      However, I‘m still curious about where he got his interceptor from since it was blown up in The Road Warrior. Is Fury Road a remake? A direct sequel to Mad Max? But that also wouldn’t make much sense, since in that movie the Interceptor gets totaled.

    Mad Max is a legend told by people who rebuilt civilisation. It makes me wonder if stories of ancient Greek heroes were once based on real people and became embellished over time. Several different stories coalising to make a more consistent narrative.

    Even though everyone keeps saying (2 and 4 have the best car chases and scenes!), everyone is absolutely WRONG. The original mad max opening car scene is one of if not the best car chase scene ever made (only rivaled by the one in bullitt).
    You have to look at the fact that the original movie was made on a budget of only $250,000 (after currency conversion from AU to USD). They had almost no money for special effects as the majority went towards the vehicles and actors / crew. The opening car chase scene is as real as it gets! Especially with the baby being between the two car hurling down the highway at over 100 MPH?! There were no tow cables, no safety crew, the actors themselves had to drive the cars and bikes for most scenes INCLUDING the MFP car that went through the camper van. It is SEVERELY underrated. All things considered, it is the most realistic car chase ever put on screen.

    To all those who are bickering about continuity: I think you got it all wrong. Mad Max isn't a series of movies that build up on each other storywise. It's more like the Legend of Zelda series where every game there is a new Link, a new Zelda, a new Gannon and a new story to be told about them. I mean come on. They have the exact same guy playing the helicopter pilot in Thunderdome but he ISN'T the Gyro Captain and doesn't know Max? If that isn't a dead giveaway that there is no continuity in a traditional sense, then I don't know what is.

Its why i love the movies because although they don't spoon feed it to you as you watch you discover it. Like the "witness" saying of the war boys in Mad Max Fury Road. I don't get all the Hate on Mad Max. I loved it. It did exactly what it wanted to, and was visually stunning. The Mad Max franchise was never much on story telling, from what I heard each movie is supposed to be a story in the legend of Mad Max and that there is no real canon to it.

    Should've been called Mad Charlize. I'm sorry, but there just wasn't enough Max. It was like he was the dueteragonist instead of the main protoganist. The movies stayed true to what made mad max amazing in the environment and post apocalyptic craziness, but max was just not there. 3 out of 5 stars.

    • @BigMikeMcBastard
      @BigMikeMcBastard 9 лет назад +19

      jeste4187 Max himself isn't the driving force behind these movies. It isn't his character that is interesting, it's the world he lives in, the exotic characters therein, and the action that takes place. Mad Max could be a silent protagonist and nothing of value would be lost from the movies.

    • @goldenfox6322
      @goldenfox6322 9 лет назад +14

      jeste4187 Max is the legend. He's almost like a folkloric creation that spans generations of the wastes. He's just a guy that gets caught up in craziness, but manages to be a major, driving force in historically epic events. He's an inspiration to all the downtrodden remnants of society, that they don't have to live under the thumbs of the Warlords.
      At least, that's how I look at max, as a character. Especially in Fury Road, and Road Warrior.

    Fury road did not do the original trilogy any justice. Tom hardy barely spoke the whole time and did not even seem like a leading protagonist worthy of naming the entire movie after. It was aesthetically pleasing I'll give it that but there was zero substance.

    • @markusbisma5015
      @markusbisma5015 9 лет назад +13

      vince gredo Mel Gibson barely spoke in original trilogy. He famously only has 16 lines in road warrior which is less than Tom Hardy. But I agree Mel Gibson is a better max than Tom Hardy

    • @henryhill92
      @henryhill92 9 лет назад +16

      vince gredo Zero substance? Did you completely miss the subtext on men and women? Furiosa giving Max the mother's milk from the rig, then Max giving her his blood later? Themes of ownership, place and what it means to be feminine or masculine? There was FAR more substance than the average action film.
      As for him being not the central character or having a lot of lines, that's kind of the point. Mad Max is supposed to be a series of stories about Max helping other people, being a part of THEIR stories.

    If someone could answer me this, it's be much appreciated. I've seen all of the Mad Max movies and I heard that Fury Road takes place between 2 and 3. What doesn't make sense to me, is how Max's intercepter has made it through. In The Road Warrior, it's destroyed near the end. It is back again and destroyed again in Fury Road and then it is seen in the workshop in Beyond Thunderdome...
