The owner obviously liked and drove it, he bought new tires for it at one point! (The tire labels aren't from when the car was new - they are long gone by the time a new car gets to a dealership.) While I'd like to have seen the car cared for better too, at least the owner didn't leave it outside to rot, and he got in touch with Larry to have it fixed up. I'm gonna cut him some slack.
I was QC supervisor at the assembly plant in Saint John, NB Canada when the first car rolled of the assembly line and was there when we got word that the plant was closing due to the Provincial Government no longer financing the manufacturer. I was in charge of inspection of the frame and body fabrication, engine and axle assembly. The bodies were acrylic molded over fiberglass, not painted. Everything was fiberglass except the tubular frame underneath, the passenger compartment and the gullwing door frames. The carpets were not green but a tan, matching the interior. It was a good idea to change from hydraulic to air system door openers that were changed by others years later. We had the occasional hydraulic line break during assembly testing which made a huge mess. Overall it was a beautiful, powerful car. i wish I had one.

Probably my favorite memory with him so far. I absolutely love old cars and I will never let go of that. I never even knew these existed! My first time seeing a car that got me into older cars was a Lincoln futura replica that I saw on Netflix from counting cars I believe.
These were built in New Brunswick Canada in the town called Minto. There’s a few you see around from time to time. Definitely a cool looking car, but it wasn’t without issues.
My brother is actually restoring one of these recently, he’s gotten it to where its ready for the customer. He said its been a lot of fun and a great project because he has never heard of this car up until recently.
Just sat there with my mouth open (except when the maggots were shown). Beautiful work. You really are an artist! Somehow, your subscription disappeared but got it on again. Surprisingly, it really kicks my butt to keep our cars clean with twice-a-year detailing.
I haven't seen one in a long time, maybe 20 years. I'm lucky to see a few up here in Canada, I guess a hold on to our failed automotive attempt up here. Kind of like the DeLorean is in Ireland.
I love to watch the passion ❤️🔥 you put in your work if our world could be ruled and lead this way what a better world we would be living in. Nice work
This is what happens when you have more money then sense. This owner should have sold it years ago instead of letting it rot away. Me thinks someone has a hoarding problem.
They’ve really jumped in price. They were quite cheap. I just looked them up and found one in Florida for $55K. Wouldn’t surprise me if RUclips made them desirable.
Your work on that was more than a challenge! Super disgusting. Please throw away everything what came in contact with this car. You just made an incredible work mate!
"Defunkification" that is definitely a word I will be using in the future. Your work is amazing. I thought I was the queen of clean...until I watched this video. I'd be a close second because I would have run for the hills after finding the critter nests and maggots. Yuck!
I was thankful enough to see not only a bricklin at my last big car show visit, but even two original delorians owned by the same person… one of them was even the brushed silver!!!
When I used to do cable, I really appreciated when the homeowners went ahead and cleaned any area I was going to be working in if it was full of stuff, that way I wouldn't have to climb around anything, or take my time to wait for them and me to clean the place before I could work.
I can't believe you got to clean a Bizzarrini P538 at 6:14. Those are so very incredibly rare. Really Good job on the disgusting Bricklin. I absolutely love the cool Tiesto soundtrack. Thank you.
This car was built in my home town of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, there’s a guy a town over that has restored two of them and has them in his driveway all summer
I'm 10th. Btw, I absolutely love watching your detailing videos and often argue with my friends that these are indeed therapeutic. But as expected none of em agree with me. 😔
Kudos for taking the Bricklin on and making it look that good. It's scary people let their investments fall in such a sorry state, but of course it opens up opportunities for you.
This is really cool. I just can't understand how people will leave a vehicle exposed to insects and rodents like that for so long. Even when I've left a vehicle in extended "hibernation", I've always gone out routinely to check to make sure the interior, engine compartment, and other areas don't show any signs of infestation.
Question: aren´t you compromising the paint job by cleaning with a towel on Step 1? You certainly have lubrication from the foam but there is nasty dirt undernees
As others have mentioned, it takes a certain kind of sadist to let something get this bad instead of selling it to someone who wants to restore it. My biggest pet peeve is when you find something this bad, and are willing to invest more time then the car is worth to restoring it, the owner thinks he has a long lost treasurer and wants the value of a fully restored car
I live in Pennsylvania, which is notorious for destroying cars outright...and not just oldies or collectables. modern cars will literally disintegrate under the load of salt, stone, sand and general dirt ALONE, here. combine this with the continuous shortfall of road maintenence budgets, garage owners that no longer care or are afraid of getting sued, owners that either junk a car outright or let them sit OUTSIDE to disintegrate, and still suffering from "rust belt" corrosion problems, finding anything vaguely roadworthy that isn't only a couple-three years old is a miracle. this is why watching the rest of the country somehow find and fund a fixup of these barn collectables is such a sheer pleasure to watch.
Bro! I worked through Covid without wearing a bunny suit or goggles. I would never attack a car like that or the plane you did without that though! Mad props to your Tyler Durdenesque manliness!
About 30 years ago I saw a Bricklin at a museum it was pretty impressive and it reminded me of another car called the Delorean which was the car in the Back to the future movies.

Always incredible. Small point of order: those “maggots” are beetle larvae, Zophobas morio.
Thanks, I was looking for that. They didn't look like maggots to me.
I can't imagine having a car like this and not even putting a cover over it
@@idontlikecops1 i’m sure it will be less than that duh
He doesnt even deserve it just for that reason...
"wow thanks man!"
*puts it back in the barn to rot*
I would have been more happy if the owners allowed the car to be restored completely , so that this beauty could Roar on the roads
My brother is actually restoring one of these recently, he’s gotten it to where its ready for the customer. He said its been a lot of fun and a great project because he has never heard of this car up until recently.
Its SO SAD to see a car in that condition..
Absolutely amazing Larry… You are a true inspiration brother
My inlaws had one of these briefly back when they were first rolled out. They said it looked cool but it was the biggest pile of crap they ever owned.
I love that he said the doors broke and trapped people. His skills are amazing but tbh I'd have put a match to it 😂
Thats why you're a cleaning legend. I think most people would just turn around and say NO on this one lol
The barn finds are my favourite videos! I bet seeing the car fixed up beautifully brought back a lot of memories for that man 💙🇨🇦
Wow. This is really amazing. Love witnessing your passion for doing this especially on minute details such as cracks.
Thanks
Awesome, job ! Great detail and can tell this was extremely painstaking and many long hours ! ❤
Wish I could've seen his reaction when you gave him the spare key back lol
I remember as a kid in St John my dad worked for Bricklin and got to take a car home. I got picks of my childhood with Bricklins in the driveway.
I love it when people find older cars like this and bring them back to life. I wish I could afford a car like the Bricklin CV-1.
CV-1?
Cool Vehicle 1?
They’ve really jumped in price. They were quite cheap. I just looked them up and found one in Florida for $55K. Wouldn’t surprise me if RUclips made them desirable.
Your work on that was more than a challenge! Super disgusting. Please throw away everything what came in contact with this car. You just made an incredible work mate!
Lol, I didn’t know CT was big enough for part of it to be considered “upstate.” (Ps I live in CT)
Where I'm from, anything north of Waterbury was considered upstate.
@@Rendclaw especially that everything north of waterbury is like all farm land
"Defunkification" that is definitely a word I will be using in the future. Your work is amazing. I thought I was the queen of clean...until I watched this video. I'd be a close second because I would have run for the hills after finding the critter nests and maggots. Yuck!
It's always heartwarming to hear the owner's comments 😁
😂
I was thankful enough to see not only a bricklin at my last big car show visit, but even two original delorians owned by the same person… one of them was even the brushed silver!!!
This car was basically the delorean of the 70's
This ought to be a good one 🍿
would've loved to see the owners reaction when you showed him his spare set of keys
I was actually waiting for the ending … he prob forgot to ask lol or add it in the clip , ah well
reminds me a Delorean, great transformation 😎👍
This is like cleaning the entire Earth and finding out we’ve all been living on The Death Star…
It's just criminal that someone has enough money to buy a car like that,
then put it in stupid storage and let it be destroyed.
Love these barn finds
When I used to do cable, I really appreciated when the homeowners went ahead and cleaned any area I was going to be working in if it was full of stuff, that way I wouldn't have to climb around anything, or take my time to wait for them and me to clean the place before I could work.
This will get over a million views
Piece of history. I can think of another phrase that would be equally applicable. Great vid, as always 👍
I can't believe you got to clean a Bizzarrini P538 at 6:14. Those are so very incredibly rare. Really Good job on the disgusting Bricklin. I absolutely love the cool Tiesto soundtrack. Thank you.
Just another reason why you are the GOAT! Amazing transformation.
I appreciate that!
Then back to garage for another 20 Years ...
All Love for the Obscurity!
A person holding a car for 24 years in those conditions and then pretends to be surprised by the result is to lock up inside a manichomy.
This car was built in my home town of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, there’s a guy a town over that has restored two of them and has them in his driveway all summer
Too rusty to remove the seats, sounds like too lazy to remove them to me
... or too busy with other priorities.
13:40 After I burned my clothes 😂
I call BS on the story the owner gave re when he got it
Question: aren´t you compromising the paint job by cleaning with a towel on Step 1? You certainly have lubrication from the foam but there is nasty dirt undernees
The very first thing I would have done was ozone the hell out of the interior to kill any mold spores and the smell.
I remember your video of washing your wife’s car in front of your house after vacation, now look at your set up! Good for you man!
Thanks for all the stories Larry. I can only imagine the sentimental value these cars hold.
Sad that the owner just left it to rot like that. Good on you for rescuing it. I've never seen a real one.
About 30 years ago I saw a Bricklin at a museum it was pretty impressive and it reminded me of another car called the Delorean which was the car in the Back to the future movies.
