Being a drum guy....drums are my thing.(I'm nearly 55)..and Akane Hirose (the drummer here) has become my No.1 drummer EVER! ..man or woman....I love her style, her creativity, her power, her grace behind a kit..And all done with a beautiful smile!....She rocks my world!
Same here mate. I find listening to Akane is a never ending journey of “that was cool, that was awesome, I wished I’d thought of that” etc.
Nice! Akane and Senri Kawaguchi are my faves, too!
@@TomClark-Futoura Senri is just incredible!
Thanks Bodney! Nice to hear from a fellow musician!
@@bobcieslinski Haha!..I wouldn't say I was a musician...I did play for a while..including gigging...But I was never that talented....But I know Akane is...She's amazing behind her kit....and she makes it look so effortless...And the smile....warms the heart.🥰
The Maids are one of the best live bands I've ever heard, and their crowd interaction is adorable, from Misa's opening ceremony to Miku's Magic Spell time to Kanami & Saiki teaching Japanese and all the little interactions in between. I have crazy respect & much love for these Lady's !! ❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘 OH, snap, I forgot about Akane. The Gorilla loves her Bananas. 😉😏
Thanks for the info Lonnie!
Fun concert? Hell, yeah. I saw them on their U.S. tour last fall. Second best concert I've ever been to. Keep reacting to them. As many will tell you, they don't have even any mediocre songs. You have more than 100 to choose from.
Thanks for the info Killermonjero! I will be reacting and analysing more of their music. They are so good!
The maids will be doing their 10th anniversary US tour in May 2023 (Tickets on sale from Feb 17) :
Sun May 14 - Houston, TX - Bayou Music Center
Mon May 15 - Austin, TX - Emo’s
Thu May 18 - Daytona, FL - Welcome to Rockville Festival*
Fri May 19 - Atlanta, GA - Buckhead Theater
Sun May 21 - Nashville, TN - Brooklyn Bowl
Mon May 22 - Charlotte, NC - The Underground
Wed May 24 - Detroit. MI - St Andrews Hall
Fri May 26 - Columbus, OH - Sonic Temple Festival*
Sat May 27 - St. Louis, MO - Point Fest Radio Show*
I truly believe Akane is one of the best drummers in the world right now. Also they've stepped up the game quite a bit from this song as it's several years old now. "From Now on" is an instrumental that they just released if you're interested.
Thanks Roy! I'll check that one out.
The increase in their skills from this concert (Feb. 2021 - the last live concert before the lock down) to "From Now On" is incredible, they all have upped their game and they have been practicing very hard over the pandemic. Akane, drummer, has increased her speed, Miku, backing vocals/rhythm is now as good as any other rhythm player out there.
She and Tamu Murata from Nemophila are both outstanding rock drummers for sure!
Ooooooh, don’t forget the drummer from SOKONINARU (supurb Japanese band). Saito, he is outstanding, also sings backing vocals whilst he’s drumming like a rockstar
She’s my favorite drummer currently playing. Neil Peart, from Rush is my all time favorite.
I love Band-Maid. Never heard a bad song by them. You can’t go wrong with anything.
TRIVIA: Akane had never played a double pedal, until Kanami suggested she try it.
Why haven't they got that piece of interesting trivia as a music Q in Trivial Pursuit, that's what i want to know.
"Domination" is the most requested B-M song for reactors & it's easy to see why. Add to that the Maids never ending catalogue of awesome songs & you're onto a winner.😁👍
Yes, most requested, a must have for any set list, studio track is fantastic and yet isn’t even a top 25 B-M studio track imho. How a single band can be so talented is simply crazy.
@@Parker-- Your absolutely right, Parker. "Domination" studio is good but the Shibuya live version elevates it above greatness :)
I always request Dice official.
Amen, brother!
If there is one song that encapsulates what Band-Maid is about, the live version If Domination is it. It's the song I typically recommend when I want to introduce someone to the band.
My advice to you is to get used to having your mind blown because, although Domination Live is one of their most EPIC performances, BAND-MAID will NEVER stop surprising you!
Thanks again!🤘🤩🤘
Thanks Dan! I'm exciting to dig into their catalogue of songs. Can't wait for the next one!
@@bobcieslinski try Play (Live), best song intro......EVER!! Prove me wrong!🤘😁🤘
Yep! 😂
Agree All Hail the Maid's🤠❤️❤️🌸🎸🎸🎸🎤🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍗🍗🍗🍜🍜🥁🌸
As stated the sound you hear at the beginning is the last notes of the previous song "Play". There is also a live MV of "Play" it is a good next step. You will love it! Just think, they play like this for 2 hours +! Currently celebrating their 10th year (with no line up changes) their back catalogue is immense, and there isn't one dud track or filler. Even their so called b-sides are ground breaking and jaw dropping!
Thanks Davey!
Band-Maid have invigorated Hard Rock in many ways. I have never ever seen and listened to a band that complete: stellar songbook, unparalleled musicianship and wonderful stage appearances. Some ten years ago they set sail with the steely determination to become a band that should make a difference - and that's exactly what happened. Shine on, ladies!
Great thoughts here Theo. Thanks!
I love when people comment on the singing. Their song writing is so oriened to the full band that when you losten to their song as instrumentals or their normal songs it almost feels like a whole new song. Her vocal melodies transform the songs
They really do.
The maidiacs will never thank Miku enough for creating this group of very talented musicians (sisters). Miku who was not a musician at first, became a good rhythm guitarist. Freedom Live to see Akane in a superb solo. French fan . PO !
Another great reaction to these ladies! Just a few things to point out, this was I believe this is the 21st song out of a 23 song set list, just shows they amount of energy they have throughout. When you saw all the Misa, Miku and Kanami (the guitarists) all crowd around the drummer Akane, they are trying to throw her off by making funny faces at her.|
If you think they are amazing here, you should check out their instrumentals. Really shine. In particular From now on. But if you want to hear a solo that really tugs at the heart strings, check out Daydreaming. It's a ballad, and if I recall correctly, Kanami said it's one of her favorite solos.
Thanks Matthew! Great info! Funny they are making the faces.
They just announced dates for their 10th Anniversary Tour in the US in May. They are also doing a few festivals this year. Maybe one of the dates is by you. Seen them 3 times. They are my favorite band since discovering them in 2019
Hey Alex! I looked it up since someone mentioned it already it I'm disappointed they won't be closer to me. I might have to travel to see them, but it would be worth it.
@@bobcieslinski They announced the first set of dates. They will be adding more US dates in August. Keep an eye out!
@@Davey-Boyd thanks!
Regardless of your taste in particular styles or genres, the level of pure musicianship in Japan right now is totally off the charts.
After Kanami finishes her last blazing solo, Saiki sings, "Our pulses race together." Indeed! Band-Maid. Domination. Nuff said! Thx, Bob!
Thanks Tom! These ladies are so good.
The fun of them performing live is infectious. Always leaves me with a smile..
Saiki Atsumi - lead vocalist
Miku Kobato - rhythm guitar 🎸 backing vocals (sometimes lead vocals) primary lyricist and founder of Band Maid
Kanami Tono - lead guitarist 🎸 piano, primary composer and arranger
Akane Hirose - drums 🥁 (Jimmy Page called her one of the best drummers he's ever seen)
Misa!!!! - bass. One of the best bassists around today bar none!!!!
These are the awesome ladies of Band Maid!!!!! They finished their sold out US TOUR November 1st, 2922. They are in the US right now opening for the Last Rock Stars and are scheduled to play several festivals in the US in May and we Maidiacs are hoping for more solo shows from them as this year is their 10th anniversary as a band!!!
Hey Gordon! Thanks for the info! I'm gonna have to travel if I want to see them. I checked out the tour and it's not close. 😰
@bobcieslinski just remember they are going to add more US tour dates for August so they may end up closer to you. BTW I flew to Chicago for the last show of their tour in November and I flew from Alaska
@@bobcieslinski Great review. Just to add to what Gordon wrote about Akane the drummer. Jimmy Page saw then in a concert when he was in Japan and was so impressed with Akane's drumming that he asked to meet her backstage. Akane thought she was being pranked but there is a photo of them together. I think you know why this is one of the best endorsements Akane could get. And how can she do all this with that big smile on her face when many other drummers look like they are having a real workout?
@@fedogma8407 yep that is a pretty big endorsement.
Thanks Bob. Great reaction. I love every square inch of this band and I can't get a favorite member.
Today I want to highlight Saiki, the main vocalist, I think her spectrum of sound projection is from another planet but I want to point out that she has an elasticity, dynamics and a lively sound tension (it goes up and down, she accelerates and slows down) that I can compare with a movement similar than the flight of a conductor's baton. Fascinating. This band is a miracle and, as many Maidiacs will say, you haven't seen anything yet...and they are right !
Hey Javier! Thanks for the kind words! Man everyone keeps telling me there is so much more and I haven't seen anything yet. It gets me pretty excited because from what I heard so far these ladies are incredible. Take care man!
Don't worry Bob, it took me about 2 weeks to learn them.
Saiki Atsumi: lead vocalist (aka The Queen)
Miku Kobato: Second Guitarist and vocalist (aka The small Pigeon...the boss)
Kanami Tono: Lead Guitarist (aka Mincho)
Misa: Bassist (aka the Barefoot Assassin)
Akane Hirose: Drums (aka Gorilla)
They will be at 3 festivals in the US in May: Rocville May 18 in Daytona Beach Florida, Sonic Temple May 26 in Columbus OH and Poin Fest on May 27 in St. Louis.
Regards.
Hey Carlos! Thanks for the info on the concert dates too! Columbus is probably the closest for me. I'll have to check into that one.

If you want to challenge your musical brain even more, check out “Black Hole”! It’s a masterpiece! So experimental, yet all the pieces come together perfectly! 😮❤
Thanks it’s on the list now.
Yes! Black Hole is a fantastic song.
Probably my favorite song by these beauties is Blooming. The mv to that song is awesome, but Kanami, The Riff Goddess, goes full on guitar hero on that track. Just a shredfest of a solo.
They sure can rock Paul.
Love your reaction, and as others have said, get used to having your mind blown with these amazing women. You're not the only one to be astounded by drummer Akane Hirose's amazing talent and chops (all delivered with one of the biggest smiles in rock), a certain British guintarist by the name of Jimmy Page made it a point to tell her so in person after he saw a B-M concert :) The band members are: Miku Kobato (red rose) rhthym guistar, vocals. She founded the band and writes most of the lyrics. Miku first found Kanami Tono, lead guitar. Kanami writes and arranages most of their songs. Kanami knew drummer Akane Hirose, and Akane went to music school with Misa the bass player. The more B-M you hear the more you are going to realize how unique and special Misa is. And as frontwoman on lead vocals, we have Saiki (Sigh-kee) Atsumi, the last to join the group when Miku realized they needed a more powerful singer to handle the lead. Saiki just celebrated her 29th birthday two days ago. The Maids are actually in the U.S. right now and are opening for The Last Rockstars in L.A. tonight (2/10/23) at the Palladium. BUt they are also definitely coming back to the U.S. again this year, and will be playing at three rock festivals in May in FL, OH and MO, and also say they will be back again in August. Check their website for details.
Thanks for thr great info! I’m hoping I can see them somewhere.
@@bobcieslinski Actually, they are playing more than just festivals in May and have stand alone (or one-man shows as they call them) in Austin, Nashville, Charlotte, and others - see the entire list on their web site. Pre-sale tix already started, but general public have not yet (this Friday I think)
@@palominokid3002 thanks!
♥ these girls! All are great musicians (especially the bassist, drummer & lead guitarist)
They sure are amazing! I’m really loving what they can do. They sure can rock!
Those ladies are so talented.
Kanami Tono (gt./vo./composer); Miku Kobato (rhythm gt./vo/lyrics/band founder); MISA (bass); Akane Hirose (drums/vo.); Saiki Atsumi (lead vo./acoustic gt.)
Akane Hirose, drummer (and half Gorilla). For me the most creative percussionist out there. Good job! and thank you.
Thanks Juan!
Band-Maid is back in the US playing in the south and midwest this May just releasing their new dates.
I just looked it up, I'm disappointed that they are not coming my way. I will have to see if I can travel for one. Thanks for the info!

Awesome to see you back to the Maids. This song is like their anthem. And hearing it live was such an experience. In fact the entire Okyuji was amazing. Saw them in Chicago in Nov. They are coming back to the states this year, so if you get a chance you should see them. They never disappoint. Always leave you wanting more. ぽ
I’m looking at dates thanks!
Well Bob, if you like Akane's little solo there, you are going to LOVE the drum solo she does in their official live video for Freedom, it's just amazing. When she does that solo, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Jelly Roll Morton, John Bonham and Neil Peart are looking down on her smiling. Jimmy Page attended one their concerts in Tokyo and he sent a note to the band that he would like to meet the drummer, Akane. The ladies though someone was pranking her. She went out and there was Jimmy Page, smiling at her. He told her she was the reincarnation of John Bonham. Akane's nickname is "Gorilla", because she hammers the drums............and she likes bananas, lol. Her fills are the thing of legend. And any of her solos are not her just whaling away crazily, they are planned out to fit in the the song that is being performed so there is no confliction with the rest of the group. She also acts as the band leader and has the electronics right by her kit so she can keep things going properly. The whole effect is just mind blowing. There are so many great videos. If you like instrumentals, check out Onset and From Now On, they are masterpieces.
Wow what a group of drummers you mentioned there Mike. Thanks again for thr great info!
I stumbled across Band Maid last year and have come to believe they are the best band I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. They blow your mind with each new song.
React to "From Now On" it is a tour de force- it's one of the instrumentals they perform to give Saiki's vocal cords a rest.
Band-Maid has been Japan's best kept Hard Rock secret for the last TEN YEARS. They have just announced tour dates for their 2023 tenth anniversary tour and will be in the US this Spring and next August. Every member of the band is a secret weapon. They all have very deep skill stacks. If you just go to their RUclips channel and pick songs at random you will surprised, delighted, and amazed by their music. Most of their songs rock hard but when they go "off label" they can be devastating.
Thanks Etoine! Great info!
Welcome to the Band-Maid world, it’s an awesome journey to knew this spectacular and talented group of girls. Brings a lot of nostalgia to old rock bands and with new proposals with a combination of different styles. Please check the last MV is an instrumental “From now on” it will blow your ears and mind.
Thanks Oscar I will check that out.
I saw Band Maid live in May 2023. I’ve seen this video literally dozens of times and heard it dozens more. It wasn’t until I was a few feet in front of Kanami when I realized just how much work she does on guitar in what could be simple songs. Her octave slides throughout the chorus are just beautifully complimentary within the song. Now that’s what I focus on every time I hear this song
Those were incredible.
Hey Bob.. Long time no see.. Great reaction to the Maids... Do some more there is so much out there.. Freedom live from the same concert is a great next song, Akane on drums lets loose, It's a treat to see.. best wishes from France..
Hey Grant! Yeah it's been too long. I'm going to keep doing their music. They are so good! There is so much music out there, I just need the time to get to it all. Thanks for watching! Catch you later!
I will second that vote for Freedom live. It is an older song and not one of their most technical, but the Maids like playing it and often include it in live shows.
From your comments on this song, I think you will enjoy it.
Yes Grant, Bob does seem pretty taken with Akane. Of course he'll have to fight off Jimmy Page first.😁

The middle Section with the Solos / Guitar Battle is not on the Album Version of the Track. That is how you make a Concert into a Rock Show. Freedom Live form the same Concert has a great Drumm Solo of Akane . BTW this was Track 21 of 22 on the Live Concert and they still deliver this great Energy.

This is just par for the course with our Maids…they are that good. We weren’t kidding when many of us said they’re probably the best band on the planet.
As you love drums, “Freedom” - official live video, has a longer drum solo and you’ve never seen a more joyful band. 😊
Then dozens of songs as good or better than those two and we’re not kidding- they are the real deal in every respect.
You’ll want to learn their names - us Maidiacs love that…it’s really quite easy.

Band-Maid is awesome! They are top-notch at everything they do. I think you would have fun with the Manners / Blackhole live (but no audience :() video... this is two songs that are quite different :). Thanks for the reaction.
Thanks Bradley!
They are all amazing. MISA, the bassist, gets the most attention, but lead guitarist, Kanami writes all the music. Rhythm Guitarist, Miku writes the lyrics. And once Akane, the drummer, locks into the Backing Tracks she is unshakeable. That little huddle around her drums isn't to support her. They're making funny faces at her to make her laugh and try and mess her up during the hard part. Not gonna happen. Her nickname is "The Beast" for a reason. She is a banana powered Half Gorilla / Half Drum Machine. She has a full drum solo in their song, 'Freedom' LIVE. But don't forget 'Real Existence' LIVE.
Thanks T I’ll have to check it out.
Not only are they rockin’, but the sound mixing is outstanding!
MISA! MISA! MISA!
Well, they played 13 dates in the US this past October and just announced another US tour in May plus some more dates to follow in August!! So keep watching for ticket info near you!!
Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Thanks I’ll be looking !
Miku - Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals, Founder of the band and main lyric writer.
Misa - Bass, has done some backing vocals on their acoustic set
Akane - Drums, has done some backing vocals too. She is the 'leader' due to her organizational skills.
Saiki - Lead vocals
Kanami - Lead guitar. She is the main composer of the music. Sweetest person in the world. Has done backing vocals.
The more you listen to and watch their videos the more you realize they are amazing musicians. Watching non-music videos you get to see their personalities and just what fun persons they are. I can't recommend any higher seeing them live though...that's when you'll surrender to their presence. They are dynamic, funny, entertaining and so loveable. I was mad at myself for not going to more than one of the shows they played in California last October. I just hope they come again in August.
Thanks for the great info Eric! I’d love to see them sometime.
You are right. Their concerts are a blast. I saw them twice last fall. They are touring the US in May. Tickets go on sale this week
I’m hoping to see then at some point. I’ll check those dates.
Band-Maid SE and Midwest Tour in May just announced! Can't wait to see them in Atlanta!!!
This song is just a gigantic flex of how awesome these ladies are.
For sure.
They are really good, one of the best rock/metal/fusion bands out today. Bringing back some retro rock vibes and adding so many other elements and making it all work. From the start to where they are now they have only gotten better. This band is definitely one where the sum of the parts is great!
Couldn't agree more!
This video starts with the last note of their song called "Play" ringing out, so there is only a moment between songs. They are all so talented and yes, Akane is a very solid drummer (coming from someone who played drums some 40 years). I recommend "Freedom, Real Existence, Puzzle, Dice" along with maybe 100 more songs. I look forward to your next Band Maid or Nemophila reaction.
Thanks Robert! Cool to talk with a drummer. My son is the drummer in our family. Not an easy instrument to play at all. Such specialized training.
@@bobcieslinski Yeah, I did all the "Band" things way back in school. Played many different styles in different bands like jazz, funk and rock and played hundreds of gigs over the years and was invited to play on Princess Cruses but didn't take the job. Something I've always regretted. You need to jump on those opportunities when you can. Band Maid just announced they are touring the US again in May. Hopefully they will add more stops to their tour and I can see them again. Take care
@@robertbassham8514 pretty cool stuff Robert. I get it I’ve had a few opportunities I didn’t take. They never come back around like you think.
@@bobcieslinski Say, do you want to watch something special? I usually don't recommend Fan-cam videos but this one is a compilation of cell phone recordings from different shows across the US tour of their song "Endless Story". I get emotional when I see Akane crying but it really was a magical tour and the ladies didn't disappoint. It was MISA's birthday (when they were in LA) and you'll see a moment of that before the song starts. Singing this song in the crowd was one of the best moments of the night. ruclips.net/video/_Hc6p_GSxuQ/видео.html
Akane , the drummer has got even better, but then they all have as they are relentless
Band-Maid are currently opening for The Last Rock Stars in US. Only getting to play 5 songs. They love touring in America and will be back headlining here again, hopefully soon.
Saw them October 21, 2022 at House of Blues Dallas. That was founder | rhythm guitarist | backing vocals Miku Kobato's birthday. Really special night. Their concerts are called servings based on Miku having worked at a Japanese Maid Café for three years. Their serving is the most fun I have ever had at a concert, ever. They closed with this song.
They are super talented and since about their album Just Bring It they have written most of their own songs. That little firecracker on lead guitar is Kanami Tōno and she is the mad-scientist of riffage. Akane Hirose has such an easy looking drumming style. She looks so effortless at doing so much. She may be the most fluid drummer I have seen. Misa Misa Misa is one of the best Bass players I have heard. She plays a lot of lead bass at times. Saiki Atsumi has a great voice and excellent stage presence. She is perfect for Miku's catchy lyrics.
Thanks for thr info Charles!
I LOVE band maid :) SO many amazing songs! Such amazing musicians! AS for their names :
Saiki is the lead singer
Miku is rythmn guitar / 2nd vocals / lyricist / Formed the band - usually front man for interviews / MC'ing in concerts along side Saiki.
Akane Drummer
Kanami Lead guitarist and composer for 95% of their songs after first few albums (their first lable wouldnt let them write their own stuff- but thats like 7-8 yr ago now)
Misa Bassist
Misa and AKane also have input into Kanami's compositions for their parts after she sends them the first pass tapes. Ive heard she writes like nearly one a day!
The bass player and drum player are literally among the best on the planet imo. And Kanami's amazing too on lead and even more amazing and writing!
Hope you do some more :) Try Warning Music Video for a fantastic rock song! Or Daydreaming MV for a beautiful power ballad- or From now on for their newest song- an amazing instrumental!
p.s BM might be rock but their songs have tons of influences and styles - some are just rock, some are like metal, or pop, or punk, etc etc- you never quite know what you will get!
Thanks so much for thr great info and kind words!
More dates for the US tour in May just announced. I've often commented- a lot of musicians can play this music- but at this speed? Remember Miku (Red rose) Vocals/Guitar, has only been playing the guitar for a bit less than 9 years.
So true Graham. The speed is the killer the chops and brain power to pull that off is mind blowing.
Ain't heard nothin' yet. Buckle up. You are in for one Hell of a ride. From the ultimate ballad - About Us to their Band Maiko traditional instrument blends to phenomenal instrumentals like Onset.
Have fun. I did when my great grand daughters started me on the Band Maid roller coaster ride. It just keeps getting better.
Nice sounds like you have cool great granddaughters. Sounds like you are pretty cool too. I can’t wait for more.
Good react and good channel man. This is only the beign. You need watch now Real existence live. They are simply Perfects! See you at the next 🤟🏻🦊🇯🇵🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Fox God!
20 minutes ago, Band Maid posted more US tour dates for May and had a tag at the end for the US tour to continue in August
hi Bob. I love your enthusiasm for Band Maid. I would recommend you watch 'Freedom' the official live from the same concert for Akane's drum solo !
Hey Lewis. Thanks for the kind words and suggestion.
I hope to see more reactions from you for this wonderful great band. I saw them live in Oct last year and their concerts are very fun. I like to see you reacct to the song before this song in this concert "PLAY" Great reation and welcome to Band-Maid from this Maidiac.
Thanks so much! These ladies are incredible and they can really rock!
Yes. They have all the good for rock. One of my Holy Trinity (Nightwish, The Warning and Band-Maid)
All great groups. I just finished editing the warning this morning. It will be out in 2 weeks.
"That lady is just awesome!" Yes, times five! Thankfully there is no requirement to choose a favorite. We can enjoy them all!
For sure. 😃
Thank you for a nice reaction. I normally never criticize reactions, but you are a pro, and after two good reactions I must say I think you might be missing something. Maybe not the elephant in the room, but rather the Giant! As a band teacher, you might find that a huge part B-M sound is the unique bass. It should be an inspiration to other base players in the bands you are teaching. MISA is a true GIANT among bass players. Not in fret board acrobatics, but in the unique way of taking the bass out from just being trapped in root notes in the back and to be a huge part of the melody and the filling out "dull" moments in a song. She really is "braking new gates" in the way a bass is used, to paraphrasing a famous song of theirs.
IMO Akane and Misa together as the rythm section are world top and could play Jazz and Funk and even more styles. .
It’s funny you are saying this because I just did Man era Black Hole and mentioned thr bass several times in this one. If I remember right I stopped the video early just to go back and hear that bass again.
If you really like drumming check out Freedom live. Then they can also break it down to tear inducing acoustic renditions that will blow your mind. They are definitely worth traveling to see live. Planning my May route now 😁
They going to us concert in may.. rock ya 🤟🤟🤟
Great reaction Bob, to a great song! No surprise that B-M's drummer, Akane, is good friends with Haruna. 🙂 Looking forward to more B-M and LOVEBITES reactions! You eventually need to react to Nemophila to complete Japan's holy trinity (just my opinion). 🙂Dave
Holy quartet, I'd say. Should include Aldious too. Being the OGs of the current wave of female Japanese HR/HM bands, they get overlooked way too often. I recommend the live version of We Are with Maki Oyama. ruclips.net/video/IRcwS-XvOOk/видео.html
@@One808 Agreed, Aldious is very good!
Hey Dave! Ok, didn't know they knew each other. That's cool! I really have to hear the third band of the trinity. I've hear about them now from several people. Thanks!
Wrong Haruna I'm afraid; Akane is good friend with Haruna the singer/rhythm guitarist from Scandal, not the drummer of Lovebites.
@@guitarandy2406 pretty sure I've seen pics of Haruna / Akane hanging out.
On any given day, Band Maid is probably my favorite band currently working (other days it's The Warning).
Two great bands. Awesome!
Bob -- I believe you're gonna wanna know the Maids names at some point:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, SpokesPigeon, and Founder

Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" aka: MISA MISA MISA - Bass
Thanks again Tom! It will take me awhile but I’ll get it.
The current tour schedule...

Might not make these dates. Hopefully closer ones in August. Thanks!
They have 7 concert dates set up in U.S. starting in May ,I saw on Ticket master .
I saw it too. I’m bummed nothing really close or a good time while I’m still teaching. Hoping for something in August.
Thanks for talking about the "click Track" Bob. I think many ppl misunderstand how it is used and its purpose. Those sudden starts? Yup click track cues the whole band, but keeping time ? Not really a big impact. It can help if you slip off time a bit (as a drummer) for some reason, but its not like their arms are aired to the computer lol
Yep for sure. There still have to be thinking and talent there. Live your name by the way. Lol
And you want to see great drumming, Freedom live from the same concert
It is fun. :-) They are playing in the US this summer, May-August.
This song was my intro to Band-Maid and the Miku-Kanami guitarbattle is still my favourite B-M moment.
You have to do Freedom official live video next. It is from the same consert
the first note you hear on the video is the last note of the previous song they played as you can see in "BAND-MAID / Play (Official Live Video)" they often jump song to song with barley a breath between.
have a look at "Freedom" from the same concert Akane Hirose the drummer has a incredible long solo and if you listen closely all the way through she never losses time or her huge smile and when she comes out of the solo she blends perfectly into the returning guitars then supports the lead guitar solo
Thanks Gordon for the awesome info!
Thank you for responding to BAND-MAID's song, it was a really fun time. I hope someday you will respond to "ON SET", "FROM NOW ON" or "WITHOUT HOLDING BACK". There are no singers, but their technical talent is evident.
Thanks for the suggestions!
The greatest rock band in the world! I love them so much my friends think I'm in a Band-Maid cult. I don't know if anyone has given you their names and instruments but here you go:
Saiki Atsumi- first vocalist
Miku Kobato- rhythm guitarist, second vocalist, lyricist and founder
Kanami Tono- lead guitarist and composer
MISA- bassist
Akane Hirose-drummer (and my personal favorite member, usually)
If you like Akane's drumming then I recommend checking out the official live video for"Freedom". And then the rest of their live videos and music videos.
Thanks Madiac! That’s funny about thr cult. These ladies are so good it’s easy to get lost in their music.
They'll be in the States in May! Hope you can see them!👍🏽
May 14 Houston,TX Bayou Music Center
May 15 Austin,TX Emo's
May 18 Daytona,FL Welcome to Rockville Fest
May 19 Atlanta,GA Buckhead
May 21 Nashville,TN Brooklyn Bowl
May 22 Charlotte,NC Underground
May 24 Detroit,MI St Andrews Hall
May 26 Columbus,OH Sonic Temple Festival
May 27 St. Louis,MO Pointfest Radio Show
Thanks Donald!
They'll be in the states throughout the year playing shows and festivals all over the country so that's pretty cool
I think their very best overall songs are Manners and the instrumental From Now On. They are just in a league all their own.
They are Touring the US again in May with both solo and festival appearances and they will be back for another month-long US tour in August.
Thanks!
They're coming back to the US in May. You should attend one of their concerts. It's life invigorating.
If I can make it to one I will. The closest is Columbus.
Band-Maid:
Saiki - Lead Vocals
Miku - Rhythm Guitar, Primary Lyricist, 2nd Lead Vocalist (& formed Band-Maid)
Kanami - Lead Guitarist (and Primary Songwriter)
MISA - Bass
Akane - Drums
Every single band member are AMAZING at what they do. As an oldschool Rocker/Metalhead, these ladies are the first band in decades to get me excited about music again. Their stuff is new & fresh, yet wakes up the 80's teenager (jammin' out) in me.
Band Maid - Saiki(vocal), Akane(drummer), Misa(bass), Kanami(guitar) and Miku(lead guitar). Misa(bass) using Black Smoke 5 string bass, Kanami using PRS guitar and Miku using Zemaitis guitar, Akane using drum set Tama Starclassic (Bubinga). Kanami using PRS guitar because her icon guitar is legend guitarist Carlos Santana who also using PRS guitar.
Thanks for the great info Adidi!
Freedom live has a sick Drum solo by Akane. it has a little more "Pop" feel to it but still a Great song to react to. Thanks for the Awesome review!!
Thanks I’ll have to check it out.
Akane the drummer is so good the other members gather around her and make faces at her to try and get her to mess up I don't think it's ever happened
That’s funny Ernest! Sounds like typical musicians. 😂
nice reaction!
If you like her drumming, check out the same concert 'Freedom'.
When AKANE raises the stick up high, it's a cue to make you smile.
If you want to listen to their instrumentals, check latest 'From Now On'.
'Onset live' and 'WithOut Holding Back' are also pretty good.
Thanks so much Ozone!
What you need to know about their music is that evolve as every song is challenge from themself on how to acquire new techniques or push the boundaries of their sound.
Thanks Hernan!
You can find BAND-MAID's 10th Anniversary Tour with the U.S. tour dates on the "BAND-MAID News Network" RUclips channel. They've posted 10 dates in May with more to come in August. Saw them in October, and they were awesome!
Arigatou! 🦊🤘
Thanks Doc!
If I had to pick just one more Band-Maid song for you to react to before moving on, I would pick Black Hole. It's probably their wildest song (imo) for all the techniques used. It will take your breath away.
Thanks Payable!

Thanks Clint!
And she's doin all that complex drum pattern smiling like its nothing
Yep it’s amazing what thr mind and body gets used to.
How have you managed to NOT have listened to PTX, IMAGINE? They sound is other worldly!
It’s on the list
Bob great reaction,no band has ever enthused me much so as these ladies, they are the real deal, and as people have said, they dont do poor songs ,try the latest release,From Now On,its an instrumental 1 of many that they do,enjoy the journey.
Thanks Steven! I can understand why. They are amazing!
At 3:36 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 5:22 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in her curled finger so she can produce it and switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond. At 8:13 - A brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one sweet rolling chord pattern - pure class. THE best live Rock band on Earth. And beyond.
Saiki Atsumi - (SIGH-kee) - Lead vocals, Born Feb 8, 1994 28 years old, 'the Ice Queen'.
MISA - (MEE-sa) - Bass, Born Oct 15, 1992 30 years old, 'the Barefoot Assassin'.
Miku Kobato (MEE-koo) - Founder of the band, Lyricist, rhythm guitar, backing vocals. Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old, 'the Small Pigeon' (Real name - Mika Noguchi )
Kanami Tono - (KAH-nah-mee) - Lead guitar, Born Sept 28, 1991 31 years old, the Natural Airhead, Songwriting and Musical Genius, 'Princess'
Akane Hirose - (AH-ka-nay) - Drums, Born Dec 14, 1990 31 years old, 'the Gorilla'.
PS - Akane performs a 30 second drum solo in the live song FREEDOM - ruclips.net/video/FYGcOB8S_AM/видео.html
Thanks for thr great info Tony!
Real Existence is another top live clip. Welcome to The Maidiacs Bob. : )
Thanks Paul!
They are doing another US tour this year...check it out
Thanks Schelin!
Thanks Bob for a great song and reaction!
Thanks Mak! Great band and song!
Hi Bob. What a great reaction to this BM song. They are definitely my favourite rock band. I won’t go into all the accolades of each member as I’m sure other commenters will do that. I would like to correct you lightly, and politely of course, about your comment of them “trying to outdo each other.” One thing about these ladies is that they support each other in their songs. I know that you didn’t mean it in a critical way though and I’m just having a bit of fun with you lol. Enjoy the rabbit hole that is Band-Maid and make sure to buckle up. 😊😅
I see your link is to Sweetwater, I’ve purchased some of my studio things from them.
Hi again. I was wondering if you would listen to one of my favourite bands in the 80’s, Yes. In particular this song from a 2017 concert. The sound is “Changes” and here is the link.
