I feel lucky i could fly with Cyprus airways in the cockpit 5 times! Thanks to my father i had the chance to live this experience! I RESPECT the pilots job even if i am not one. Most people think that the autopilot does the job for them and makes me wonder if they think before they talk :/ I hope i was one my self. Going to work and love what your doing is something else
***** You can ask for entry to pilots and they usually let you. But, (If I remember well) above 30,000 ft. you have to leave the cockpit due to ``security´´.
Usually you leave it on if going through clouds and rain. The igniters are automatically on if flaps are deployed but normally switch off when flaps fully retracted
Why did it go very loud with a sudden rise in engine speed when the engines kicked in at 8:52? I've travelled on loads of A320 flights and a) they never leave the ground this quick b) it's a very smooth, steady gathering of speed until takeoff... brilliant vid though, I wish I could fly a plane
What is the exact runway length at Skiathos Airport? Was it 1,518 meters before 2014 and is now 1,628 meters, or was it 1,628 meters before 2014 and is now 1,738 meters?
drew lumiere If it is needed, yes. But it is not recommended to put the whole workload and the communication with ATC on only one pilot, because it would increase the possibility of overlooking things and making mistakes for the pilot. So one pilot flies (the so called "pilot flying") and the other one does the contributory work ("pilot not flying")
drew lumiere absolutely, modern planes paired with modern airports can be programmed to to takeoff and land without even needing a pilot, only pre-flight inputs, however a pilot is always needed to monitor systems and are generally considered more reliable than computers. A co-pilot is required to do overseeing, including checklists to reduce the workload of the flying pilot to avoid errors.
***** Bullshit. A plane cannot take off without a pilot, this must be done manually. Also you can't program a plane at the ground, to do a whole flight from A to B. Even if autopilot flies, the pilots have to control and manage the systems. An automatic landing is possible but in this case, the pilots have also to guard the plane from cruise to final approach, manage speeds, altitudes, stabilize it on the ILS and configure the aircraft for landing (flaps, gear etc.). For an automatic landing, there is an ILS-System with CATII/III needed and there are a lot of airports which don't have that. But even if that is available: In heavy crosswinds you also cannot do an autoland. So an aircraft can nothing do without a pilot who gives advices what it has to do when. A co-pilot is a fully qualified pilot as the captain is. Both have rotatory the role as PF (Pilot Flying) and PNF (Pilot Not Flying). The PNF assists the PF and do minor things, like coummunicate with ATC. But this isn't always the role of the co-pilot, it's the role of the captain as well. It's a myth under many people that a co-pilot is only the "unskillde worker" of the captain.
A320 has FADEC engines (so all pilot has to do is switch the engine starter to ignition and flick a switch) a computer controls the start up procedure and introduces fuel automatically. Will even shut down automatically if it detects a fault
Question for aviation people; I know airplanes have radar for weather and to see other planes, also it seems like there are 2 of them one for the pilot one for the co pilot, if one or both of these radar malfunction how do the pilots respond?
Cian Broderick they get information from the planes transponder. TCAS is a system that uses the transponder to the alert pilots of other planes nearby that could be too close. If you turned the transponder off then nobody else’s TCAS would pick you up
It's because the tips of the fan blades break the sound barrier. And when that sound is repeated quickly (the front fan consists of many blades; spins fast), you get the buzzsaw sound. However, more recent aircraft use engines that mitigate this sound.
Elevator trim Moves the whole elevators to set an attitude. In small planes, when you are climbing or something, you are pulling back and holding, trimming releases the pressure with little tabs on the control surfaces. Or in this case, the A320 has a whole moving tailplane, while the elevators still move, the trim wheels move the tailplane and make it easier for the pilots
+Xx_SnakeBoy4Ever_xX algood! look up some of the trim tabs and that on here, too much to explain in the comments, but that's basically what the trim is for
Looks very similar to short take off in smaller airfield in Indonesia where I live. I think the pilot here release the brake when the turbine spool up from half to full power.
Nicely done there. Enjoyed every second of this cockpit video! By the way, can i ask what software do you use for editing and what template do you use to render? Thanks!
Henry Iglesias in Airbus when switching from NAV mode to HDG mode the plane automatically goes into OP CLB as it’s not following the programmed route. The beeping is to let the pilots know a mode has changed without them doing anything
the requirement for mtow take off run is 2,1 km. at skiathos you only have 1,628 km always wondered how settings for take off was done since the runway is shorter than usual.
The before takeoff checklist is divided by an imaginary line, which usually divides the part of the checklist to be read before and after takeoff or line-up clearance has been received. You can also check out my other cockpit videos to watch all the procedures. Thanks for watching!

Actually the best A320 takeoff video I have ever seen - because of the sound quality!
Glad you liked it! Actually, it's a very old video. Why not check out my newer A319 full cockpit flights with Cobalt Air?

this video is so great man!!!(big big like) its also so sad we cant check in the cockpit anymore after those terror attacks!!..
Great video. Anyone know why they had the engine start selector on "ignition" instead of normal until after takeoff?
It depends on the weather in which position you set the engine mode selector. But I don't know when you turn it to which position.
Usually you leave it on if going through clouds and rain. The igniters are automatically on if flaps are deployed but normally switch off when flaps fully retracted
Mitsch Mitschelor usually during rain
Because on Airbus equipped with IAEs, as long as the flaps are not at 0, the ignition remains on automatically
Thank you.
great videos...subscribed
Wouldn't you love to be the guy filming this, having to stand up all the time. That must be one hell of a ride.
From the angle of the camera it looks like he/she is standing up.

One suggestion for you, Please upgrade your camera 📷.....
I am surprised they stayed on flaps 3 for so long in climb out. Must have been short runway and steep climb out.
Couldn't think of anything worse than being a pilot. I would be terrified
Pilots share one thing in common, they become pilots because they love airplanes!
Does the new model of A320 comes with triptonic? How many cylinders? Time from 0 to 100 mph?
Not sure if this is a joke, I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
But commercial aircraft use Turbofan engines for thrust.
good!!
You should come to Leeds Bradford airport England
Were you filming?
im not a smart person, but can this passenger plane take off and landing without co-pilot?
i mean, can this plane drived by 1 person?

Did you send an E-mail to the airline to get permission to go in to cockpit?
Hey guys i m new to air planes. i just want to know that what pilot did at 1:30 and what happen after doing that?
he started engine no 2
A320 has FADEC engines (so all pilot has to do is switch the engine starter to ignition and flick a switch) a computer controls the start up procedure and introduces fuel automatically. Will even shut down automatically if it detects a fault

Sometimes A320 planes have that buzz sound as heard during take off (arround 9:40 ) and sometimes not... Why?
new engines of the a320 won't make so much buzzing noise
Matthieu Heim the amount of thrust being used determines the sound.
It's because the tips of the fan blades break the sound barrier. And when that sound is repeated quickly (the front fan consists of many blades; spins fast), you get the buzzsaw sound. However, more recent aircraft use engines that mitigate this sound.
What are the 2 things that have the white on top next to the throttle? What is it used for?
the trim wheels
whats it for?
Elevator trim
Moves the whole elevators to set an attitude. In small planes, when you are climbing or something, you are pulling back and holding, trimming releases the pressure with little tabs on the control surfaces. Or in this case, the A320 has a whole moving tailplane, while the elevators still move, the trim wheels move the tailplane and make it easier for the pilots

I assume you are using Celsius for Flex Temp
+sbentjies FLEX Temps are always in Celsius. The ranges on the 320 I THINK are 30*-70* C
At 8:13 what does the captain say? I can't hear it properly
"Ok ready? [takeoff checklist] Below the line..." and then they carry on with the items :)
what cost index is cyprus is using?
I guess its sth between 30-40 :)
How can you enter in the cockpit? I'm a PPL student
Work your way to an ATPL frozen and aim for the right seat 😉
Aren't they supposed to say "vee one... rotate" and then leave the ground?
Yes
Normally yes, but not necessary, in this case when the short field TO VS call out was done by the FO he responded back with checked and rotated.
+TheGreatFlyer
Well, I heard Check, and Gear Up, so, your statement is probably false.
TOGA would be the utmost.
what whas that alert 13:39 switch OP CLB ??
Henry Iglesias in Airbus when switching from NAV mode to HDG mode the plane automatically goes into OP CLB as it’s not following the programmed route. The beeping is to let the pilots know a mode has changed without them doing anything
How do you get in the flight deck?
Oh ok cool

always wondered how settings for take off was done since the runway is shorter than usual.
when is the last uk flight to Skiathos
today dear kevin :D i flought to skiathos
8:38 What is that doubled sound? ;)
Dominik G. Seat electric motor. Pilot moving his seat back or forward
According to wikipedia the a320 is heavier than the 737 but yet takes up less runway. How did airbus pull this one off?
Less fuel efficient engines, burning more thrust.
Like fighter jets in afterburner, that's basically Airbus 319-320 engines for you
OD786 Dro Completely incorrect.
Airbus engines slightly more powerful than CFM 56’s
What does below the line mean?
The before takeoff checklist is divided by an imaginary line, which usually divides the part of the checklist to be read before and after takeoff or line-up clearance has been received. You can also check out my other cockpit videos to watch all the procedures. Thanks for watching!
Is a passenger or a normal person is allowed to stand and record a video like this? plz reply
It's up to the captain. Yes you can record.
They won’t be standing they’ll be sat in jump seat
9:16 someone took a picture of the aircraft taking off!
+TheGreatFlyer No problem! I read through the comments first before posting this as I thought someone already noticed it.
He may be a plane spotter or may be any kind of worker or crew at airport
to what does flex 46 refer?
djrmonix Flex 46 refers to the derated thurst setting. In this case 46 degrees Celsius
Great video! but how is this even possible?
Physics

No worries. but wouldn’t it be nice to actually get all the info you don’t get from x-plane or fsx..
+Costa Fortia yeah, I mean, Flight sim's great, but it very rarely gives me the nice flying sensation I get when I fly in real life
@8:40 the bulb not light up and the captain knock it... rarely see this
I don't think he knocked it, he turned the dimmer on.
@@greatflyer_aviation nope... You can clearly see the captain knocked it with the finger and no dimmer for the light on captain side throttle only... Btw nice video bro

At 8:39. He taps next to the throttle control for a light to come on.
Some sort of loose connection I guess
I ask myself only, what happens in such a short tax way if something goes wrong?
Hope for the best.
