Again, this was a great project, and a great refresher for reverse applique, if you have any talent you will be inspired if you complain, you need to watch again, as you have no ideas of your own. If you had you would appreciate the generousity of these people to make this great video for free. Thanks I loved it.
I have to say I love Missouri Quilt, they have great projects, clear and easy to understand. Thanks so much for all you do. And your guest was great. Thanks Vanessa.. If someone didn't like this video, they should do there own. Then we can criticize them. This video was great as always.
I love all of MSQC's videos. I wish I lived close enough to the shop just to be able to come by each day to say hello to Jenny. She is a dear! She should have her own Quilt Show!!!
How doggone cute is that idea for the pillow? What a quick and easy way to make a pillow for almost any holiday! Thanks Vanessa! And Thanks MSQC Too! I think if someone found the edges a bit too casual, I think they could do a zig-zag stitch around the heart to finish it so the edges would not show. And even use a fancy stitch or ....even rickrack. Great ideas! Thanks! Now my creative juices are flowing- what about different fabrics for the pleats? Ohhhhh, excuse me, I am going to go sew!
I can also make a 3 leaf clover for st pattys day, easter egg for easter, christmas ornament for christmas and so on. What a wonderful easy project to look forward to. Thank you Jenny and Vanessa.
This is sew adoreable. I took Vanessa's Craftsy class too and I love her techniques. It adds a lot of details to otherwise plain fabrics! Just wonderful
just learned from this video that the frixion pens are heat erasable. Awesome!!!! Living in Japan where those pens are my daily tool for work (think about teaching English where writing your own language can sometimes get confusing...). I am a happy woman today!!!!
what a neat tutorial. I can see this being done with flannel, and with the raggy edges... and it would be sooooo soft and so cuddly... and it can be done in so many shapes... the possibilities are endless. Thank you so much for a cool tutorial.
Jenny, another great video! I love how you encourage people to try something new and change things to suit their tastes. Isn't that the point of a tutorial? It was so great to come to one of my favorite channels and see another of my favorites, Vanessa! Thanks ladies!!!
I am a new sewer and quilter and made this pillow. Love it. Thank you so much for something even we beginners can make and it look pretty. Now, have 2 friends wanting to make one. Guess I should tell you I marked top and bottom, and then proceeded to sew it upside down - oops - still looks great! Marilyn Trent - McKinney, TX
This is very cute! Gives me an idea for my GD for Christmas. A few throw pillows for her bed. I have been enjoying your tutorials for the past few weeks. So many ideas, and so much inspiration. Thank you, and keep it up! I am hungry for your videos! -Alice
@marialovesvictor I don't think it looks bad at all. Have you ever seen a rag quilt? Oh and by the way, this tutorial was designed by V and Co so you should really be directing your complaint to her, not that I think there's even a reason to complain at all. It's ADORABLE!!!
@marialovesvictor of for goodness sakes Maria... life's too short!! What i loves best about MSQC is it's ability to let people see it's ok to just have fun and not worry right/wrong, perfect or according to rules... it's all about creativity!!
@marialovesvictor Really!? I loved the raw edge, the pleats are so formal, I think the raw edge gives it a fun feel. I guess we have different tastes for sure when it comes to hearts and pillows :)
I just love this tutorial, im thinking about redoing my sons room.He wants a music theme, i think i can use this idea and just change the heart to a musical note. thanks for the inspiration :)
During Valentines season... I save the candy boxes that are heart shaped, I buy the small ones for the kids and one extra for me.... I take the box apart and have the heavy box template for my hearts all year long
I think it is great,it gives you idea's to make things. Well done msqc, can't believe anyone would moan about it, If you wanted to you could applique round the raw edge of the heart.
@marialovesvictor That was quite rude of you. MSQC do a lot of demos. Not all of them are to everyones taste as different people like different things. So if you didnt like the cushion then thats fine but no need to be scathing about it. A lot of others will have enjoyed the tutorial, as did i, and appreciate the time and effort gone into making it. :)
@marialovesvictor As someone already said, it is a free tutorial, it's not like you paid for it! Though I do understand what you're saying about the raw edge, normally with reverse applique (or at least when I do it) you can sew along the edge in zig-zag stitch to cover up the raw edge. That should neaten it up for you :)
love it, love the people. I will sew around heart, might fray when washed. I also thoughtof putting a little stuffing inside heart, yet not a good idea if it bunches iside. forget that idea. I started a pin cushion to pratice and love it , there's a gift for Chr;ist;mas baskets I make up/ I have idea's galore, will start on a skirt for american girl doll skirt. Oh look at what you started ?Have to knit too!!!!!!
The pleating is an awesome treatment - nice way to jazz up a simple pillow, but I wasn't fond of the cut edge showing on the outside. I would probably go over that cut edge with a blanket stitch or a multistitch zig-zag after I cut out the shape. I wouldn't go so far as MLV below - the finished pillow's cut edge was cut well - it's just not a look I appreciate. Everyone has their own idea of how something should look. Variety - it's what makes the world go 'round!
If you are concerned about the raw edges, couldn't you put it in the wash and make the edges fringe or fuzz up to frame the heart? You could even cut it away from the edge more than a quarter of an inch, clip it, and then throw it in the washing machine. I like this technique. Thanks for the video!
@marialovesvictor If you want to learn a lot of fancy techniques you should go to England to the School of Needlepoint. You should know how to embellish and grow with this, and to give compliments to others efforts. What have you created and shared. I think this was great for her to share and for the amount of time came out fantastic. If you want a 3 day class in pillow making first create some cash, there are lots of us that will be glad to teach you advanced techniques; call Martha Pullen.
I expected better from your msqc. It was poorly made, the unfinished edge looks like a child did it. I thought it would be a different take on Madeira or something like that. I don't intend to be mean, i imagine you are interested in your subscribers opinion.

Thank you for the tutorial. I made one but put a nice lacey trim around the edge of the heart and it looks darling!
I LOVE the pleats! Too cute.
I bought her book and it has so many amazing ideas... she has so many great creations!
Cute and quick idea! Love all your videos!
I think I would cut closer to the stitching and then satin stitch over the raw edges. Thanks for nice idea.
Such a great project to do with my granddaughter!
I love it that's what you call a Good thing .
This is very cute! Gives me an idea for my GD for Christmas. A few throw pillows for her bed. I have been enjoying your tutorials for the past few weeks. So many ideas, and so much inspiration.

Hi Vanessa,
So cute !
Very pretty project.
like this. Its so pretty.
will the cutout not fray? I guess I would use a applique stitch around the heart
Applique scissors are very useful for projects like this.
Sew cute!❤️
Another AMAZING video, MQC! Wheels spinning, but I'm thinking a possible T-shirt is in my future with this techinque!
I think it is great,it gives you idea's to make things. Well done msqc, can't believe anyone would moan about it, If you wanted to you could applique round the raw edge of the heart.
I'm making it. Thanks!!!!
Funny pillow. Thank u.
Love this..also the quilt in the background. Are the pretty applique pieces on the quilt of lace or wool? It is gorgeous.
I like reverse applique
Great idea! 😊👍

@crystalldrose and now that they have frixion markers, I am in happy land!!!
I'm not sure what she used, we went and visited her in her house, so that was a quilt she had hanging. I don't remember what the pieces were, sorry!
Beautiful..but I must say no one can beat applique work by artisans of place in India called Barmer in Rajasthan...👍

Reverse appliqué tutorial
I would tend to use a satin stitch or at least a small zig zag other wise your fabric is going to fray! Great project though
I missed your sense of humor Jenny!
I like vanessa's. Crafy gemini show
