    Today’s video:
    According to a major investigation by DeSmog, the global meat industry is “borrowing tactics from tobacco companies” and following the example set by fossil fuel giants to “confuse and delay regulation” regarding their planet-destroying ways.
    The five-month-long investigation included a comprehensive review of hundreds of documents and statements by meat industry companies and trade associations.
    The research showed that major industry players were even going as far as to actively portray themselves as climate leaders by:
    - Downplaying the impact of livestock farming on the climate and casting doubt on the efficacy of alternatives to meat to combat climate change.
    - Promoting the 'health benefits of meat' while overlooking the industry’s environmental footprint.
    - Exaggerating the potential of agricultural innovations to reduce the livestock industry’s ecological impact.

      We should defend That Vegan Teacher Miss Kadie as a vegan community! She is being subjected to many lies and people are threatening her safety. She is an amazing person who did nothing wrong. All she did was to stand up and speak for the voiceless animals. She is on youtube now and still she is trying to promote the vegan message any way she can! All she thinks is to inform others about the horrors of the animal agriculture and how easy and healthy veganism is. We should be more supportive of her as the vegan community! 💖

      One of my favourite anti-vegan arguments.
      > People assume vegans are pro-choice since they view veganism as a "liberal" philosophy. But people don't realise they've been trained to view the world through a simple, reductionist prism. In this case when a movement like veganism begins to gain traction, they unconsciously and automatically try to categorise it by asking themselves "where can I place this on the left-right political spectrum?" But often that question makes as much sense as asking a mother how much she values her children in monetary terms. It's a sort of category mistake. Veganism isn't like Catholicism: there's no central vegan authority who dictates what vegans have to believe. Some vegans will be pro-choice and some will be pro-life.
      > Suppose everything I've just said is wrong, and all vegans are pro-choice. Why would that make them hypocrites? Thinking that it would says more about you than it does about them. You're effectively saying an inanimate mass of cells has more moral value than a fully developed, living, breathing animal who actually has the capacity to think and suffer, just because the embryo happens to be composed of human cells, the same kind of cells that you are made out of. Isn't that the worst kind of chauvinism?
      > But again, suppose that everything I've just said is wrong, and all vegans are pro-choice, and that makes them moral hypocrites. How would that count in any way against the idea of veganism? It wouldn't. To argue otherwise would be a fallacious appeal to hypocrisy (also called the _tu quoque_ fallacy). Just because someone doesn't practice what they preach, it doesn't mean what they preach is wrong.
      So the "but what about abortion?" argument doesn't even begin to get off the ground. And the fact that it's one of the most common anti-vegan arguments just shows how weak the anti-veganism position is overall.

It was quite hard to search for vegan snacks without palm oil but here are some . I will update this list as soon as I learn/found more products without palm oil . Please you all also suggest more products in the section specially chocolate coz it's very very very hard to find vegan chocolate without palm oil ( if available in India coz I am Indian ) .
    Hope you will enjoy and please recommend these products to all vegans because I had literally searched whole Google for VEGAN SNACKS WITHOUT PALM OIL but there were Less than 3 or 4 websites which had some snacks without palm oil and so , for the new going vegans it would be easier , Please .

    7 Cornitos ( Thai sweet chilli + Peri Peri )
    8 Ching's veg Hakka noodles

I am always ready for constructive criticism and work on myself, but there is a point at which things go off the scale, in terms of suffering and destruction caused. It's a bit like having friends who are good in many ways but support child prostitution in Thailand, white supremacy ("they took ar jaabs!"), slavery or such like. There is a such major difference in the implications of certain belief systems that if you are doing your best in all areas, you have a right to be adamantly critical of your friends who are stuck in psychopathy (in that sense). Being a Kiwi, nice to hear the NZ government challenged NZ Beef & Lamb's claims.
    Also funny a UK industry would cite a study from another country - different land mass, different environment and, statistically, I believe NZ is quite low on animal production units, when compared to other parts of the world, like the UK - except for sheep, that is.
    The phasing out of such practices is going to be generational anyway, as some people's livelihoods are rooted in the industry and their children are raised into the industry - speciesism operates much the same way as other isms, in this respect - like racism.
    Only younger generations choosing to not participate and not take jobs in these industries will lower demand and age-out the old beliefs and practices.
    Your work is valuable in helping give people the awareness, Ed - as with awareness comes choice.

    • @strollbaby
      @strollbaby 2 года назад +1

      @robert porter spe·cies·ism (spē′shē-zĭz′əm, -sē-)
      n.
      Intolerance or discrimination on the basis of species, especially as manifested by cruelty to or exploitation of animals by humans.
      racism (ˈreɪsɪzəm) or racialism
      n.
      1. (Sociology) the belief that races have distinctive cultural characteristics determined by hereditary factors and that this endows some races with an intrinsic superiority over others
      2. (Sociology) abusive or aggressive behaviour towards members of another race on the basis of such a belief
      (The Free Online Dictionary by Farlax)
      The similarities are right there but the similarity I was referring to was that both speciesism and racism can be generational, as in, can be taught to and passed on to children through parentage.
      Also, not sure which crack-down you are referring to - I'm guessing it's the emissions and ute tax because of our carbon-footprint-reduction initiative - as you probably know, agriculture, as well as vehicle emissions, are leading sectors for carbon emissions.
      It is a tough pill to swallow, I know, and sometimes fighting the government can be like banging your head against a wall but some farmers are taking an active role to minimize emissions and preserve the environment like, planting to minimize water pollution and adding other plants to feed to reduce methane.
      Don't really know a lot about the emissions tax or the ute tax, as it’s not really my area of reading right now but was thinking the vehicle is factored in to farming emissions and not sure if all farm vehicles are registered for road use so thinking some farm vehicles don't pay road user tax - not entirely sure of this though as have too much reading to add more to my list.
      Was wondering though, if you were still around in 50 years, and demand for your industry declined, would you be willing to diversify - I think most businesses would, as a matter of survival - and if you were willing to diversify - when the time came - if you couldn't stop the government, and your livelihood depended on it - wouldn't it make some sense to look at low-emission business alternatives now rather than when you are stuck between a rock and a hard place?
      One thing most farmers have is stacks of land, depending on location, that land could be used for a range of things, hydro, solar, wind, thermal, horticulture.
      Times are changing - some people may not weather the changes but some people, if they can peer into the future and see what's coming, may just adapt and come out right as rain.
