  • @taofledermaus

    That is really impressive. Makes me wonder who is controlling it - the glider pilot or the airplane pilot - or it is a coordination between the pilots?

    • @ratajo
      @ratajo Год назад +17

      Hello and thank you so much for your kind comments on this project.
      Only the glider is controlling the flight until the separation. We stay close together and talk to each other, who does what and when. The separation is the ecxiting moment, therfore it should fly evenly and straight

    Thank you, years ago one of my great uncles was an infantryman in a glider although I always thought they were towed by an aircraft. Watching this and seeing that maybe he wasn't towed but literally lifted up underneath another plane gives me a whole new appreciation for how he and his comrades must have felt. Thank you so much for this, very interesting and informative.

      Thank you very much. Please be aware that in History this was only experimetal, not operational. The DFS230 asault glider was tested in Mistel-configuration together with Klemm 35, Focke Wulf FW-56- Stösser and finally with Messerschmitt BF-109.

    Holy smokes - this was something different -- amazing build. My heart was in my mouth at take-off - phew, what a relief. Kudos to the pilots managing this combo, and separation went great... although by sound of things there was quite a lot of wind to fight with. Safe landings - more relief. This was something to the record books Horst - memorable :)

      Indeed, but for the flight, there are simple rules. The glider uses its rudders and ailerons while the upper plane only use the throttle. After separation, each pilot flies its own model.

    Is the release wire stay with the glider or the smaller model? In other words where is the servo to release the glider?

    • @ratajo
      @ratajo 10 месяцев назад

      There is a thin rope fixed in the Klemm. It is attached to a towing clutch in the glider. After clutching via Servo in the glider, the rope is pre-tensioned with a screw in the fuselage of the Klemm.

      The Klemm stands in two shells with its main wheels and the rear end of the fuselage lays in a forke made outof spring-whire. The Klemm is downforced to the glider only by a thin rope during start and flight. This rope is released and the planes separate. That's all.

    So was spannendes habe ich ja noch nicht gesehen , gab es so etwas verrücktes tatsächlich ? Warum diese huckepack Lösung anstatt es zu schleppen , bzw wo waren da die Vorteile die die vielen Nachteile überwiegen mir erschließt sich das Konzept nicht .
    Auch beim Flug müssen so die Piloten gut miteinander kommunizieren in echt wie beim Modell . Könnte mir vorstellen das vor dem Trennen die eigentliche Steuerung vom unteren Flugzeug durchgeführt wird da es deutlich größer ist und entsprechend mehr Ruderwirkung mit sich bringt oben wird sicher mit unterstützend gesteuert und dafür braucht es gute absprachen .
    auch die Flugzeuge aufeinander stapeln im Modellbau sicher kein Problem im Original nicht mal eben erledigt .
    So oder so eine faszinierendes und sehr spannendes Video würde sagen ein highlight 2023 und toppt fast alles was ich bisher gesehen hatte .
    Auch der detail Grad der Modelle sehr schön mit liebe gebaut und geflogen .

      Vielen Dank für das Lob! Ja das gab es wirklich. Der Segler steuert die Richtung das Motormodell hauptsächlich die Leistung, bis zum Ausklinken. Aber alle diese Fragen wurden weiter unten ja schon beantwortet.

    Das Mistel-Konzept war im Original nicht nachhaltig erfolgreich. Dies dennoch im Modellbau nachzuvollziehen ist hohe Kunst, Hut ab vor dieser Leistung.

      Yes and no. What you describe is correct in many cases. But there were much more projects with this basic idea. What you see here is one of the tested configuration with exactly these two manned aircraft. Should have been an alternative to usual towing of assault gliders.
