- This is my simple recipe for crab cakes
Recipe
1# lump crab
1 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped celery
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1 tablespoon whorshire sauce
1 cup mayonnaise
2 ea egg white
Salt and pepper to taste
cavender greek seasoning to taste
Mix slowly all ingredients together in bowl
Place in fridge for 30 minutes (i use an ice cream scoop)
Remove from fridge and make into cakes
Dust with flour and brown in skillet with vegetable oil until golden brown
Enjoy with cocktail sauce

Good morning, Chef!! I’m a Maryland girl. I always use jumbo lump for crab cakes. Make a dressing & fold the crab into it. Always add old bay, eggs, mustard, Hellman’s & panko bread crumbs. Broil. The Best!! Looks great!

I don't add anything except the ingredients you show. Something about fillers and veggies that take away from the taste of solid crab. Maybe just a Maryland thing but I love it. And yes broiling is the way to go.
The blue crab speaks for itself so no much else is needed! I see all kinds of recipes for crab cakes but there’s Nothing like a Maryland Crab Cake!!! 🦀🦀

In all my nearly 70 years, I never made crab cakes.. I have certainly eaten a bunch... with your instruction, it looks easy. I might just have to try em out👍. I agree about using real crab meat, not that modified whitefish that is altered to resemble crab. Real crab has such a wonderful flavor.

Beautiful! I will try your recipe. I've been making tuna cakes with white tuna. That's really good, believe it or not. I use albacore tuna, butter crackers, Italian panko to coat them, eggs, yellow mustard, lemon juice, lemon pepper & dill. Fry them in olive oil & butter. Yum! My children like them.

I love your idea of just using egg whites… xoxoxox brilliant makes them lighter while still holding them together and you don’t need to be fussy and whip the egg whites nor do you need to be fussy and get the jumbo lump crab meat which I always felt obligated to do it’s not necessary where are used to live jumbo loan for $75 a can absurd waste of money but of course if you go to New Orleans and order a crabcake dinner you’re paying 35 Dollars just for a single crabcake that was five years ago I would be afraid to even venture to guess what they are now in this economy fabulous recipe can’t wait to try them and eat them big huge gigantic love

Great Friday Morning Chef Jeffrey since I live in VA and that far from the Chesapeake Bay with blue crabs dishes our way of life. We used to bushels at a time and cook them so we can get the crab meat. But I guess I've got bougie because I'll just buy it by the pound is cheaper than out there go get them live or already steamed

At the age of 14 worked in a seafood restaurant and this German family owned and operated this restaurant and he knew how to fix that crab cake so I was spoiled by his crab cakes nice and light and flakey

My specialty in seafood is lobster 🦞 and Shrimp 🍤. The real crab is expensive but if I make it I would prefer the REAL crab meat. I'm counting down the days when I go to Maine!!! I know it was good. We have another grade on the east coast called Backfin or Select. It’s a grade above the claw. My mom used to work in a crab packing factory and she could open and pack sometimes 60 lbs of crab meat per day. She taught me how years ago and I’m still able to open that crab and pick every piece of meat out of it 😂
