Just started playing with the R1.16 and I absolutely love it. I play with a lot of spin and thanks to the Pickleball Studio for the spin spreadsheet because it helped me to find the VERY BEST paddle for the money. If the Pulsar is as good as everyone says, then I may switch to that one day but for now I love the R1.16!
You still have a lot of spin after playing? I play super spinny as well and got a vatic pro Flash 14 but the extreme spin wore off after just two weeks of every day play. Returning it and moving to ronbus 1.16
@@fatboi7245 I heard some say that it takes a couple of weeks to "break in" for max grip/spin and now you're saying after a few weeks the grip/spin wears off? which is it?!
I’ve had the r3p since May. Seems to be losing spin. I clean it prior to playing every time. Anyone else losing spin after a few months? Might just be me.
It was more interactive, funnier and felt like more watchable than the rote reviews - really brings the play to life for a paddle and makes it easier to imagine playing with one. I would love a paddle bc I need the softer control and lighter swing weight so I can become 3.5 at best!
Thanks for your review of these paddles. I like your new format :) I got started on pickleball about three years ago. When COVID hit, everything came to a halt. I got back into it back in the fall and love playing about 3-4 times each week. I bought pretty good paddles back when I first started but with a few years and the large advances in paddle technology it is pushing me to move to replace what I have so I can bring my level of play up. The Ronbus R1 Pulsar looks to be a good fit for my type of play. I’ve also been eyeing the Double Black Diamond but, with your review, I’m now leaning more towards the Ronbus. Hopefully I can get my hands on one soon!
Loved the new style of video. Very cool seeing your real time thoughts as it's happening. I really enjoy my *updated handle* R1 but miss having my "legacy" style power. I find myself switching back and forth depending on who I'm playing with. So the R1 Pulsar sounds like it's right up my alley. I've been subscribed to the newsletter for a few months already 😅
I enjoyed your new real time format paddle review. Your information is always relevant, cogent and understandable for most pickleball enthusiast. As a pickleball geezer these paddles offer an equalizer and even an edge especially when dealing with the oncoming young aggressive players. It's like the old adage," Gawd didn't make all players equal, thermo-formed and foam-edge paddle did". This one and other seniors need all the help we can get! Sometimes you have to join the bangers to defeat the bangers and stop bringing a tooth pick to a stick fight!
I've been using the R3P for a few weeks now and in love with it. my first intro to Ronbus was the R3 off of PB Studio recommendations and loved it. Got one for my wife but it's a little on the heavy side for her. I've been thinking about getting her an R1P so we can continue being a Ronbus family!
Your video series, more than anyone elses’on RUclips, has helped me relate paddle performance to my lifelong competitive tennis experience. I’m 73, new to pickeball and very analytical. You convey technical information in an uncomplicated, dense and rich, easy to understand manner. Now (finally) I am confident that I understand - and know what will work best for me. Thank you! GT
You always have a very informative video. I am a Veteran who just started playing Pickleball 9 months ago and has been enjoying this popular sport. I would love to have this paddle in my bag. Keep pickling!
Thank you for your time and posting. Either format is fine, whichever one you enjoy most as that one will come across to us as a more enjoyable video. :) Just bought the Legacy Pro (the paddle is really good but I bought it because IMO, the company seems to care about it's customers and you have to support these kinds of people as there are very few) and want to try out a few more paddles. I'm retired, live on VA disability & SS so winning a new paddle enables me save a few dollars. Thank you again. :)
R1 Pulsar is one of the best feeling thermos I’ve hit and I own CRBNs and Vatics. I also had the R3 Pulsar and it felt great too but for some reason the ball marks wouldn’t come off the R3. I love my R1 Pulsar.
Great video! The R1 sounds fantastic. My pickleball partner's name is Ron so I would love the opportunity to gift him a Ronbus. He has been talking about this paddle for weeks and would be thrilled (heavy breathing) if I showed up with a Ronbus for him one day.
Great new review format and what a place to place Pickleball and chill! Would love to have an R1 in my hands. Also, Kudos on the Zane video. Awesome production quality.
Broke my arm and underwent a surgery recently leaving me with a long drawn out rehab journey. However I can't get myself to stay off the courts, so I have switched to playing with my non-dominant arm and seeking every bit of added power I can get. Been loving the Ronbus R1.16 and R1 Pulsar would be the perfect paddle IMO. Dong's amazing customer service, transparency and creativity has made me a Ronbus customer for a long time to come! Loving all the content you create. Keep it going!
Liked the new format! Getting the “in the moment” reactions is super telling. Also felt it was easier to gauge comparing similar paddles when you test them one after another.
Really like the new format for paddle testing. Your content is some of the best information on RUclips. I have a R3 and absolutely love it. As good as the R3 is, I would like to play the Pulsar R1. It sounds even better! Your video sold me!
Love the new format. Much more personal and what we all want to see if we can't actually demo a paddle ourselves. Putting context about your preferences is good too, as some people might like different things (like heavier swing weights).
I just tried the R3 today and loved it. I was able to hit better with my back hand from the back of the court. I felt I had quicker hands at the net too. The control was amazing and felt easy to place my drop shots as well. It’d be awesome to win a paddle because it’s been several years since I’ve upgraded. Thanks for the review RUclips. It was very informative. Looking forward to learning more about the paddle and it’s outcome :)
Finally got a chance to play with a R1P. It definitely feel softer, more controllable and maybe more spin vs my Vatic Flash 16 while feeling less powerful. Not a fan of the handle design. The handle has a square shape while the Vatic has a rectangular shape which fits my hands better.
I've been looking to replace my newbie fiberglass paddle and it's your content that has me excited about Ronbus in the first place. I'd love a chance to play with an R1. Keep up the great work!
Great video! I like both formats, this one was less formal but still conveyed the information well. I've had my eye on Ronbus for a minute and while it's not quite in the budget right now, if I win the draw, I could afford free 😏 No matter who wins though, we are all winners because of this great content, thanks Chris!
I have been following you guys for awhile now and look forward to each new show. Ok, so maybe I'm a bit obsessed with new paddle technology. I think it is so cool that the sport and its industry/technology is changing so rapidly and maybe significantly. I have had my Legacy Pro for about two months now and am just beginning to be able to reign in its tendency to hit long but otherwise love it. I have noticed that at least in the circles I travel in there are very few of the new generation thermoformed paddles out there. I'm am very interested in these new ones, specifically the Ronbus, Filth, Double Black Diamond, Slice and even the Pro Drive. I wish I was in a position to try/own all of them, and thus be able to offer them and my reccommendations about them to my PB buddies! BTW I do like the look and content of the new on court format. It gives one an idea of just how these paddles hit ( and sound). Also I feel like you secretly (or maybe obviously) wanted everyone out here to know that you are definitely at least a 4.0-4.5. Ha!
Great looking paddles. I like the game play and on court comments. Also like the vertical spinning paddle display and back to back comparisons for shape.
Yes, this format definitely works for me. Still covers all the bases but fun to watch you all play (and dream about owning a facility like that some day 😮). I’ve been gassing for the R1P since another paddle hound in town for the R3P and couldn’t wait to get out and play with it again. Really curious how the Legacy S compares which another local has on order. So yeah, will be doing a side-by-side comparison. So why me? I live in a University town and am constantly opening my bag to the students who show up with starter sets. They can pick any paddle to use that day no matter the cost or age of the paddle.
I’m looking to get more into carbon face surfaces after exclusively using the Franklin Ben Johns paddles for like two years now (even after he left Franklin, I kept buying them). I tried out my friend’s SLK Halo and I liked it, but I want to see more of what these newer generation paddles have to offer. Ronbus sounds like a great company for paddles and I would love to try out the R1. Thanks for your videos. They are definitely a highlight of my day when I get to watch them.
Love the new format and how it was more interactive with game play! It really illustrated how the paddle plays in a real situation and your friends seem like they are both really good and a joy to hit/play with. My Pickleball journey began just last November and it wasn't long until I got addicted. Currently, I play every Friday and Saturday morning in open play. Eventually, I want to start doing tournaments and earning my right to play with higher level groups. Like you, I prefer a lower swingweight and a quicker paddle and would like to enter into the free giveaway for an R1! Thank you for all of your content creation and for keeping us updated on the happenings in the world of Pickleball! Winning a new pickleball paddle from you would be a thrilling opportunity for me. As an avid pickleball player, I understand the significant impact that a high-quality paddle can have on my game. A new paddle would not only enhance my performance but also elevate my overall experience on the court. Additionally, winning a new paddle would serve as a source of motivation and encouragement, inspiring me to dedicate even more time and effort to the sport I love. It would be a fantastic boost to my pickleball journey and an incredible reward for my dedication and passion. Also I recently lost to a rec guy who was using Ronbus R 1.16.. lol. So now I got to have it,
Thank You Chris for you insight and great reviews. I am searching for a new paddle and leaning towards one from Ronbus, so I enjoy you dissecting the differences.
Thanks for the first look. I really enjoyed this review and your past reviews. I like the fact that you are reviewing from an unsponsored point of view.
I don't like to change out my paddles too often and one of the draws of these Pulsars seems to be their durability. That is a big plus for me. Thank you!
Hey Chris! I love the format! It's great to see you play. :). Got the Ronbus R1, 5.5" handle and like it so far, but still lacking two handed backhand power. If anyone is interested, mine weighs 7.9oz out of the box.
It was great to see you use the paddles “live” or snippets of you playing with it and then giving your take on it right on the spot afterwards. It was great to see you compare it to other similar paddles too. Great video with the new format! Awesome!
This new format is great! My favorite pickleball channel by a mile. With mother's day around the corner, I think my mom would love to have an Ronbus R1. She's been using a Gearbox CX11e Power, but needs a bigger sweet spot, and I think the Ronbus R1 would be a great fit. Love the content, keep up the great work!
Pickleball studio and your way of explaining game nuances helped me take my pickleball game up. Started to play in 2022 winters and quickly picked up to be somewhere between 3.5 and 4. I have started to be in love with pickleball and as of now it has become my favorite racket sport. The paddle would help me by not needing to save for another year to get a good paddle. I have signed up for newsletter
Definitely looking to upgrade my paddle to a rcf one, and watching your videos explaining each brand has been super helpful! Would love to try this one out.
I just started playing pickleball a few months ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. I’ve always been a tech/equipment nerd and always enjoy watching reviews. You were where I learned a lot and I’m right at the point of needing to upgrade my paddle! Love the vids!
Love this format! It's so unrehearsed and genuine! I love listening to you and Will talk about paddles. It's always informative and makes me tempted to get a thermoformed paddles. I think the R1 would be more ideal for me seeing as I need more control. I've been using a Ben John's signature Franklin but with all of the reviews, I can't figure out what I want. The R1 definitely looks lien it can fit my game. Much love and appreciation for all of your content. Don't care what they say but PBstudios podcast is the best. Those pros don't know the 3.5 at best life style.
You are so right. What a sweet spot to have access to. Like the new format. You are the best. Would like to see you review the Cheetah AF/CF 16mm. I'm lovin mine. Would love to add the Ronbus to my quiver of paddles.
Really liked the new format! Made for a fun and entertaining watch. Would love to own an R1 Pulsar. I've had a Legacy Pro for about 5 months now, and am starting to realize that that paddle is much too powerful for me. I think the R1 Pulsar would greatly help my soft game.
Loved the review. I'm newer to pickleball but caught the bug fast and have been playing around 5 times a week for the past 5 months. I began using a cheap wooden paddle that lasted a week before moving into a Babolat Rbel Touch (which I loved). Unfortunately, my Babolat snapped at the handle yesterday which brought me to your page. After going down a rabbit hole and watching almost all of your videos I'm convinced that now is the time to make the jump to a raw carbon paddle and would love to give the R.1 a go. Keep up the great work.
Great review, trying to decide when to jump to a thermoformed paddle from my Joola Vision, and what to get. Winning an R1 Pulsar would be an awesome way to get me started!
Love the reviews, I watch your reviews before buying any paddle. It's time for an upgrade on my Engage EX, and Carbon fiber is my #1 choice. Now I want the Ronbus R1!!
The new format works well! Getting to see your actual first reactions in between watching you actually hitting with the paddle feels more interactive and engaging, as if we’re with you. It would be awesome to get a chance to play with both of these paddles one day! Thanks for the great content, Chris!
Liked the new format but also like your original format. Currently using a model E that is a year old. Loved the paddle but feel lack of power and slower hand speed at NVZ. Definitely would like to try the R1 Pulsar.
I liked the new format. I have noticed with the old paddle reviews there we times I would zone out on what you were saying and instead watch the point play out. Not sure if that makes me a pickleball nerd or I have ADD, heck, maybe both! And I should get one of these paddles because between me and my son we are up to about 13 paddles now, and I would like to compare it to my Legacy Pro and his Volair.
Liked the new format and anxiously waiting for 5/15 to order a R1 Pulsar. I enjoyed the R1.16 but was willing to give up a little control for a little more pop with my Vatic F16. Hoping the R1 Pulsar will be have the same control as the R1.16 with more pop like the F16
I have two R1.16 paddles & absolutely love them. I'm itchty to try the Pulsar, but also nervous about jumping into the thermoformed waters. Great review though, always love your content.
I've been using my Gearbox CX 14 elongated since it came out...I'm so used to it I have been afraid to go back to a traditional style paddle. The Gearbox is stiff like a board and your comment on this paddle (the R1 Pulsar) being stiff may be a good transition and to see maybe how this would change my game. I've tried out a couple of my fellow players thermoformed paddles but they felt soft, heavy, and slow. Format of this review was a nice change of pace...nice vids and reviews all around!
Great vid Chris. Have you tried the DBD vs the Vatic Flash 16mm? They're the exact same shape and thickness, just different feeling faces. Anyway, wouldn't mind getting one of the R1s to try out. 👍🏻
Thanks for the review Chris. I just started a 12 team, 72 member summer pickleball league in my city, the first of its kind. Not making a dime off the members so this paddle would feel like a gift 😀
Been playing for less than a couple of years and I'm not really much of a paddle changer. I like knowing what to expect from my paddle so I appreciate one that plays consistently. Played with a borrowed paddle for my first few months and have been playing with an Engage MX for the past year. Recently got to try a CRBN X1 and thought it would be an easy transition from my MX. Would like to see how a Ronbus would compare. Have enjoyed your videos, very informative and entertaining.
Love the new venue for paddle testing and the filming format is excellent. I'd love an R1 because it sounds like the kind of paddle that would help my game.
Really enjoy the new format. All your videos are very informative! I would appreciate owning and playing with a Ronbus paddle. The R1 Pulsar would greatly help my game.
It is nice to have first impressions and then a follow-up. Sure would like to have that paddle! Just started playing pickleball last week and am borrowing a paddle at the moment.
I always appreciate the objective and thorough reviews of each product. I am like you and prefer a low swing weight paddle. I plan to buy a new paddle but just don’t know if this, a power air or black Diamond would suit me best.
I enjoyed this first look. After seeing several reviews and the nice price point, I bought a R1.16 a few weeks ago. I probably would've waited if I had known Ronbus was dropping the R1 pulsar. I'm happy with the gen 1 paddle but would love to get my hands on a thermoformed paddle as well!
Im excited to try out this paddle. Tried switching to a crbn paddle for more power but it was a little hard for me to control my drives and drops. Can't wait to see if I have more luck with this paddle! Also. Love the new format!!!! Good job! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the review. Would LOVE to try out a Pulsar R1! I have ordered a R1.16 and can’t wait to try it out as well. I know quite a few players that would love to demo one too.
Awesome job with the first look! Somewhat new to pickleball, only been playing for about 4-5 months now and would love a chance at one of the new thermoformed RCF paddles
I think it's great to switch up on formats as it keeps people engaged. I've been trying out demo paddles to find one that suits, and the light swing weight of the Ronbus is something that's important to me. Thank you for all your paddle reviews!
Great format!!! Love the comparison to similar paddles like the CRBN 1X. I've tried the Legacy Pro and within the first two weeks had the edge guard loosen. Would love to try the Ronbus paddle.
Awsome video and comparison of both the R1 -n- R3. Liked the comments made to describe both paddles and I would prefer the R3 for better control and decent “pop” off the surface. Can’t wait baby 👍
Fun new format Chris. Leave it to Dong at Ronbus to do right for his customers. I bought the first gen R3.16 off of your review of the Andiamo, and totally love it. Wouldn't mind being in the drawing for the thermoformed version
Love your channel and paddle reviews. Straight forward and easy to follow. I’m an intermediate player that’s been playing a year or so with a entry level paddle. Would love to up my game with a new Rombus pulsar. Keep up the great work!
Let me know what you guys thought of the new format! I really enjoyed making this one.
I meant to reply to this comment, but it’s down there 👇🏽
Like the new format, it's engaging watching the play as you provide feedback. BTW, that's a pretty sweet venue you were playing at.
Very nice format! More LIVE feeling
This is a big time upgrade in format and presentation imo. Was good before, but this is better.
Love it and would also love a new paddle 😏

I second the Zane doc comment. I really enjoyed it.
I've got a full month of heavy use on my R1 Pulsar and it still feels/plays like day 1. Love this paddle.
Can you clean the ball marks off the R1 face pretty easily?
@@scottfrancis13 about the same as any other "raw" CF faced paddle using a sanding belt cleaner.

Thanks for reviewing this paddle. I'm still waiting for Joola Perseus before I change my paddle (again...)
Thanks for the first look. I really enjoyed this review and your past reviews. I like the fact that you are reviewing from an unsponsored point of view.
I don't like to change out my paddles too often and one of the draws of these Pulsars seems to be their durability. That is a big plus for me. Thank you!
Love the new format. I noticed the R3 is slightly taller than the R1. You guys are all very good players.
I believe you can get the R1 in a 5.5 inch handle so same length as the R3
Love how this paddle looks and also a big fan of lower swing weight paddles!
Hey Chris! I love the format! It's great to see you play. :). Got the Ronbus R1, 5.5" handle and like it so far, but still lacking two handed backhand power. If anyone is interested, mine weighs 7.9oz out of the box.
How long after you placed the order did it take for you to receive it?
@@chaston3002 pretty quickly, something like three or four days
Great explanation of the different paddles. I'm looking to upgrade mine.
Thanks for posting swing weights. I think a lot folks dont realize how important it is when it comes to hand fights
Currently have a R1-16
Great analysis on both paddles
I think my game is very similar to yours. So I will order the R1 Pulsar. Thanks.
You are so right. What a sweet spot to have access to. Like the new format. You are the best. Would like to see you review the Cheetah AF/CF 16mm. I'm lovin mine. Would love to add the Ronbus to my quiver of paddles.
Nice first look, especially with the comparison to the CRBN.
Will you compare the Ronbus Pulsar and the Vatic Pro flash 14mm?
Really liked the new format! Made for a fun and entertaining watch.
Would love to own an R1 Pulsar. I've had a Legacy Pro for about 5 months now, and am starting to realize that that paddle is much too powerful for me. I think the R1 Pulsar would greatly help my soft game.
Best thermo Ive hit the R1 Pulsar
Much more enjoyable to watch - with the same great information and evaluation of the paddles.......
Love the new format. Your videos are always packed with great information.
Great balanced review! I've been deciding between the Ronbus, Six Zero and Vatic Flash so thanks for your observations
Love the new format of your video. Excited to try this paddle
That’s an awesome facility to play in. Really enjoyed the live first impressions style video. Keep up the great work!
Love your videos Chris! I try to share them whenever I find them useful for others.
I have two R1.16 paddles & absolutely love them. I'm itchty to try the Pulsar, but also nervous about jumping into the thermoformed waters. Great review though, always love your content.
Keep up the great work. Need a Ronbus, new to the sport and playing with wood paddles
I am in the market for new paddles. Your review has been guiding me to make my choices. If i can get the R1, this will make my day!
I like your new format--I'm ready to try a thermoformed paddle, so the Ronbus R3 would be perfect.
Great vid Chris. Have you tried the DBD vs the Vatic Flash 16mm? They're the exact same shape and thickness, just different feeling faces. Anyway, wouldn't mind getting one of the R1s to try out. 👍🏻
I like my DBD more, but the Flash is a really good paddle
Thanks for the review Chris.
I just started a 12 team, 72 member summer pickleball league in my city, the first of its kind. Not making a dime off the members so this paddle would feel like a gift 😀
Excellent format. Good info on a quick format. Thank you for offering discount codes. Used it for my Double Black Diamond
New format is great, I have pro kennex now and would like to try thermo formed paddles.
Great content as always! Really enjoy the new format. The R1 sounds right up my alley!
Sick home Gym!
I just ordered the R3, would love an R1 to try!
New video format is awesome! R1 sounds like an awesome doubles paddle.
The R1 sounds like something I would be interested in trying. I’m looking for a bit more pop than I am getting from my Joola Hyperion.
