A very short flash in the pan career. Baseball history is full of pitchers like this only in years pasts they couldn't keep medically repairing them. Not being nasty it's very true.

    Had a 2.64 ERA in 1,169 innings an .99WHIP
His first CY young year 1.70ERA .55 WHIP. 217 innings 152 hits 41ER opp average .196 in 217 innings 269 SO amazing.

Jake was my all-time favorite player. I don’t care about the injuries; I wish he’d stayed. If there’s one guy I’d bet on to pull a Verlander and win the Cy Young after having Tommy John surgery, if there’s one guy I’d bet on to still end up being worth his contract, it’s Jake. It just sucks that it won’t be in a Mets uniform. This won’t happen, but if he were to re-sign with the Mets for his age-40 season in 2028, it would guarantee that they’d retire his #48. _Ghar waapas aaja, bhaiyya! Please bhaiyya, ghar waapas aaja! 😭_ (Bollywood fans and Hindi speakers should get that reference.)
