Honestly, as long as the U.S. remains involved in Syria, the prospect of peace seems distant. The primary objective of the U.S. and Israel appears to be weakening any efforts toward peace and stability in Syria, as they perceive the country as a threat to Israel. However, if the Syrian people can come together in unity, it would be a positive step forward and great news for the nation.
I think that is a presumptuous statement because from what we seen at least in the case of the US their main goal is to eliminate isis from regaining a foot hold in the country. I have seen nothing to alter that perspective. This spokesperson Mustafa also did not say otherwise. As for Israel, I haven't seen any source that has enough evidence to say what their intentions are. The IDF has been busy destroying weapons in Syria that used to be under control of Assad's regime because they don't want it falling into the hands of a party that might threaten Israel. It's too early to draw conclusions of how any of this will play out.
Iranian imperialism resulted in the deaths of their people for over a decade. Israel took some abandoned territory in the Golan Heights and destroyed a bunch of missile launchers and planes that the new Syrian government couldnt even use. Israel is not the main enemy of the new Syria. It is still Iran and Russia
Didn't you know that Israel helped the rebels by bombing Hezbollah and Iranian forces in Syria that helped Assad? Turkey is also an ally of the rebels but they let Turkey invade 1.6 square miles of territory.
Turkey wants Palestinian state but not Kurdish state They want to eliminate Kurdish forces because they don't want terrorists around it's borders but they criticize Israel for doing the same to hamas 😂
Ahmed al-Sharaa was not elected, and his interim government does not control all of Syria. Even ISIS still controls some regions. Calling him the “Leader of Syria” is premature. The civil war is not over yet.

I'm so hopeful for Syria! Stay strong and don't mess up this opportunity. Hopefully the lessons learned in the past two decades is that Syria is for Syrians, if you let your divisions guide you, the predators like Russia or Iran will exploit it to their advantage.
The Kurds will only settle for either a high level of autonomy or independence, so if Damascus wants to buy them into a new Syria they will need to keep that in mind.

I believe Rump doesn't care about the Kurd Syrians, he's friends with Erdogan I would say.
Don't worry, the world's most stable genius that know everything in the entire world will end all wars within 24 hours ./S
unless the Kurds pay Trump in gold they are going to get screwed.
There is no power in the world that can make Turkey do something it does not want.
stop calling him a leader
He led a number of people/freedom fighters to achieve a common goal. Is that not the definition of a leader?
Why america can’t simply give some land in unite states so kurds can finally be free.
It's all about money. These guys have not jobs
Israel invades your country and all you end up talking about is Iranian imperialism. What a shame this man must be for his kin and kind, and for what?
Sounds like they were welcomed in
Iranian imperialism resulted in the deaths of their people for over a decade.
Let's hope there will be peace in Syria and everywhere in the world!
Q: Which factions exactly have united?
A: Various ones have united, liberal and conservative.
Not useful...
🌈Kurdish INDEPENDENT HOMELAND as self determination is essential for any nation
The Western world seems united in best wishes for Syrian people.
This war will continue for ever!
*Lets hope not.*
Simply he is bulshiting.
SDF must ally with the ruling HTS to survive. less autonomy but with chance to survive.
Hows Christmas celebration going in Syria?
Turkey wants Palestinian state but not Kurdish state
They want to eliminate Kurdish forces because they don't want terrorists around it's borders but they criticize Israel for doing the same to hamas 😂
Damascus it turkey lead the government and what's your talking about it same fight to turkey
when this puppet knotted his tie, Zelensky died
[2:36] "with the sole role to defeat ISIS" my a$$ 😂😂😂
Ahmed al Sharaa is the leader of Syria not a rebel leader. Please correct ur narrative
Ahmed al-Sharaa was not elected, and his interim government does not control all of Syria. Even ISIS still controls some regions. Calling him the “Leader of Syria” is premature.
The civil war is not over yet.
Not yet. al Sharaa is still not the leader of Syria. It will be decided by all the people of Syria from all Syrian factions in March 2025 through elections.
Why they make elections in Syria?
@@thejohannreinshow2497 Turkey is the Leader of Syria.

Someone is going to cry...Based on the script from time immemorial.
Ummah! Ummah will be so disappointed!!!
Why DW news speaking someone in Washington . Can they not find anyone in the Syria
Kurds need Iraqi type autonomy or independence but Turkey needs to get the heck out. Israel and the Kurds need to work together.
Keep dreaming 😂
03:01 - Insanely dishonest of the man being interviewed to claim that Kurdish-led SDF has not reached out to Damascus to negotiate.
They've reached out to Damascus over and over again, but Damascus, and Ex-Al-Qaeda led HTS has been ignoring them, hoping for Turkish backed ISIS terrorists to win or severely weaken the Kurds.
These factions will come together. Its the west thats creating devisions.
Hoping for the best for Syria! 🙏
Stop calling legitimate leader Ahmad Sharaa as rebel leader.
Have some respect DW😊
As if the Sunnis were going to be willing to submit to Kurdish rule if the Kurds took Damascus
Divide Syria according to its belief.
The whole point is to establish a greater Israel, but this seems impossible with Türkiye.
1 Syria 1 nation
I'm so hopeful for Syria! Stay strong and don't mess up this opportunity. Hopefully the lessons learned in the past two decades is that Syria is for Syrians, if you let your divisions guide you, the predators like Russia or Iran will exploit it to their advantage.
Turkey is the major predator right now
There'll definitely loose.
Kurds will I agree!
The Kurds will only settle for either a high level of autonomy or independence, so if Damascus wants to buy them into a new Syria they will need to keep that in mind.
No room for pkk and pyd in the future of Syria..
They will always be there! Kurds are over 30 million in population!
yes@@IsabellaCastile-y8y
so Turk don't have right talk and make decision for other nation
Pyd can have a kurdish province in canada
Why he mentioned germany?
Because DW News is German
This isn't going to go as as this dude thinks.
civil war risk 2,5K km southeast of Berlin. DW: lets ask some expert from the US about it. expert says: the new government of syria, which used to be ISIS, needs to be asked by the kurds for a deal.
God bless Syria and Peace to its people 🙏🙏
Not a rebel leader, the real leader of Syria, get over it already!!!!!!!
No tolerance for Commies apparently, Kurds or otherwise.
They should give up on Kurdistan and join the new Syrian government. Even if they deserve autonomy, it's not worth dying for some far-fetched dream.
From battle gear to a suit&tie looks official
Rojava will be established as an autonomous region of Kurdistan, governed by Kurds.
A united Syria is not good to Israel 😪
There is a reason why Israel is so loved. Globally and historically.
I think you're sorely mistaken. A united Syria by, from and for the people might bring peace and prosperity to their nation. I think most Syrians aren't ready to start another war.
Free Kurdistan ❤🎉
Reality is back after the party
Let the Syrian live peacefully. US & Turki shold leave Syria.
Absolutely not... Jesus... if turkey leaves, Israel will 100% invade Syria.
The cause and foundation of the problem is italy and France Paris,Rome,Napolitano,Napoli,America, Rome,Taranto,Torino,Sardegna?,??
The 100M Kurds in Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran should unite have their own country!
It’s Turkiye, not turkey
nope we can call it whatever we want. Its our language.
İt's turkey🦃 you understand?
For all those who are worried about them to have their own country, Montana is I nice place for them to build Kurdistan!
Over 30 million Kurds live in the region. They will have their land eventually!
Turkey is powerless!

Who ever be the new govt in syria by 2025 must respect the laws of democracy to bring back syria in its old glory unite all citizen what ever their beliefs the govt should be mix of all these tribes.
Great guy. I’d like to see a little trim of the beard.
DW doing what DW always do again. As much as you want to impose a rhetoric, there is no conflict between Turks and Kurds. Türkiye, as a state, fighting against terrorist organization PKK and you know this very well. Calling them the "Kurds" doesn't change the fact that they don't represent or given authority by them. I want to hear your honest opinion about Israel's one sided war in Palestine though. How do you call Israel's enemies? Hamas, jihadists or Palestinians?
@@Runo1923 What a clownish take
@element4element4 yeah, my guy keep consuming DW all day. Reality hits differently.
Türkiye is against Kurdish identity, their language, their culture, their names, town names, street names, mountain names, river names...and their peaceful representatives are in jails. Stop playing terrorist cards, it may convince you because you are brain washed.
Free Palestine
🤣🤣🤣
Better leave Kurdish alone don't forget iran can easy be friends with kurds
Are Syrians going to have free elections?
These kurds are not a part of Syria (except kurds that Syria origin). The demographic map suppose to be like 2011. The best place for kurdistan is Central of Germany, Bavyera, Munih, Frankurt. We support Kurds who want to establish a state in Germany.
😂😂😂
The Kurds will have their land in southern Turkey eventually. Nothing will stop 30 million Kurds.
@@IsabellaCastile-y8y There are nearly 20 million Kurds in Turkiye, and more than half of them are born of Turkish-Kurdish marriages. They see themselves as Turks of Kurdish origin. The other half are assimilated and are loyal to Turkiye.
They have a bigger right to Kurdistan than the Palestinians to a Palestine.
Ok, "Jeff"....terko

Partiality: Not Kurdish-backed vs turkish backed. It is US backed vs Turkey backed.
Well first SDF should retreat from the areas that are not Kurdish, and then make a deal with Damascus
First Turkey must retreat... Only then any negotiations will bear fruit....
@Samayil_2024 if all factions of Syria unite under Damascus then who's stopping Turkey and Damascus to jointly take action against them? It's the SDF who needs to compromise
We can make a deal, whole northern Mesopotamia is autochthonous Indo-European peoples lands. Always was.
Afro Semitic Syrian people can unite with Afro Semitic Lebanon-> then they can call their lands Arab republic
ASia(N) is the ancient Indo-European Hellenic term for autochthonous Indo-European West Asian IraniC word & people.
As well as Asian Minor (-> Anatolia) /Northern Mesopotamia and CavcAsia (-> Zagros/Pontus ). CavcAsia literally means in Indo-European mountainous Asia(n)Kurd (KurManc Khord/ Sorani Khord) are Northwest IraniC Indo-European people and always live in West Asia. It’s written in “Greek”(Roman name), in Roman and any other ancient mythology. It’s very easy to prove.
PIE originates in the Indo-European West Asian Near Eastern part of Indo-European West Asia, not the Indo-European West Asian European part.
Indio-European Europe is not a continent of its own- but it’s instead geographically, genetically, linguistically and culturally the most western part of Indo-European West Asia. The other part of Indo-European West Asia is the Indo-European Near East (Anatolia/Northern Mesopotamia and Caucasia (Zagros/Pontus up to Afghanistan/Iran borders).
The Middle East = North Africa + Horn of Africa + Southern part of Southwest Asian peninsula = Afro (Southwest) Asiatic people/areas started from the oldest one in North African, spreading to the Horn of Africa but also to the southern part of the Southwest Asian peninsula up to Southern Mesopotamia where the Afro Semitic live.
