I'm a teacher in the UK and I've noticed the children I teach are so miserable, some of them don't even say hello or smile. They have a poor work ethic also. It's weird. People are weird... And my theory behind it is heavy use of technology, no patience and extreme entitlement.
It is so sad too. I tend to agree with you and feel that children pick upon what is going on at home and what their parents are like as role models. Teachers have also been demoralised too resulting in quite high staff turnover.
Yeah it's phones. Not your fault but the school system is a 12 year indoctrination camp where they learn absolutely nothing of importance. The system is designed that way.

Sounds like you are talking about Canada. Exactly the same here. I'm a unionized civil servant and haven't had a raise in 11 years but prices of everything have nearly doubled in that time.
@LordAsney Feels like the country's just getting older on average, there are just masses of baby boomers compared to other demographics and they're all firmly in or past the menopausal/grumpy old man point now, combine it with a poor understanding of how social media works, constant outrage porn being fed to them and generally a stripping back of services, you get this kind of perverse persecution complex type thing where they think everyone is trying to get one over on them, which turns into "so I'll get one over on them first!". I work in a hospital, a decade ago it was more people born pre 1940 and the difference in behaviour and attitude between them and the postwar folk we see now is huge.
Some people have always been like this. I often chat to people in queues and they seem reasonably ok to me. Things are tough right now for a lot of people, it's hard to stay happy and beaming when you're running out of money and you can't switch your heating on.

I noticed this ages ago, miserable shop workers, people just seem angry these days. I work in retail, i treat customers in the manner that I'd like to be treated. No matter what , SMILE, good morning, how are you?, how can I help? My positive attitude pays off, it immediately puts a smile on the customers face, they feel at ease. I'm always thanked, some stay to chat, even on first name terms with some, i get positive feedback, trust me, it makes my day better, I'm here to help. Yes, i do get bad tempered people, but, it is what it is. I'm 67, i do have worries, like everyone else, but, i leave my worries at home, not in the workplace.
I recently saw this sign on the London Underground “ Dogs Must be Carried At All Times When Using This Escalator” Anyway...I looked around and it took me about 40 minutes to find a dog...and so I carried it up the escalator as instructed. The dog was very puzzled...and so was I.

Been nursing 30 years, this is my take-Consultants are high academic IQ but that often comes at a cost of low IQ in other areas such as emotional intelligence. Many are on the spectrum and are amazing at what they do in a very narrow field of view.Broadly well rounded human beings, they are not, by and large, although not a hard and fast rule obviously. They do give their lives to others so we should all be eternally grateful, however they are not gods, though some like to think so.When you meet a consultant who is fully rounded they immediately stand out and are a real pleasure to be around, however for the most part we have to make allowances for difficult or shall we say 'special' behaviour, god bless em.
I love what you have to say and agree with you. Thank goodness there are plenty of wonderful nursing staff around to make up for these consultants.. Thank goodness also that consultants are less often being treated like Gods. I recall attending a meeting with a Consultant psychiatrist where all those gathered in the room did reverentially treat him like a god and the patient was discharged for me to supervise as his probation officer. The patient was clearly mentally ill but had told the consultant where to go in fruity language and hence the discharge. Those attending were respectfully shocked that the patient had sworn at the consultant and they clearly felt it was my job to manage this case instead.
I've felt completely ignored and invisible since 2020. I don't know if it's me getting more into middle age or if it's related to a post lockdown world or other factors but it's definitely noticeable. There is a major competency crisis now and as well as that there is a huge number of people who are priced out of housing and are struggling. If you don't see a future or you haven't much spending money to live rather than exist then it's not going to be a time to be a happy camper. Plus there are other things such as having colleagues from different cultures and less in common. There's no common jovial nature.
Learn from different cultures. Keep an open mind- people have more in common than anything that may divide them. The enemy of the workers arrives on a private jet not a boat full of desperate people seeking asylum or migrant labour from other countries. The right wants workers ( the majority) to turn on immigrants and asylum seekers as a distraction from their failed policies that do not deliver for most people.
Agreed! Most people don’t want to be there either. They are just working to pay the bills. Nothing to look forward to so probably explains a lot. I have noticed that since 2020 things have changed a lot and not for the better!
@@Marc-xc9uo True but it does not excuse not being professional dealing with customers. I don't know about the decline in manners in haberdashery but I am happy to take your word for it!
I agree. I have noticed how miserable we all are. Not surprising really though, No money . No pubs, so expensive to live here, rubbish on the telly, rubbish on the streets, and I’ve noticed really appalling customer service in shops and cafes etc. Have you noticed people don’t seem to clean their windows or mow their lawn or pull their weeds up too. We are so scruffy now too. It’s really a depressed place to live in tbh,
Customer service has definitely declined in many cases. People interrupting others instead of letting them finish a short sentence is on the rise too. Short attention spans due to addiction to phones and flitting from one screen to another such as phone to television or I pad seems to be impacting on the ability to listen and absorb what another person is saying. If someone is not clear or goes on for a good while interjecting is understandable and sometimes it happens by accident. But cutting across people is really noticeable and it cannot be just blamed on people in their twenties or thirties as those older than that are also doing it.
Thank you for expressing your thoughts. Something I've noticed in recent years is that as well as rubbish on the sides of roads just how many roads signs are either totally faded or broken and falling over and or totally removed. It's like we have run out of money to fix these.
@MichaelWilliams-n2fmake sense your analysis as the elites bailed out the banks and since then they mismanaged the economy to the degree it's now and the previous comment states that Corona virus was the actual virus who showed how vulnerable a system is when in bad health and even though it's hasn't 'died' like many did out of this matrix , it left traumas and discontentment amongst billions around the world, but mostly with the West people where the newly trending high levels of inflation and are suffering from high inflation and others on minimum earnings also some countries people are barely surviving , we also see how bad governments are, when they can't unite without making war in our sacred planet
yes, people have been writing from different parts of the world saying as much. However, quite a few Scots maintain they are a lot less miserable in Scotland !
A lot of younger people now will only engage with people of their own age and they mainly communicate via their phones. I was at a self service checkout at a supermarket the other day and needed clearance to buy a bottle of wine , a young woman came over in her very early 20's and I made a point of thanking her with a smile , she looked straight through me and just walked away , surely a smile or a nod in return wouldn't have been too much to ask ? Manners and politeness cost absolutely nothing and make the customers feel valued.
Thank you so much for your comments! I agree with you entirely. Not valuing people or caring about others seems so rude and horrible. Like you say politeness costs nothing.

Totally agree! I think its because as a nation, we have become selfish. Buying 'stuff', trying to portray a certain image and putting yourself first in every sense has become more important than being nice. There is no community spirit, just each man for himself. I'm glad I found your channel, I'm a happy new subscriber! These conversations are right up my ally. I'm glad to see these lack of people skills and unfriendliness isn't just in the US. It appears to be a Western phenomenon. I blame the rearing of an entire generation on screens as the main culprit. I see utterly bizarre behavior everywhere I go-from lack of common courtesy to lack of common sense. People not holding doors for people, people not thanking someone for holding doors for them, women holding doors for young men who walk in, never once looking up from their phones, no respect for personal space, and people acting like zombies, mindlessly thumbing though cell phones. To me that is a very passive, effeminate gesture, this passive addiction to cell phones in public even while driving. I see men at the gym all the time sitting on equipment for 10-20 minutes, maybe longer, just mindlessly hunched over scrolling through a phone while I go through 3-4 machines in that time. I'm 48 years old and I could go on and on about how bizarre people are these days -not just young people, this virus seems to have spread to everyone.

Yes, thank you I agree, but even the very rich and well off seem at times able to be extremely rude and grumpy and this most especially seems to happen when they get behind the wheels of their huge Range Rovers, despite not having money problems.
Not everywhere has housing starting at that price though, where I live you can get houses from 90k upwards. I live in a £250k detached house in the north in the nicest neighbourhood of the town I live in, we moved into it this year and it's taken my partner and 20 years of paying mortgages and building careers to achieve getting to the level of the housing ladder that we are on. People might be happier in terms of housing if they started being more realistic about what a starter home is! Granted I know housing is more expensive down south if that's what you are referring to but there's nothing forcing first time buyers to only look at expensive suburbs of London.
@@kingdaleclarke let's be honest there's no science that says Brits are all miserable, it's false statement made by people that think it's funny to stereotype an entire race of people. However it's not easy to be British and live in this country! Many people can't afford the basics in life here such as heating and even in working households, we are taxed ridiculously on everything compared to other nations, fuel is always more expensive than overseas, food shopping prices are starting to go on a par with Scandinavia and our average salaries are half what they are in Scandinavia! We have to pay nearly £300 for a return ticket for a couple of hours train journey on train that's likely to be unreliable and standing room only if it turns up! Overseas the train is guaranteed and a similar journey costs a few pounds in comparison! You are so right ✅️ the rudeness is quite maddening. Everyone looks utterly miserable now. Basic common decency is void in most folk. Social media has a lot to blame for it. I just detest this country now. Be the change you want to see 😊
Agree I work part time at a bar alongside full time work, soo many people are down right aggressively offensive to staff ,bizzar going to a bar and being angry and in a mood!
You're right about the staff who do online shopping on behalf of customers. Shopping in my local Tesco has become so unpleasant - I am made to feel that my presence in the aisle is an inconvenience to these staff with their oversized trolleys. Could they not separate their online sales completely from their customer stores, or perhaps the plan is to render conventional shopping so difficult that we all shop only online?
Same here in Australia - huge click and collect trolleys plus now pallets & cages everywhere unpacking stock during store hours. They are saving money by not paying night fill anymore. You are made to feel like a nuisance for wanting to stop and look at anything. Very unpleasant environment now.
Thank you yes, and funnily enough the shop I mention is Tesco !!!! The staff working there seem so miserable and unhappy and I really wonder how management treat staff these days. I get the feeling that generally speaking many employers are not too motivating or caring towards staff anymore , let alone the customers.
@@JohnEbrington-d7b Many employers are dreadful and hypocritical in claiming staff well being is a priority but ignoring it in reality. Tesco home delivery mostly works well for us with the majority of drivers affable and helpful. I have had some good conversations with them about various things, including one who has seen Rod Stewart over 50 times and another who is a deep sea diver in his spare time in all sorts of places. Some are off hand but when I have reported it to the company they seem to take the feedback on board and the customer service on the phone is very good. The profits of the company are outrageous though but profit is king in Britain due to neoliberalism and people just accept price gouging as inevitable even though it is not.

It's up to the individual to make a difference. At the supermarket - 1) smile on entering and greet at least three people you pass; 2) in the aisles engage with people with such questions as, "Excuse me, have you seen any tomato puree on your travels?"; 3) sing happy songs to "la" as you continue on your way - my favourite is "Hooray, Hooray, It's A Holi- Holiday"; 4) at the checkout always turn and greet the person who appears behind you, and, on festive occasions, before you go turn back round and, with a broad smile and a wave, wish everyone behind you a very Merry Christmas/Easter/Ramadan/Divali etc.
Just subscribed after stumbling on this channel. I'm 25, and I can totally relate to the struggles we in the UK are facing right now. Honestly, I get why people are fed up, but wow, the general vibe is just so miserable. Sometimes it feels like everyone’s a professional miserable sod. Keep on keeping on John
Each human lives in it's own universe, and mine is different to yours...and yours is different to your parents, or your best friend. This is not a subtle difference, it is fundamental and with a unique rai·son d'être for each individual. Therefore there is no cogent prerequisite to imitate humans, nor any preferred disposition to gain pleasure from superiority in any field or endeavour in which humans strive to excel. A question for you the individual reading this (and thank you) Do you think I am human or AI autonomously generated text?
Cor blimey, I remember how tough things were when I was 25 too. I feel for you. I really enjoy chatting with younger people these days. Mutual respect, kindness and empathy are good qualities to try to adhere to these days. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement I really appreciate it.!
I entirely agree with you on everything feeling so unfriendly at times. Personally, as someone who struggles as is with social anxiety it doesn't help when you know that everywhere you're just going to be met with attitude from rude people. People can't even do basic things like queuing for a bus, and it makes everything a nightmare, there's no social etiquette. In part I can understand being depressed with how things are going these days but everyone acting that way everywhere doesn't make for a good atmosphere at all in public. I'm trying to get better at talking to people in general as a young person but it can be really disarming when it feels like nobody wants to talk to you either, they're just there to get their job done and that's that. More people need to address this!!
Thank you so much for expressing your views and your experiences. I'm really upset by people's rudeness and uncaring attitudes at times. It seems so sad and such a shame. Thankfully, not every-one is like that. People seem better in smaller communities. Clubs too are often very friendly and supportive. I occasionally work for a social club for people with disabilities, run by a charity, that is so lovely kind and supportive. Sadly, selfish attitudes and behaviour are otherwise often all too common and I wish people could grow up leaning to be more polite and caring towards others. Perhaps, there are not enough positive older role models around with decent values. It's all a bit "me first" at times, even at the bus stop!
@JohnEbrington-d7b Hey, thank you for your reply! Clubs do sound like a good way of meeting decent people since there's usually common ground with the people there, relatability and more care since its community based. It sounds like amazing work you do at the social clubs! I also agree about there needing to be more positive role models too, I'd say my generation doesn't have much of that sadly. And the people we do have get walked all over because there's not really much respect for them?? People simply cannot hear out other viewpoints too, I think it'd be more valuable to actually listen to what older people have to say for once because there's always truth there I think. They're people who knew a time where things weren't really like this so they have their own experiences to share.
@@caligokinetics7853 thank you so much for your lovely and thoughtful reply. We are all going to need to keep working slowly at it even in these difficult times of adversity, for sure.
Just a slightly amusing point. I was on the bus the other day when an elderly lady got on. She had grey hair, and was wearing a grey coat and grey trousers. I thought to myself how can you be happy when you are a totally grey person?
At work I'm scolded if I decide to stop and say a few words. Outside of work I spend the day sleeping and recovering from work so no time or energy for social contacts. I wonder why I don't have people skills.
Many people are skint! Easy to be happy and freindly when you're wealthy or retired with a good pension. We've had no real terms wage growth since 2008 and house prices have shot up to a point where it's nearly impossible to buy without wealthy parents. The UK is a terrible place to try and get on in life, particularly if you live in the south, and anyone worth their salt are leaving to go to other countries.
Big mistake the bailed out of banks since then, they spread the cost of the rich into the lower classes. Also governments should have prohibited foreign investments into the national housing markets
Yes, I agree entirely with you but even the mega-rich with no money worries can sometimes be utterly miserable and horrible, at times, when for example, they get behind the wheels of their expensive Range Rovers in my experience. You have to quickly get out of their way or else because they are superior and they couldn't give a fig for your welfare.
@@JohnEbrington-d7b I agree, there are miserable people from all walks of society, but I've never seen so many young people who are incredibly despondent about their chances of having a secure future, and these are the people you come into contact with in day to day life. I also wouldn't pay too much attention to what car people drive as a measure of wealth, many people living month to month are driving a top of the line BMW or Range Rover etc. In my previous job as a customer service rep I also dealt with quite a few wealthy people and would find these to be far more reasonable and pleasant to deal with than those from less well off backgrounds. I always assumed this to be as a result of the reduced stress of being more financially secure.
Nobody has approached me to converse since 2021. And when I do it I just get strong "fuck away from me" energy from them. I've had lifelong social anxiety and since the pandemic it's like I've been plugged into a nightmare simulator.
I was in a sainsbury's and needed a staff member on the self serve. Her face was miserable. She was unhelpful and moaned at me because the barcode was missing. Grumpy and the look she gave me. Terrible experience.

I agree. When I came back from living in the states for a few years, I noticed an air of depression about the British. BUT you do come across lovely, friendly people, too. And we are lucky to live in the UK - I know it's not perfect - but we have a lot to be thankful for. I also wonder if the 'shutting down' from others, arises from multiple negative experiences with people. Imagine having to deal with the public, all day every day - you would have to put up with so much...
Thank you for your lovely contribution and I do tend to agree with you ! I'm both British and French !!! and find that the Brits can be a bit shy and reserved at times .....
Just found your channel and subscibed. Looks like you have some interesting stuff to share. When I returned to this country after working abroad England struck me as being miserable and unfriendly. That was 40 years ago and in the south. Now I live in the north. Here you can talk to complete strangers on the bus, in shops and in the street, no problem. When I was a child we didn’t know our neighbours, now I live in a road where we all know each other and usually exchange a few friendly words when we meet in the street. The opposite of how things are supposed to be! The big exception is public officials and doctors. Rude, arrogant, unhelpful. If you can get hold them at all. Must all be sent away to unlearn socisl skills.
Thank you so much for this and I tend to agree with you. People seem lovely in the small community where I live whereas that large retail park about 5 miles down the road seem utterly beastly. I made really good friends through being the Dad of my son over the years !
Not surprised people skills are disappearing fast, most people seem to live their lives addicted to a small screen - I see it everywhere I go, the conversation and social interaction I witnessed as a child and into most of my adult life has dissolved. People don't realise they have become money making serfs for the big data multinationals, that's why so many are unhappy - addicted to a false reality largely absent of meaningful and positive human interaction.
I'm 52 and the UK is now a far more miserable place than at any time in my lifetime though not surprising given the cost of living, poorly performing economy and the Labour government ,who have made things worse in their short time in power. Very different to the period from around 1995 to 2007 when there appeared to be a mood of optimism even if it was misplaced.
Totally agree I live in Easingwold North Yorkshire it’s defo miserable..you see sour faced people everyday you say hello they blank you..I’ve stopped bothering.Always come back home depressed dread going to the shops..
Aww, thank you for letting me know I'm not alone. I think we all need to stick together and look out for each other during these difficult times. Random acts of kindness towards strangers around Christmas time should be a must.
I think you got to the crux of it with comedy programs - people aren't watching a lot of good comedy, but i think they're watching a lot of stuff that makes them angry and upset on social media.
@JohnEbrington-d7b Agreed. I think it's something else though. The Tiktok algorithm for example will profile somebody and then show them the videos and comments that will get them to "engage" more (argue with others). More engagement, more arguments, more time spent on the app = more ad revenue. All social media platforms are doing some version of this and it's changing the culture in the "real" world.
Living on fraggle rock, never a day or two from sideways rain and midday darkness, a government that hates us generally makes folk a bit misery arsed I reckon.
Well put Jon. The weather just now is particularly gloomy. I also think that UK Politicians have become increasingly disliked and mistrusted over the years. Less people vote every election.
Is that a Heaton Cooper over your right shoulder? Looks like the Jaws of Borrowdale maybe? I know what you mean about miserable people….. I won’t lower myself to that level, and generally say hello to most people I walk past in my village. Rise above it! (I’m 58 btw)
Thank you so much for writing in and for your support. I know what you mean about Heaton Cooper. His paintings are wonderful. No it is a painting by a family friend Antonia Hunt. She worked tirelessly for Amnesty International and the Medical foundation and did some lovely very varied paintings in her spare time. This one was probably done whilst on holiday in the lake district. I agree with your comment about rising about the miserableness. I pretty much come to that conclusion in my following video ! ruclips.net/video/QqCl9GOOKko/видео.htmlsi=Mm6ufBTC5iUQYBTw do have a look if you get time . Best wishes
People's attitudes have changed dramatically over the years and you are right it's hard to get a smile out of anyone these days unless moneys involved. I have also found the wrong people in the wrong job's and this seems to have contributed to the way society is now. Manners and respect for fellow man and women have also gone out of the window and I think mobile phones and computers have alot to answer for when is comes to human interaction.
Thank you so much for writing in. Isn't it all so depressing. Like you say manners and respect are so important. We don't seem to value people enough. I 've been upset about mobile phones and about high staff turnover in UK workplaces and have done You Tubes on those issues too. If you get time have a look at my follow up You Tube on this topic of people being miserable in the UK : I hope you find it interesting and agree with my sentiments: ruclips.net/video/QqCl9GOOKko/видео.htmlsi=5Qiz1w7Z0iNxG1ze Very best wishes and take care
I live outside the UK and spend nearly all of my time on my visits, seeing my relatives in England, London mainly, but on the last visit went to Scotland, tracing my ancestors who lived in Langholm in the Scottish Borders. Found people to be happier and pleasanter than that part of England. One day, a schoolboy of about 16 greeted me with a 'Are you all right?" when walking about the town, which was refreshing as I'm in my mid-sixties. Found people to be friendly and cheerful in Edinburgh too despite its reputation for being stand-offish.
I have moved to Perthshire l am truly blessed. I love my life in the countryside my neighbours are wonderful. I was diagnosed with Lymphatic Leukemia on 27th December 2024. I am staying positive. It is wonderful in Perth and Dundee. Free parking. I am very happy. I try to do a good turn each day. ❤
Thankyou so much for writing in. I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but do greatly admire your positive attitude and outlook. Your neighbours sound wonderful. I've had lots of positive vibes and comments from Scottish people. I'm so pleased about your good turns. Other people's (random strangers) moods don't affect my own focus. If they are unprofessional or outright rude during an exchange of any kind, that's different. But if someone outside my circle is miserable that's their issue not mine, it's hardly surprising since various arms of the State have been working to demoralise society in order to make them less resistant to change for decades. The UK is nowhere near the most 'cold' place to live in terms of human interactions, once you get talking to most people here you would know that, it's merely the fact they have a protective wall up which makes them appear hostile.

We are entering the early stages of communism and it certainly has a reflection on general attitudes. The UK has become a grey, miserable place to live and OMG what has happened to the weather the last few years ???

I live in Scotland. I just don’t recognise what you are experiencing. Not perfect but even yesterday in shops, at the cinema, at the leisure centre - positive experiences with staff and other people. Watched Gladiator II in a freezing cinema. Even the young lassie doing the refunds afterwards was smiling… as were the punters chatting and waiting their turn.
@@JohnEbrington-d7bJohn - I went back to the start of your video. You did say… ‘in some parts of the UK’. The easy answer is to say, move. The not so easy part is to stay and put an infectious smile on your face. It may just catch on. Have a great day. Cheers.
you know the best thing to do to miserable people the thing that gets them the worst, be nice and polite to them, especially the ones that are a bit snarky to you, i always be extra polite to ones that are a bit short with me or rude, but thats because i'm evil sometimes
@@frogmastiff8198 Yes I agree with you about being extra polite. I recall back in the 1970’s British Rail staff were trained to be extra polite with awkward and rude, shouty passengers and call them Sir and Madam etc when responding to a torrent of abuse.
Good night John I agree with everything you said. It doesn’t cost anything to treat customers with respect & say Hi good morning, afternoon or evening maybe it’s outdated now but I still say it to everyone I know. Have a great week!!
Thank you so much Adrian and you have a great week too. I find it helpful to try to be polite, positive and cheerful with every-one I come across. I often give a little smile and get a lovely smile back, however I do remember someone who appeared to be disturbed calling me a pervert in response to my smile, many years ago. Yes, this does tend to work for me except that one apparently disturbed woman called me a "PERVERT" when I smiled at her many years ago, leaving me feeling rather hurt and confused. @JohnEbrington-d7b it is really bad, seems like everyone is in a bad mood and few people are friendly. Everyone is always go, go, go, seems like things are too fast paced for people to enjoy themselves and others.
Very interesting ! Does how much money people have affect this ? I used to find that some of the most humble and poorest were the loveliest to deal with on the whole. How about you ?
@JohnEbrington-d7b I find the same; however I find the ones from a working class background made good are awkward and those with money are awkward, lots of awkward behaviour, no offers of a drink, quibling about the bill, I've done a couple of videos lately on similar thought process as your having
@JohnEbrington-d7b if someone is poor and not got much then they are usually lovely, even that is Changing though as people get more desperate as time goes on, it seems in the main to be the aspirational people who can no longer afford their bills that then get bitter, loving beyond their means and times get tough, they need a job doing but can't pay for it etc

Yes people have become more miserable in uk and it is unbearable, the standards of everythig in uk has gone down and it is all because of sky high taxes, sky high living costs as food, rent , housing, car, everything is so unbearable and people are being toxic with each other, and because of this many people are leaving uk as this is not a healthy or normal environment to be in, and whose fault is this ? This is dragging people down and it is really sad, it is depressing to be in this type of environment

Hi, Yes, Housing has changed so much over my life-time. Council accommodation used to be readily available years ago. Lots of homes were sold off under Mrs Thatcher and the money made was not ploughed back into generating more homes. Being housed became more and more difficult and the management of the council homes was given over to these housing associations. I have heard quite a few reports of how unhelpful they can be when it comes to repairs etc. The officials seem to spend time fobbing people off due to lack of resources and the complaints process sounds absolutely horrible.

I was made redundant in September and going back into the world of job hunting has been a bit of shock, HR departments seem so inhuman these days, gone seem to be the days where you are treated like a person and yiu get a call to say whether you did or didnt get a job and give you feedback as to why you didnt get it! You are ghosted and left dangling until that many weeks go by that you have to assume that no contact is ever going to be made - it certainly feeks rude to be treated like that when youve made the effort to prepare for and travel to an interview.
@JohnEbrington-d7b I had two interviews this morning and one last week - they done like buses! But I've started asking when will I be likely to hear back and being honest about the fact that I've had experiences of being ghosted and I'd rather know and move on from it if I'm not successful.

I'm so glad you've highlighted the consultants pay here in the UK. I feel that they are quite greedy and just want more. Driving around in their luxury cars. It's abysmal. I listened to your views and have to say I agree with you. Personally when I heard your statement at 5:30 about people being cold and unfriendly I remembered the Bible verse Matthew 24:12 where during a discussion about the end of the age where Jesus said "because lawlessness shall abound, the love of many will grow cold." I can certainly feel this in the atomosphere when out and about in many towns and cities in the UK. What with the rumors of wars in many parts of the globe and natural disasters causing a lot of issues worldwide at the moment I think people really need to wise up. I can honestly say and feel that we are in the end times and very close to Jesus return. Please pick up a Bible and you will see for yourself. This is NOT to scare anyone but to give people food for thought and to investigate themselves before writing off the Bible.

John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Well done for bringing some humour to a rather miserable set of comments😂
Those attending were respectfully shocked that the patient had sworn at the consultant and they clearly felt it was my job to manage this case instead.
agreed - nursing staff can communicate like human beings, MDs cannot
I've felt completely ignored and invisible since 2020.
I don't know if it's me getting more into middle age or if it's related to a post lockdown world or other factors but it's definitely noticeable.
There is a major competency crisis now and as well as that there is a huge number of people who are priced out of housing and are struggling. If you don't see a future or you haven't much spending money to live rather than exist then it's not going to be a time to be a happy camper.
Plus there are other things such as having colleagues from different cultures and less in common. There's no common jovial nature.
Thank you so much for your points.
I blame Boris Johnson's hairdresser.
It’s really a depressed place to live in tbh,
Don't forget the mostly crap weather..
So glad I grew up in the sixties. It was cleaner, less stressfull und folk seemed happier.
Thank you for expressing your thoughts. Something I've noticed in recent years is that as well as rubbish on the sides of roads just how many roads signs are either totally faded or broken and falling over and or totally removed. It's like we have run out of money to fix these.
I have noticed some of my relatives behaving like this tbh.

yes, people have been writing from different parts of the world saying as much.

That sounds like excuses. Brits have known to be miserable for years compared to other people
@@kingdaleclarke let's be honest there's no science that says Brits are all miserable, it's false statement made by people that think it's funny to stereotype an entire race of people. However it's not easy to be British and live in this country! We have to pay nearly £300 for a return ticket for a couple of hours train journey on train that's likely to be unreliable and standing room only if it turns up! Overseas the train is guaranteed and a similar journey costs a few pounds in comparison! It’s not on people being so nasty and offensive to staff. It’s so sad. Take care working so hard.
Retail parks can be depressing though. The shopping centres are possibly friendlier.

Never found this in Scotland especially my home town of Dumfries
In my follow up You Tube to this one I mention how a Scot did a good turn for me back in the 1970's. It is on this one : :ruclips.net/video/QqCl9GOOKko/видео.htmlsi=7PX510z6Garjn44o
Thank you yes, perhaps I need to learn to take a leaf out of your book.
i visit UK from France and UK is miserable country nobody realy interacts with you
Out c’est triste mais les ecossais sont plus sympa ! Where are you from in France? Jean-Marc do please watch this video if you get time ! ruclips.net/video/VNq8ym4N6n0/видео.htmlsi=iMySzwoCy0wrm6pl
We are entering the early stages of communism and it certainly has a reflection on general attitudes.
The UK has become a grey, miserable place to live and OMG what has happened to the weather the last few years ???
@@trustnuffin9121 I tend to agree with you on everything. However, I feel that there is a strong dislike and distrust of all politicians, leading me to doubt us ever becoming communists.
@@JohnEbrington-d7b I pray that you are right bud but the darkness seems to run deep. "They" have already captured most of South America and the west & Europe seems to be following suit.

I laugh a lot and see the funny side of things often because humans are actually pretty hilarious. I make myself laugh with the crap that goes on my own head sometimes. I rarely see people throw a proper belly laugh. It's like everyone is stunted. I'm not happy all the time but at least I can have a bloody good belly laugh!! It's a rare thing to see someone even smile these days.
Oh yes Kate, I am with you. Laughter is so important and beneficial for people too. A friend of mine delivers laughter yoga sessions that are really good. It is good to see the funny side of things even when times are tough. I attempted to do this during the pandemic when I did the following live broadcast. ruclips.net/video/43p7iXe-A3U/видео.htmlsi=TT8GT1xxtBwJ8UXz. I hope it gives plenty of belly laughs on watching it.

Lovely to hear! The best wedding I have ever been to was in Scotland.
@@JohnEbrington-d7bJohn - I went back to the start of your video. You did say… ‘in some parts of the UK’. The easy answer is to say, move. The not so easy part is to stay and put an infectious smile on your face. It may just catch on. Have a great day. Cheers.

I agree with you. Some are like Gods !
@@JohnEbrington-d7b As a recently retired NHS nurse, I wholeheartedly agree also.
@@chrisreed3929 Thank you so much as that means a lot to me. Thank you for all of your years of hard work.
you know the best thing to do to miserable people the thing that gets them the worst, be nice and polite to them, especially the ones that are a bit snarky to you, i always be extra polite to ones that are a bit short with me or rude, but thats because i'm evil sometimes
Things seem better in the smaller community where I live, but that retail park a few miles down the road is positively awful! It reminds me of the time of the run on loo rolls during the pandemic.
My local sainsburys is full of miserable people. If i smile at someone and get nothing back i sing Nat King Cole s smile. My local council estate shopping centre wythenshawe is full of smiling pleasant people.
❤ yes my experiences are very similar in that people in my local area are much more friendly. However if I burst into song it would worsen the situation. I ‘ m an eccentric and that seems help.
Most people are looking around looking for something to be offended by that’s why !
What a shame.
I was happy to get back to Canada. At least the people still are friendly
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I apologise for our tendency to be unfriendly at times over here. I look forward to visiting Canada one day!
Smile at the world and often it will smile back at you. Staff in boots today were so incredibly helpful and friendly!
Staff wearing boots across retail or staff in Boots?
Yes, this does tend to work for me except that one apparently disturbed woman called me a "PERVERT" when I smiled at her many years ago, leaving me feeling rather hurt and confused. I go out of my way to be polite and friendly with every-one I come across and find it tends to work. Things in the small community where I live seem quite good but the large retail park I mention seem awful.
Not just miserable but a lot of them don't know how to indicate when driving.
@@samr8603 Yes, it’s a bit like ignorance and carelessness towards other motorists. Have you noticed how so many road signs seem to be battered and falling over these days too.
People are glued to their screens, they are losing real world coping mechanisms. They they are losing self awareness! Just because you have online friends who love sarcasm, manipulation and bragging DOES NOT mean its real, or that real people enjoy those things.

It's the same in the US, so many without people skills. The TV show Absolutely Fabulous was so funny!
Thank you . Sorry that it is the same in the USA ! but surely it can't be as bad..... Glad you loved Absolutely Fabulous !! Me too .. Keep smiling !
@JohnEbrington-d7b it is really bad, seems like everyone is in a bad mood and few people are friendly. Everyone is always go, go, go, seems like things are too fast paced for people to enjoy themselves and others.
I'm a tradesman, try working in people's homes it's a nightmare these days
Not happy to be here, here you go I said it - lot of people can probably relate.
Some people still mask with fake smiles or have honest smiles, but people are exhausted nowadays they don't bother to hide it no more.
Monotony and constant stress will get to you, only doing things that are forced upon you and very little time/money to truly do what makes you feel human.
Isn't so sad!
They are even screening peanut 🥜🥜🥜 butter 🧈🧈 now.
I am miserable + lacking in people skills because that is how I was taught to behave, Now wheres my compensation??
Everyone in our village says "hellooo" whether they know you or not, its like the culture of the place. So different from the town i came from where even next door neighbours of 40 years wouldn't look up

Housing associations are the worst. With the nhs you can choose your care to a point. But the narcissm of Housing officers managers repairs ( bodge jobs) and surveyors who have done a 12 week on line course after having several children. Complaints process is like psychological war fare.
Nhs well i wouldn't call it a service 😂😂
Hi, Yes, Housing has changed so much over my life-time. Council accommodation used to be readily available years ago. Lots of homes were sold off under Mrs Thatcher and the money made was not ploughed back into generating more homes. Being housed became more and more difficult and the management of the council homes was given over to these housing associations. I have heard quite a few reports of how unhelpful they can be when it comes to repairs etc. The officials seem to spend time fobbing people off due to lack of resources and the complaints process sounds absolutely horrible.

Cheer up, it's getting near Christmas. I guess we'll be putting up the decorations in a few days. Who said, "Humbug"?
Yes, will do. It's important to be positive and friendly, and think of others at Christmas !
I agree 100% and expressed a similar view in a recent video. I wish you very best wishes and good luck in finding a job soon.

I had a consultant call me out of the blue from a hospital, because my mom was taken ill there. He spoke to me like he was ordering fish and chips!! I was livid.

I agree ,, just a smile can lift you
I listened to your views and have to say I agree with you.
People are wfh more, everyone is feeling burnt out. Communities have all but been destroyed. I volunteer once a week and even finding the social aspect of that is going.

People in the UK always look miserable, but let's face it we've made life harder for ourselves since 2016, once we face up to our big mistake, the healing will begin, but until then more misery I'm afraid, enjoyed your video though.

Oh god don't get me onto consultants. So arrogant. So lacking empathy. Done nothing for me. Scrap the NHS.
So sorry to hear this!
@JohnEbrington-d7b oh it's been a nightmare. Tinnitus, hearing loss, vertigo and hyperacusis all at different times after going to have wax removal last December. Going to Preston hospital about it tomorrow after months of me pestering but I'm not hopeful. Their priority has seemed to be making sure it's said that it couldn't have been the wax removal. My local GP was the worst. Absolutely furious with me he was. I was shocked and upset.
Sorry to hear this. Sounds like you need independent advice and may have grounds to make a formal complaint. Take care and hope your health improves.
@JohnEbrington-d7b I have thought about a formal complaint but unfortunately the bodies which deal with this are linked to the NHS. Do you know whilst I was at university being brainwashed I had to write an essay entitled 'NHS: jewel in the crown of the welfare state' - and I believed it!! So naive. Now I think it's one of the most evil forms of Communism.
