Here at Joes everything is fresh. 100% U.S.D.A., federally selected choice beef chuck is specially selected. Our burgers are always tasty and juicy, slowly cooked medium-rare unless you specify otherwise. We ask a lot of questions that help us to fully satisfy your stay at Joes. Please order your ground steak burger the way you would like your steak cooked.
I've lived in nearby Glen Park for 50 years and have been to Joe's many times. The best burger I have ever had anywhere. Sorry to see Joe retire and close the place. I also know Joe's nephew very well. He's a young engineer and I worked with him back in the 1990's. Fine young man.
I heard it closed because joe passed away, this is my kinda place, where owners cared about the quality of their product, i guess i am old school, because these are the kinda places i prefer to visit and patronize, not many around anymore
Steve Logan and that’s a shame. Supply and demand, people no longer demand the caring quality of years gone by. RIP Joe.
Idk if hes gone now but he retired. Dident die
If old school means quality than im old af
What there now, if you have any info.
To see the state of San Francisco and how the liberals have ruined that City. Makes me sad .
I miss this place so much. Just watching this video made my mouth water remembering what it was like to bite into one of Joe’s burgers. I feel blessed having been able to sit in his restaurant being surrounded by all the lights and have met him.
You can see the pride in Joe's eye's. God Bless.
Couldn’t have said it better.
God bless 🙏 you Brian Gleason for saying that about Joe cable guy
You get what you pay for. Yes, the place was pricey, but... God bless Joe!
Oen of the best Chefs in the country....
I heard the place is completely abandoned. Makes me sad to know a great burge place like this shut down. Great childhood memories here!
Damn my parents used to take me here if I brought back a good report card. You're missed Joe
Is it closed?? 😢😢😢
ate there when i was 17 with my dad, food was great sorry it closed
San Francisco born and raised in the Excelsior District 10 blocks away from Joe's and hands down the best burger in SF. Expensive but well worth it and locals know Joe's isn't a place you run into to just grab a quick $2 burger. It's a place you go to when you want to go sit down and treat yourself to one of the best burgers you've ever had.
My favorite.. An 8 ounce medium rare bacon mushroom swiss cheese burger with an order of half and half fries and onion rings and a banana/chocolate milkshake. So good.. I'd make that my last meal type good. Period
Matthew Kamelamela so how far is the mission district from their? You ever been to tommy joynt?
I heard that woulda costed you $30 20 years ago lol ridiculous
Ha, been there, ate that, remember the flavor! There are good burgers everywhere, BUT, (shhh) this place serves the best in S.F.!
This was the best burger I've ever had. I'm so sad I'll never be able to have it again 😢.
Rip Joe's cable car
This place was a joke. Tasteless burgers and fries at ridiculously high prices. Been closed for years now. Best thing Joe was good at was marketing. Don't believe everything you see on these food shows
March 16th, 2014 Joe's Cable Car Restaurant is officially closed.
The building is still fenced off and boarded up as of June 2018. No replacement building yet.
artytoons you would hope someone would open up a new joint but the economy is in the shitter there....as well as the streets
Going to be one of the last to enjoy this memorable place tonight I will miss you Joe!
Its gone??
Thanks for the upload man this is definitely one of my favorite shows I love ddd
RIP Joes Cable Car, lots of good memories.
Has it closed?
@@Panwere36 Yep. Joe retired and shut the place down back in Spring of 2014.
@@diegomeredith-marquez929 , sad.. but I am glad so many got to enjoy it for as long as they were able.
Diego Meredith-Marquez Diego nobody wanted to buy that prime location on Mission St? I would’ve thought it had some serious value. I only ate there three times over the years when in town but hands down the best steak burger I’ve ever eaten
@@Panwere36 Yup they shut the place down after Joe got caught running an oral pyramid scheme behind the place.
The owner of that restaurant sounds like the guy from the radiomercial that always says, "Your house can be covered in potato chips and we wouldn't even crack one."
Real Frisco shit. My pops loved that spot. RIP Dad..
I live in the the bay area! I gotta try this shit out!
Its closed and fenced off. Building looks like shit now but go ahead you can see it if you want.
This SF doesn't exist anymore.
Those are REAL steak burgers
RIP Joe's Cable Burger :(
Bless me Joe lol
C'mon fieri, don't blaspheme the blessing of food, i just realized that, there are folks starving all around the world.
I cannot believe somebody did not buy this place and do not change a thing please, very successful as is, taste like beef, if mcdonald's could get the flavor of grease into soybeans, people would eat soy burgers, lol, not me, but the flavor comes from grease and not their beef.
@Brisdad53 ty for the info friend, hate to lose places like that
i juss got word that hes going to be closing down soon. sucks man i fuckin lbeen coming here for years
Joe was not dead when the place closed, but his health was giving way and he was told by his doctors he had to cut out all the good work he was doing. Friend of mine whose relative worked there said everybody was given two weeks pay and he notified them in plenty of time so they all have a chance to find jobs. What surprised me is given the reputation of the place nobody tried to buy it and keep it going.
It wasn’t that. When it closed KTVU interviewed Joe and he said he feared someone would tarnish the name of something he loved so much and worked so hard to build and so he opted to close it. That in itself should tell you just how much he cared about the quality of his product.
Going to SF in June, will definitely stop there. I'm from the South East coast, if anyone has any other recommendations where to eat, I would appreciate it.
yo joe im ready to FLIP when you are.lol
I wish someone would buy the place with the promise to Joe that nothing will change.
GOOD RIDENS overpriced and not that good so happy its closed ,he was a greedy man knew him for 50 years rip rink a tink
California Love liar!
@ California loving what an appalling show of respect to this great man you should be ashamed
Good job
I just looked it up and now closed for good😔😔 i wanted to go get a patty melt😔
David Reedy --- yes sadly Joe passed away in 2015
0:46 shit straight up charred
RIP in peace bro
God bless you man
Joe's Cable Car on Mission and Silver doesn't exist anymore,it shut down around 10 years ago.
He said after u cook it it has 8 percent fat. Duhhhhhhhhhh it's cooked off so. Sounds like a politician
2,000 burgers a week at, let's say, an average of $15 each - that mean's they were making $120,000 worth of burgers a month. How did this place close???
Man I wish I could go here and try their delicious burgers 🍔 😋
Remember those corner Bodegas???? I grew upstairs from 1.... Dom's I actually remember those days..... Best pizza I ever ate, I could spend a quarter and fill up a paper bag full of candy..... I know, everyone thinks I'm old... I think I'm old enough.......
This place doesn't come up in yelp anyone know why?
Kool Burn Joe Retired. So it closed
what a treasure huh?
Name" Sonny, You all Rock.!!!!!
He didn’t die, he retired
He retired then died.
Man those burgers look good!!!
Long live the American Dream
It's so Sad....Joe's is closed down now
Lol don’t retire buddy! I did and I’m bored out of my skull drinking beer and getting a belly. Staring at my phone.
I hate the term "it melts in your mouth." Meat doesn't do that like ever and I have had a5. Such a dumb saying
When the beef is fresh & never frozen, i like the burger medium rare, frozen & thawed out changes the texture, not nearly as good, joe said after cooked it was 6-8 % fat to beef, that is not what he started with, fat renders out & it might have started about 80/20 give or take, Guy Fieri should know that unless he thought it was cut with 6-8% fat & not cooked starting with 6-8 % fat, maybe Guy misunderstood or misheard Joe
march 17th 2014 is the official date....sigh im gonna eat there every day until then haha
Right down the street from I grew up, so many memories. Wish I got to eat there more often. Instead, just the few lucky times over my young years of having enough money saved up to have then occasional burger from Joes will live forever in my memories 😔….
This is the first time I've seen Guy wearing gloves. Sending to Ripley's
MIS YOU JOE
Sorry to say but it's gone
I am gonne eat there!!!!!! Twice! OMG
Just read he retired March 2014 & closed the business. Sad
RIP Joes!!!! # excelsior
RIP Kind Soul! 🙏
Neon a rama indeed.
“I know what the burger is made of..” no way?! What is it? A horse? A turkey? Certainly not made of cow.
He means he knows there isn't any filler in the burger.
Seriously one of the best burgers I've ever had. Went there a few times. Still remember the taste.
Did Joe pass away? I just saw this video for the first time. The man loved his work making people happy.
i am not sure if he passed away, i have seen a couple comments saying he did, and an article i read said his health was declining. but i am sure the restaurant is definitely permanently closed. the building even stayed up for years with fencing around it (not sure what it currently looks like now or if they have finally replaced it with something else)
here is an article about it closing: insidescoopsf.sfgate.com/blog/2014/01/31/interview-joe-obegi-of-joes-cable-car-on-the-restaurants-looming-closure-burgers-and-a-changing-san-francisco/amp/
I'm sure he went out of business because no one wanted to pay 20$ a burger. Prices were ridiculous when I went. Spent 90$ for 4 burgers and 1 fry
Definitely was expensive for back then. Now burger and fries for 20$ is standard outside of the fast food joints.
This man was truly loved. The comments on here show
Can’t go wrong with bacon and 🥩 beef can you.... amazing Joe’s
Cool place but if u know how to trim a steak u can save $20
I think the homeless sleep there now
Can I order a rare burger.
@5:24 dr. lee ?
Sun Burned Guy
I HOPE GORDON RAMSAY DOES NOT BUY IT
Love it!!!
I HIGHLY recommend people 2 go 2 Joe's Cable Car if they're in San Francisco. I was there last week on vacation. Their burgers will blow your mind!
WhaddayahGannaDeW???
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯
RIP joe
What a load of crap. If you can't remember the Herby Burpy and how little it cost, then you're a bleach blonde San Franciscan...
Hint: it was huge
Why did it have to close
+Andros Pahlavan Joe was 75 and tired, sailed off to retirement. Thanks for all years Joe.
I remember going there when I was very young, Best burger ever! Hope Joe is driving through retirement with his Ferrari!
+ray Gordon At least he didn't die; I was worried that might have happened.
@@raygordon3728 fuck joe
optimistically cynical . Got fired for stealing huh?
Go
i never ate there!,. i would always pass by .. but why does it look like its closed hmmm... or if no one goes there
@BERTO929 try Ike's in the Castro, best sandwiches in the city
For $11
My God thats Yummy,....
Soundwaverzs hhh hy
@joescablecar umm..SF the most beautiful? Way off dude....just to compete on the west coast try Vancouver BC or Seattle. As far as burgers go..steak or not...GO TO THE LUNCH BOX LABORTORY in Seattle...just as good without the waste of electricity on all the neon lights.
Thats the problem with america. They are at work so much its like its replaced your home. Very sad
Haven't been to a palce yet hevreccomends thatvwas worth a damned.
which ones have u been to?
I been there. The food is,really good but I think it was 17 bucks a burger. For that price id rather go to in n out. The burgers are unique with good meat but not worth 17 a burger
He had a heart attack....in 2015 he's dead
samuel moreno where did u hear this??
@@virg0_lem0nade captain jack cooking with the blues... and the asshole guy fierty
Closed! Last time I was here my meal; burger, fries, shake was $30! good riddance.
Thomas Chung you chose to pay douchebag
You pay for good food you want a cheap burger go to McDonald's
we had a place out here fresh burgers, very very expensive.. they closed 3 months after opening
Thats ridiculous, I wouldve left and not ordered.
Thomas Chung you really shouldn’t go out to eat or maybe demand more welfare...
Guy Ritchie=no talent.
ummmm did you mean to say Guy Fieri 😂😂😂😂 because Guy Ritchie has nothing to do with this video at all LOL
🩵♥️🌈great is my uncle
