    I've got a Vevor heater on the way and considering this pump for the sake of having an integrated fuel filter. The noise abatement would be a bonus (though if the noise really bothers me even with my stereo going, I'll make a fitted thermal blanket for mine to go over the housing, like your blanket idea that you mention towards the end of your video), but it seems on these "self contained" heater assemblies (mine is the same design as yours) having a filter integrated into the pump is a great way to go for the sake of the little space that's available inside the housing (assuming mine doesn't already come with a filter, which I've been seeing that some do).

    Premium! That clicking didn’t sound to loud to me once it was running but maybe it was the video like you said. If you could hear it all day fishing it might get a little annoying. I watched this video a week ago but for some reason I didn’t comment lol. Thanks this gives me some good ideas of upgrades and new toys to think about for ice fishing 🤙😎

    It’s caused by cavitation(air pockets) buildup in the pump.
    Just hit it a couple times, while it’s running, with a hard device and it should go quiet.

      Do you just need the filter or the pump with built in filter? For the pump, you might need the 28ml version.

    • @ChasingtheKraken
      @ChasingtheKraken  Месяц назад

      No, not too bad at all. A dull roar from the combustion, some ticking from the pump that shouldn't carry far and a bit of fan noise.

      @ChasingtheKraken ok thanks for help, I will be getting one soon for this winter. I'm thinking the portable one, or the smaller flat one should work best for my van I got. Idling it uses a lot of fuel at night but it seems safe enough to try this.

    The tank is above the burner…Do we even need a fuel pump? Gravity should feed the burner…or am I wrong and is there some sort of injector that needs pressure in there?

    • @ChasingtheKraken
      @ChasingtheKraken  Месяц назад +1

      That's a good point but the unit has 10 levels of power so without a pump to regulate that amount you would just be stuck with on off wouldn't you?

    • @gangiolini6201
      @gangiolini6201 Месяц назад

      @ so you say that’s how the unit regulates the output? I don’t have one to look at it but it make sense…I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth buying…Lots of people complain about the clicking noise so I was wondering why it’s been engineered that way…I guess modulating the fuel pump is cheaper and simpler than modulating the firing sequence of an injector…Thanks for your comment 👍

    • @ChasingtheKraken
      @ChasingtheKraken  Месяц назад +1

      @gangiolini6201 thanks for the question. I really enjoy mine. The pump clicks because it sends fuel in pulses. My friend has a silent pump that doesn't click at all. The positives outweighs the negatives for sure. Outside placement or even a simple blanket over the unit makes it pretty much silent for the user as long as you are careful

  • @Acce533

      Very cool, thanks. That is actually the "better" fuel line from Amazon compared to the soft green crap that it came with. But I will definitely look into some better alternatives. I assume you mean the ticker black rubber line? Thanks

    EASIEST WAY TO QUIET THE PUMP,,,,, hang the damn thing from a string and u will get a tiny click- when attached to something the whole thing becomes an amplifier--- instead of a string a rubber band or something that wont conduct the sound would be even better a string is good- and its cheap

      The only time mine smokes is when the battery is almost dead. These are designed to get the current needed for the glow plug, on initial start-up, from a vehicles electric system. If you try to start with a small, or undercharged, battery it will blow smoke like h**l.

    • @ChasingtheKraken
      @ChasingtheKraken  2 месяца назад

      @kelleysimonds5945 that's really great information actually. I've been tempted to see how small of a drill battery or something I could use but there's no real point as I have a larger lithium anyway. But great to know that's one cause of smoke
