Japan is the epitome of a high-trust, high-diligence society. China, the UK, and the US all have a thing or two to admire and learn from Japan in this regard.
25 years in Japan - I will never move back to the UK. When I go to visit family and friends, I'm there for 3 or 4 days, and can't wait to get back here! The UK is not the same country I left behind.
@@JackBlack-ii1ip partly that, but just seeing how much everything has changed, especially with mass immigration. Obviously I'm not against immigration (being an immigrant in Japan, myself), but places I used to frequent - some have signs saying "No English People Allowed" - I mean, WTF! And just seeing how crime has gone through the roof and the serious joke that British justice and policing has become, I don't recognize the land I left.
The work ethic in the UK has been killed by low wages high taxes and high property prices. We have a huge hoard of fit people in our hotels who should be put to work to keep the country clean and earn their keep. When Honda opened a factory in the north of England they were astonished at the flexibility and willingness to work from the British workers.
Some decades ago the US government studied the Japanese education sector to see what they could find. The conclusion roughly was that there was plenty to impress them but the lessons could not be implemented because the societies were so different. You can’t transplant a culture.
Take your point regarding the lack of spontaneity in Japanese TV drama. Except for the pro-wresting, which is the best acting on television. I once ran into Antoni Inoki at acupuncture clinic, took me a while to work out why he wanted to shake my hand. "I didn't recognise you with your clothes on." Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
Japan hasn't imported mass immigration and Japan is still Japan which can't be said for the Western countries like Britain that is no longer Britain but in name only.

Refreshing on RUclips to find someone who delivers their points clearly and concisely - no unnecessary waffle
high trust society. The UK used to be more that way. Doesn't seem that many people share traditional British values in the UK any more
Sadly good manners has evaporated in England, especially London 😢.

What Britain could have been with a different political direction.
Its too late for Britain and the damage by mass immigration is already done and no going back to the Britain that once was.
I should add that was my reaction when I visited Tokyo last year. I certainly intend to return to Japan.
