After a long construction period, the time had finally come. The first flight for the technical acceptance could take place.
Rainer Kamitz was at the sticks and did an impressive flight.

It sounded like real because this aircraft is powered by a scaled down miniature turbine engine like the real ones. Uses the same high grade kerosene as fuel.

@@dragnbane this hobby can be very low cost , if you purchase entry level RC aircraft made from China . With everything, you can start with less than $200 , entry level trainer RC aircraft. You also need someone to train you to fly proficiently. Learning to fly RC aircraft is harder than learning to drive a car.

That’s very impressive flying considering the real airbus has multiple computers that make adjustments hundreds of times a minute to keep it flying smooth, this guy is doing it with a radio controller. Bravo man!

I am a rc pilot aswel and it isnt that hard to keep it stable but you don’t have an onboard camera on most of these “passager” rc planes.
So you kinda gotta guess how to fly and where your plane is and he is really good at that.

@@125Addicted Modern planes don’t glide because of their shapes and need multiple computers to keep them in the air. The Air Bus also does not glide and is very difficult to keep in the air for the same reason, that’s why IMO what the guy is doing is very very impressive. That plane will react like the real thing or worse due to its shape and scale.

Once again, an amazing model aircraft video. My dad was an aerospace engineer who graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1939. He specialized in control systems and the P-38 was his first project, with Lockheed. He later worked for North American, before Rockwell got added to their name. He worked on the X-15 and the B-70 (which got cancelled). He would have loved to see videos like this. This gives me an appreciation of what I see here.
What I would love to see is someone who builds a model of a fire fighting aircraft. One capable of dropping retardant. Someone could light a small, safe fire on the ground and then drop retardant on it enough to keep it from spreading. That would really knock one out of the park!
The thing that impresses me beyond all the normal stuff is just how well it flies with exposed landing gear. Everyone involved in this should be so proud and that pilot really put the cherry on the cake. Top, top notch work!
Best flight ever, not because of the size of the plane but because of the skills of the pilot. 1st time in a while I've seen someone who waited until the plane wanted to fly on take off and waited for the plan to settle in at the landing. True scale flying.

... as you may have noticed, the nose gear was retracted (4:32), but the main gears unfortunately stuck for some reason. Therefore the pilot released the nose gear, in order to don't force the electric motors of the main gears.
The functionality of the gears has been tested on ground and they worked perfectly. Now stronger electric motors for the retracts has been mounted.

When my son was about 11 years old he entered a Jaycee Relay Race. He’d never ran track before and didn’t know everybody wore shorts. He came in jeans, to everyone’s amusement. He ran the last leg for his team - and came away the fastest runner of the day, and made up considerable distance to win. This video made me think of that day. How I wish I had been able to see it, instead of only hear and read about it. I was a single mom and had to work. My son was an amazing athlete. ❤️

Tantawat H you could mount a 100 GoPros to the wings and fuselage and it will still be able to fly, one or 2 gopros won’t be such a big deal.
@@RCScaleAirplanes Very nice plane. Though shouldn't have chosen the front/back angle, since it shows the propellers. Also, if you could make the landing gear retract (like the concorde), that would be amazing.
@@tg916.th.21 aerodynamics don't really matter that much for rc-planes. All you need is for it to fly, no need to minimize fuel/energy consumption

What a beautiful plane - slightly puzzled regarding the apparent appearance of slight down thrust - judging by the nacelles. Probably not reflecting actual engine's thrust line.
Superb take off and a fine proving flight... looked like ideal conditions. What a super landing - phew!

Thank you for your great comment. Christopher asked his friend to make the maiden because Rainer has a lot of experience with large models. As you can imagine, some adjustments and trimming have to be carried out during the first flight. You need calm nerves and skills.
Small air baffles were attached to the turbines to divert the exhaust gas jet from the wings.

theoretically it would be possible. however, the fuselage is too fragile to carry additional weight.

I don’t know how this ended up as something to watch on my feed but I love it. What a remarkable feat of engineering. I’ve been lucky enough to fly on one of these (real one!) several times but what a joy to see a model like this. Great work and great skill im sure to fly as well.
