UPDATE: A quick correction: the high/low preset actually does appear to change more than just motion blur and ray tracing. In side-by-side shots on Series X, the game is clearly less detailed and lower-resolution with the low settings preset enabled, as opposed to the game running with the high settings preset with RT and motion blur disabled. Other visual settings seem to be identical. The game running with the low preset also runs faster than the game set to high with RT and motion blur disabled, at least in GPU-limited areas. The PS5 is similar to Series X with the low preset in image quality. Like in other GPU-limited areas of the game, the PS5 runs somewhat slower than Series X with the low preset. But, if you toggle it to low, the flicker goes This happens in Sony first-party games when switching between fidelity and performance in 120hz mode as well. So, there is certainly something happening when you set the visual mode to low - it's not 'just' disabling those two options.
@@thanksbetotap old comment, it just seen it. I haven't had an issue with Spiderman but things like Uncharted 4 and The Last of us have a visible flicker when you enable VRR and unlock the framerate whilst in fidelity mode. But, if you switch to perfmance VRR mode there's no flicker at all - also no flicker in any mode with VRR off. I presume it's the LFC causing the issue as fidelity VRR is 30fps unlocked, so it probably isn't going above 48fps, meaning the VRR may not be able to work correctly/fully. The game still plays great, you just see a flicker in bright areas.

So wait, are graphics set to low when the video indicates RT is off, or are they set to high when RT is off? I would assume low graphics would also affect things like texture and rendering resolution.
Try switching off and on your Internet on the ps5 and see if Dd2 has gotten an update. Sometimes that worked for me in regards to missing updates on games.

Does anyone know what that is? It is an LG 55inch Nano I have had since 2021. I noticed the effect a little for the first time on red dead remastered when turning the camera on grass areas. Tonight it was the whole screen. Is the TV broken and shoukd be replaced or is it the game. As with general TV content and the test screens I can't see the issue. Any help would be most welcome.
Honestly, I don't really give a crap about any of this mumbo jumbo. We used to play Nintendo games and had fun with them. A gaming experience, for me, isn't primarily dependent upon graphics. I mean, I played DD1 for many years; loved that game, and how it looked or performed was never really a concern I had.
This is my biggest disappointment this year. Not just visually, but In literally all elements of the game. No combat depth, very low skill ceiling, bad enemy placements, abysmal enemy variety, movement, and a god awful story. The only thing the game does well is the character creation. Capcom did this game dirty. They didn’t put their heart into the game.

MH World ran like ass too 🤷
At its peak, it doesn't look nearly as good as Horizon FW at 60 fps, so....I really don't understand what's going on with this one. 30fps with frame pacing issues is a joke.
So they didn't fix anything nor make it run 60fps stable
They shouldn't have made this using the RE Engine, it wasn't made for open world games
Baked in/Forced RT has to be one of the dumbest ideas ever for CONSOLE games.
Motion blur is always a nice feature to have toggleable by itself, because motion blur always looks like ass.
This game looks like absolute doodoo water on my PS5. The blurry ghosting or whatever is happening is hurting my eyes and making my head hurt! Wtf Capcom
1:40 Actually it instead looks like variable rate shading on SX.
Kinda worried for MH Wilds...
You should be, they’re getting way too ambitious with weak hardware
@Fafnir2000Yes. That GPU is super weak. Only 10gb of Vram. I got a 4090 because my old 3080ti wasn't cutting it.
@Fafnir2000 Yes it's weak. On my 4090, the game run perfectly since day one
@@Worick_the issue isn’t the hardware, it’s optimisation
DD2 & MHW aren’t made by the same teams.
Speaking only for myself, I consider DD2 a disappointment. I loved DD1, but DD2 is severely lacking. There are almost no truly open areas, just a series of narrow paths that zig zag all over the map. That is NOT what I consider "open world." The near end content is lackluster. The simplifying armor is a mistake. Missing monsters & weapons. Too few cities. Roads are too full of enemies. And I could go on & on. I'm so disappointed with this game. Hopefully, the Devs release a quality DLC that is impactful.
A low point for Capcom. Even PC stutter race can't run in. Unacceptable.

I'm getting 60fps on PS5 with the 120hz output, no ray tracing and low graphics quality. Graphics are ok but smoother performance is the way to play for me.
So are you suggesting they are making up numbers in the video?
Same! LG OLED 120hz with VRR it runs smoothly now at 60fps or higher. All these complaining are just broke af to afford a decent display.
+0:08 I strongly disagree
There is NOTHING visually groundbreaking about this title.
I was so hyped for this game and i was 100% going to buy it when it came out but then i heard about the performance and denuvo(PC) and it went to 0%. Maybe some day it will be buyable.
Well, we deserve it. If we hadn't pre-ordered or bought these horribly optimized games on day one, these issues could have been avoided. But here we are-enjoy!
What about PC?
TL,DW: it's not fixed and will never be.
Honestly these performance patches are nice, but this game desperately needs a hard mode or better enemy level scaling. The fact that you become a God by level 30 is such a bummer. I wanna build my character and party, then push their skills to the limit. The combat is so fun, but the fights become too short to early
At least hope PS6 will run it on 60fps
What makes you say that? We all thought(when they were announced) that every PS5/Series-X game would run at 60fps, no problem. How wrong we were to assume…

Oliver - you're wrong. On my TV, if I have it set to the 120hz mode (on PS5) and have high settings enabled, there's visible flicker - even with RT and motion blur off. But, if you toggle it to low, the flicker goes
This happens in Sony first-party games when switching between fidelity and performance in 120hz mode as well. So, there is certainly something happening when you set the visual mode to low - it's not 'just' disabling those two options.
You’re saying you see VRR flicker in the Insomniac games with 120 Hz output enabled for Fidelity/Quality Mode, but not in Performance Mode?
A great game that performs so poorly. A true shame, because I really do love DD2.
Not buying this for less than 20 dollars,it’s a joke what people are pulling off with day one releases rn,the patches comes slowly and there is no reason for me to buy those damn games.
People go on about the bad performance in the town but the rest of the game is no better. I mean on my 7700x and 3080 I get 30fps at 1440p dlss Quality and that is when I am NOT in the town and doing nothing.
With a competent fps cap, this game would be rather OK. I'd like to see a 40fps cap as well.
What is this thumbnail? AI generated dragon that has nothing to do with the game? Why!?
Thanks Oliver for the work. Some feedback: it’d be great in the conclusion to hear your recommended way to play. You mentioned PS5 in VRR but questions I have are: should I use the 30fps cap? Should I use RT or not?
I know these are subjective but would be nice to know what you’d recommend.
I can't believe they still haven't fixed the checkerboarding. Unbelievable how incompetent they are.
As long as 30fps doesn't bother you (doesn't bother me at all) it runs pretty good. On PS5, locked at 30fps, ray tracing on and motion blur off. The graphics are very nice with ray tracing on and feels good at 30fps. It's a shame it can't run a stable 60 fps though. I want to mention that I tried variable fps and ray tracing off. It was unstable and choppy in areas and smooth in some other areas. I also don't have a tv with vrr support or 120hz. I have a basic 60hz walmart 4k tv. Hope this helps someone!
It’s a good start, but please keep making improvements, Capcom!
Motion blur off is the only way.
I'm just glad that the patch that dropped before this one on PC solved the missing ground texture issues that some GPUs were experiencing.
I've noticed since the new patch when I'm running in the map the movement seems slightly better but i still notice movement stutter in vernworth and other cities but in boss battles like the Griffin when he does that wind thing with his wings that the grass and wind seem to move at 60
Can u guys plz boost the higher pitches so that the audio(VO) isn't so muted and deep. It literally gets drowned by the AC noise(or any slightly higher pitch sound). It's impossible to watch ur vdos on speaker for this issue. I know he has a deep tone...but u can boost the pitch little bit in post.
So much time and no PC ? Console gamers are almost not interested in such things that's why they bought a console and not a PC
So far no patch has fixed the performance on pc, that's why there is no video about it.

A new PC won't help on unoptimized software
It’s not your pc, game is optimized like dog shit.
These guys forget that RT lighting does not equal a beautiful image. If you saw DD and thought it was visually well designed, not muddy, not extremely repetitive in color and asset variety and that is was more beautiful than games like Avatars of Pandora or Elden Ring, I just don't know what to tell you. Actually, I do, ur eyes is broke.
Can you compare all the graphic modes of The First Descendant on consoles, including frame generation and ray tracing? I'd love to know which combination of settings gives you the best results.
Why the click-bait title? "Big Improvements"??? The game is a mess lmao, barely 30 fps with ghosting, artifacts and stuttering galore = "improvements", yep.
Capcom's checkerboarding or 'interlacing' as they call it is getting to be a problem. It used to be good, but it has been a problem here, and it was also a problem for RE4. I don't think it plays nicely with the current Xbox machines.
That's why im not buying any game on day 1 when cant go stable 60 fps on ps5, Simple

Did they fix the checkerboard bug yet on Xbox?
So the checkerboard issue, will it ever be fixed? What do u think does it cause?
The answer is no for PS5. Stuttering is still present wherever you go pretty much. It struggles to even reach 30fps and drops to about 15fps regularly when exploring the city. I finally bit the bullet and sold my disc copy.
I swear to god, every time I see this game my disappointment grows larger. It started as a 8/10 due to the honeymoon phase for me, now it's falling to a 6.5.

What about PC? What has the performance been as of late? I've been wanting to do NG+ to work on remaining classes but frames were not the best my first time around.
Can you guys do an updated tech review of Final Fantasy 14? It just received a graphical upgrade in the latest expansion featuring DLSS2 and FSR implementation, would be interesting.
Try already said in his last video on FF14 that he’d be doing that for DF as well.

Hi guys, quick question. Will you do a technical analysis of Beyond Good and Evil 25th Anniversary? I'm interested in it but since remasters aren't always perfect I'm waiting to see some technical comparison videos
Not sure why you guys make videos like this and don’t title them appropriately. PC has major issues with this game as well and there’s zero coverage? I was watching this while I was shaving and the entire time I was waiting for you to cover PC and it just never happened 😂
Love the vids but this could have been appropriately titled
Damn they really need to fix the Xbox upscaling issue. why is that not a bigger scandal?
Yeah, true. Cyberpunk has also this Problem with FSR on Xbox.
How is the ps5 more powerful in cpu bound places?
Doesnt the xbox have a better cpu aswell? I dont understand this.
PS5 is a more streamlined and efficient architecture.
They really really need to make there engine better or use a different engine for capcoms big open world games like I can see Monster Hunter Wilds probably have the same issues like DD2 with the RE engine I just still dont think it does well with open worlds and it shows because resident evil games run amazing thats obviously because there not open world there linear but then you get DD2 which is open world and has lots of technical issues so its definitely still the engines fault
So with 120Hz + VRR, we can reach the 60 fps on ps5 ?
An FSR3.1 update for consoles be nice with lower resolution upscale to 1440p at a lock 40FPS be ideal with 120hz.
TLDW: no

Try switching off and on your Internet on the ps5 and see if Dd2 has gotten an update. Sometimes that worked for me in regards to missing updates on games.
Played about 200 hours of it on the Series X with RT on and with VRR ofc. Other than when it would break down for a couple seconds entering main town, the game played and looked amazing. Thankfully the checkerboarding bug wasn't all that noticeable, which scared me from your initial video on here. Amazing game.
Exactly! Same here; Series X, HMDI 2 cable and a TV that can take it, optimised settings for Xbox to play with HDR. Only box I've not got ticked is 120Hz, my TV should be able too but started refusing to a year or so ago, but that's not been a problem 🤷🏻♂️
