The best doctor who speech Is coming next episode. Enough said.
will-duncan What about "How many seconds in eternity?"
"Just Be Kind" is better.
Lewis Heald slightly variable writing during his time but capaldi is for sure the best actor doctor who has had
Next week guys ! Next week is the speech !
Anyways... this first part has some pacing issues but is more solid than I remembered (re-checked it a couple days ago). Except the whole detour in New-Mexico that feels more gimmicky than anything else.
anyone else really looking forward to seeing their reactions to the best speech in this shows history.
More like the most overrated speech in the show's history
@@thedoctorgeneric5007 Capaldi is my favorite doctor and that is one of his best moments. Not even close to overrated
Cant wait for Heaven Sent!
Evil Clara is amazing, and somehow more beautiful
IT IS NOT A GAME, SHANE.
IT’S A SCALE MODEL OF WAR!
I rewatched this two parter recently ..it’s good but it could have been stronger ( I like the second part moreso then the first.
You really see the goofy Side of the Doctor in this ..I guess he’s ok with puns now lol.
Always nice to see Kate and Osgood , the inclusion of Unit really lends to the political thriller vibe of these two episodes .
Get ready for one of , if not the best moment of the Twelfth Doctor’s run this far next week!!.
Truth or Consequences was renamed as part of a 10th anniversary celebration of a radio show by the same name, it used to be called Hot Springs. Some people misattribute the renaming to The Matrix, and Morpheus' Red and Blue pill scene.
Zygon Inversion is almost here, guys. We've almost made it!
We've waited so long to see them react to Capaldi's incredible speech, and we're almost there!
Clara is so hot in this episode...
Getting close now... speech next then onwards to the Raven and then the daddy Heaven Sent 🙌🏻
I cannot WAIT to see your reaction to peter's performance in the next episode, it's truly some of the best acting in the entirety of doctor who
11:18 - The comment we were all waiting for
As a fan more familiar with New-Who, this 2 parter and the 50th anniversary really makes the Zygons a good villain/antagonist.
New-Who definitely improved on the Zygons. They still snear, slobber, and snarl but we're seeing a growth in complexity. By the end of next episode, their design will cement the more complex concept that Zygons can be good, evil, or presumably neutral, and are not all a single morality, like so many cultures in Doctor Who are. And with the Osgoods of the 5oth anniversary, we learn Zygons can grow to be willing to sacrifice for the greater good, not just their species. Perhaps one day we'll get a Zygon companion for the Doctor, something I'd had hopes Zygon Osgood would have done.
@@donaldwatson7698 Really great comment! The Zygons can really bring more complexity to the Doctor Who universe.
@@donaldwatson7698 The next episode, you learn that 12 has literally been teaching the Zygons one memeber of their species at a time that they are more than just evil. Because of the events in the 50th, which is really cool.
That mountain in the background is in North Wales.
Yeah. In legend, the throne of the Grey King. He is used in The Dark Is Rising Sequence as one of the Lords of The Dark.
While I realize it wasn't ever really the point of this episode, I still feel like they kinda wasted an opportunity to explore the whole "Fighting a war against shapeshifters" idea a little more. Like Eric pointed out during the episode, we never even see UNIT (or the Zygons either for that matter) attempting to implement any kind of counter-measures against infiltration, like establishing code phrases or passwords.
We never see soldiers becoming paranoid as their squads get infiltrated, or as there's suddenly two copies of their commanding officer and they don't know which is which. Instead, all we get is one INCREDIBLY obvious fucking trap, where the entire squad walks up to a church, and all their family members just conveniently come out of the church like "Oh hey, it's me, your mom, here in this random Eurasian country. Come into this church real quick", and they ALL fall for it and die. It's so incredibly dumb lol.
Obviously, it would be hard to shoot your own mother, even if you knew on a rational level that it wasn't really her. But just because they can't bring themselves to shoot their loved ones that doesn't mean they should all just walk into the church to get slaughtered like idiots. Why not just take one of "family members" hostage for interrogation, since the rest couldn't resist without giving away their cover? Or just shoot them in the leg or something, like Shane said. Have each soldier shoot someone *else's* relative if they can't shoot their own, it really shouldn't be so hard.
Wolf6120 completely agree like this is a cool concept but part 1 feels underwhelming. I love the resolution but they really lost a lot of opportunities
What they had was good enough but your idea would have made it a lot better
Ya the writing was not the best when it came to story and other things the last few seasons. But despite that capaldi was still a fantastic doctor. By fav dr is tied between eckleson, Tennant, smith, and capaldi
Malcolm Tucker and Nicola Murray working together.
@Random Scottish Bloke I saw... You are right.
"Yeah, I'm getting f*cking tinnitus here!"
I'm surprised none of them mentioned Ozgood being killed in the last season's finale.
Im glad they mentioned Harry Sullivan in that episode but I really don't like how they somewhat paint him in this. I liked it more in Sarah Jane Adventures when Sarah talks about how he saved millions of lives rather than destroyed.
I only know of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico because it's where Cactus Jack is billed from
FINALLY, they are here. I have been WAITING for them to get to this season of Capaldi, just for the second part of this 2-parter. *HYPE*
I'm so excited for next week !

so so so excited for next weeks speech
I can't wait to see the reaction of the Zygon Inversion Speech 🙌🏼 One of the best speeches of the 12th Doctor/ one of the best speeches ever 💫
Omg the next episode is the best! They are not prepared!!!
Truth and Consequences, New Mexico is an hour north from where I live, and it looks nothing like it’s portrayed in this episode. For one it’s in the desert, and two, it’s missing a lake near by it. Oh yeah, and the state flag badges they are wearing on their uniforms doesn’t remotely resemble the state flag. They made it look like the Mexican flag without the eagle in the center, much more like the Italian flag 🇮🇹 just because the town is located in New Mexico. I just wished Doctor Who would do a better job when it came to researching all of this.
Oh and I noticed the film set of the town of Truth and Consequences, is actually the same set they used for the town named Christmas in Matt Smith’s final episode as the 11th Doctor in Time of the Doctor.
Something about this two-parter reminds me of Torchwood and I've yet to figure out what it is exactly.
Oh god I need to emotionally prepare myself for the next episode
I don't envy their editor for next week. They're gonna be in awe for Capaldi's entire performance.
YES YES YES this season is really so freaking good
Am really excited to see the guys react to part two of this story for obvious reasons ( to everyone who's already seen it).
"Maybe Clara's the Vice President..."
"The Vice President just hunts..."
"That was a reference to Dick Cheney..."
"Dick Cheney doesn't have a heartbeat..."
:-0
They're getting too near the truth!
"Thank you for using that properly!"
Quote of the video.
“These fuckers just signed there death warrants” I think only three zygons habe died and the Doctor manage to save the day without killing. He’s the best
nooooooo i caught up! i was hoping you'd see everything up till the end of the newest episode.
oh well
love these reactions
Ooooo...one of the all-time great Who speeches is a-comin'!
The U.S. Government would have a field day with this.
You boys are getting close to Heaven Sent. Can't wait to see your reaction to this one.
The sign "No British No Dogs" at 5:55 is a reference to a piece of British racism - i.e. signs reading "No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs"
See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Irish_sentiment#"No_Irish_need_apply"
Next episode lads!! It's almost time
In New Mexico, we just call it T or C lol
Osgood is the cutest!
I’d have loved to have seen Missy pop up here. I wonder what a Miss Zygon story would be like.
Are you sure we didn't see one already? There used to be two Osgoods, after all.
@5:57 : After the British invaded India they used to place same signs outside except, those signs said, "No Indians, no dogs".....
And here comes the greatest speech The Doctor ever gave.
Edit: The second greatest obviously being Akhetan.
Wait, which one? Because Rings of Akhetan and everything Ten ever uttered say hi.
i think it's one of the best speech's in history of television
@@jasonusher3824 I'll take your word for it. This two-parter was utterly forgettable by me.

OH YES THE SPEECH IS COMMING!
I’m so excited for next week
Whats it say about me that the video started and my brain was just like IRNBRU!!!
Blind Wave, Arizona!
Wait. Is Calvin drinking Irn Bru??? Good choice!
First noticed it a few months back. I actually thought it was illegal in the US because one of the additives was banned but as it turns out, that may be Canada. Lad's got good taste.
@@anonymes2884 I hadn't heard anything about it being banned in the US. I believe Cadbury's chocolate is banned in the US because Hershey's has the license to manufacture in the US using the Cadbury's brand, and they objected to import stores importing the real stuff. I'll make no comment on Hershey's "chocolate" or their fake Cadbury's......
Next week we get their reaction to the best moment in all of doctor who
Some people would pay good money for that kind of catharsis
great reaction can't wait or the next ep like WOW 5 rounds ;)
Great Two Parter, i like the Zygons
How many seconds in eternity?
The shepherd's boy says, "There's this mountain of pure diamond. It takes an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it, and every hundred years a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain."
You where once a Zgone but now you will be gone.
12:04 poor *Calvin.* To be so upset if people use the current and most widely accepted use of a word ─ it's almost like he's never been allowed to go outside.
As *Eric* notes, this is how language works. This is how it has always worked. I imagine he would be making that very argument if he was called out for utilizing a word in a similar fashion.
Much to my chagrin, the word _irregardless_ now has an accepted definition: _regardless._ I expect we are going to start seeing the word _exscape_ in the dictionary as well. That is, if it hasn't happened already. 🤔
Truth or Consequences, New Mexico is actually a real place 😂 Learn something new everyday I guess
Calvin really called them Zygots?
So excited for tomorrow 🙂
Can’t wait for the next one. Capaldi’s defining moment as the Doctor and the best speech in the history of the show
Capaldi's best 2 episodes
The next doctor regeneration should be Jackie Chan that would be awesome
And funny
Shane mentions how his dad is terrible like a lot in passing and it's kinda super fucking awkward cause he tries to joke about it but he clearly has some serious hang ups and it sounds like his dad really isn't a good person
Pause at 13:41
Sarah-Jane Adventures reaction?
Sooo... Lowell = Shelbyville?
What if the War Doctor comes out? lol
IRN BRUUUUUUUUUUU
next episode -- the greatest Doctor speech ever.
Please show the entire speech when you all react to the next episode. That scene is so powerful and incredible, to cut it up would detract from it's impact.
Dear lord I can't wait for next episode. The speech is coming!
We need two doc who episodes per week since they're all two parters
😊
If there's one thing I don't like about this two parter, it's how Clara fires the Missile Launcher at the end. It just doesn't look right.
I don't think it's supposed to be right, based on events revealed in the second episode....but it's entirely possible I don't understand what you mean by this.
@@eclecticdog2k901 The way she jerks the launcher to the side after firing it, I don't think that's how a launcher's recoil would work.
😂😂😂❤
This two parter is convoluted and boring above anything else
