Audio is perfect like this, btw. You can hear the game sound and music, but the Korean commentators are dim enough so they don't distract. *chefs kiss*
@@darkstrong4553 Yes they are louder than game sound so he has to reduce the volume so much you can't hear any game sound in the end. Hope next season they provide a clean feed.
On that map specifically its quite common to wall exactly as royal did because you can bug a couple lings through the backdoor and go up that ramp and be annoying in the main base if terran tries to wall in front of the natural. Plus the natural is pretty wide open so you cant full wall there (I think) Its actually strange he did the 4 pool on that map, of all maps.
Royal was really interesting to watch. It's nice to see a pro using his brain and thinking outside the box, seems like it's much more rare than it should be.
Really cool to see how different styles of play like Zelot has can work at the pro level. I love seeing those aggressive plays and calculated risks and the mind games. So good.
I honestly think the audio and the video are actually perfect. Keep it up, love ya RT_! There is nothing more that I want from a Brood war tournament cast.
Kinda surprised Zelot gg'd in game 5 at that point. He had enough sunks to stay alive, and could have gone up to 3 hatch. Royal had lost a lot of economy. I think the game state was maybe only 2:1 favored for Royal at that point.
iv been watching zelots youtube channel. where he teaches you how get go s rank. well lemme just say hes way awesome. he levels s ranked opponents with 100 apm videos. this fisrt game was amazing. so refreshing to see the muscle zerg style . went from 9 pool.aswell. what an absolute champ.
I always thought that mixed builds with mm, valks, goliaths and tanks were the future. It’s super flexible, as you can transition into anything, and offers a super strong timing push because you save so much on turrets. I realize the upgrades are going to be very late, though.
Thanks Arty for your hard work! One thing I noticed, is that the colour saturation looks to be off in these games. It seems like there is more contrast in videos from ASL matches. Audio seems to be ok, however, I'd prefer just your commentary, without Korean casting underneath it.
Arty letting it be known "Starcraft is like poker! Not like chess!" but that's a very opening-centric view! In long macro games it's much more rare to see your opponent hide something on you whereas every poker hand that comes down to a showdown is basically a pure unknown. Plus poker has no equivalent to different positional structures the way Starcraft has with its different maps and chess has with different pawn structures
Amazing job as always Artosis, sick series, continue the good work. Also would like to see some game casting on stream!! It would be sick, you could double dip and cast a game on stream and upload the cast on youtube. In any case, much love 4 you and your family.
You're right about the Chess analogy not being a good one, however, there are chess variants like "Hidden Identity Chess" that would be a better approximation to StarCraft strategy. For ex, you don't know which of the pieces is the king, so this is similar to the base not being discovered yet.
Just wanted to say, you are literally the Phil Helmuth of starcraft! He gets soooo angry that he says things like "if luck wasn't involved, I'd win every hand" 😂😂😂 love your casts BTW, you in your own games.... hmm 😒 🤔
I think aspects of Starcraft resemble chess, even though the games aren't all that similar overall, and I think the same about poker. Starcraft isn't much like poker, but in a few important ways, it really is. Maybe a better comparison is the game of Stratego, where you can choose how to arrange your own pieces in secret. So it still has the aspect of poker that is misrepresenting your hand, but it also has the aspect of chess that involves deeply studying openings and using long-term planning. It's also kind of like table tennis, requiring extreme speed, technique, manual dexterity, and quick reactions, as well as endurance to some extent.
The comparison to poker is a very good one I think, and this is a game that we can actually "solve" with game theory as well in order to get out of the infinite loop. Basically both sides should randomize their openings at set probabilities given the win % it gives them. So taking the 4-pool example you have (4-pool, normal) vs. (wall in, safe) as the match ups. You would have some win % of 4-pool vs. wall-in (say 99%) and vs. not wall-in (say 1%). Similarly you would have wall-in winning vs. non-4-pool at some % (maybe 53% as it gives a slight edge) and safe opening vs. normal maybe winning 50%. From that you could calculate the unexploitable way to pick your strategy. The correct answer in these situations is that Terran should go for safe build around half the time (so Zerg is indifferent to 4-pool and getting a free win) and zerg should almost always play normal but mix in 4-pool once in a while (like 1 in 30 games) to make sure Terrans don't just wall-in every game. So like you are onto the fact that Terrans are going wall-in almost every game should mean Zergs should just 4-pool rush all the time to punish them until the Terrans adjust
Production feedback: It would be helpful if you clearly stated at the beginning of any non-bo1 tournament match what format it is. Knowing whether it's e.g. bo3 or bo5 is required to tell whether a game is the decider, for example.
It's so funny. You don't realy can hear the SC FX and music, but still, the korean casters are actualy better then this pressuring silence from the first videos. I could imagin, it would be fine, if you just play the OSTs to one of the playing races, insted of the original sound from the matches, super quite. It would be enough background noise so it's not so super silence. You can't hear the soundeffects anyways 🤷♂ Edit: excapt of scans and stims. You can hear them and thats acutaly significant 🤔- I don't now. Maybe my idea is worth trying 🤷♂
As others said, the SSL could be taking our attention and views, as some of us have a limit of broodwar intake. So maybe its better to cast a minor league when the big league is not going on. And when the big league is going on, do the short what-is-flash-up-to casts.
I would liken SC more to MTG instead of chess or poker. In mtg, all colours have strengths and weaknesses. The three primary archetypes are aggro, midrange, and control. And each deck uses a certain strategy and gameplan to win. All decks can win or lose in most matchups, but it primarily comes down to the players understanding of the game, cards, and ability to solve the problems that are presented on the fly without perfect information.
1:10:06 - why doesn't Zelot fly his mutas in the main and start harassing SCVs? He lingers on the front porch of Royal for 2 minutes there, getting almost nothing done. Once he does fly in eventually, Arty praises it as a "good move" - isn't that always the point with mutas, to go into the worker lines and harass? As an sc2 zerg, it's insane to me that he waits for any time at all before diving in on the workers. I see that sc1 mutas are a bit tougher and can trade little better against the marines with good micro. But still, these few marine kills are peanuts compared to the worker kills and disrupted mining he could have gotten. He waited even despite having enough mutas to 1-shot SCVs. What gives?
comparing any 2 games so wildly different will have flaws, but I don't think chess is a good analogy. starcraft has elements of poker...but it's like poker except players choose their cards and instead of hands outright beating other hands the cards determine which weapons a player has before they fight...and then there's some kind of hand-eye coordination test before they choose their cards to determine the quality of the cards they can choose....but now I have created some bizarre bastardization of poker which kind of defeats the purpose of an analogy.
Too sad. First time I see Zelot getting hive, big deal for me because if he hadn't, surely he wouldn't have won that game. At the end, he lost because of the same, aggressiveness and nothing else.
Thank you for the cast Arty, love your content, it's one of the highlights of my daily routine.
ZeloT is such a fun player to watch.
If your idea of fun is the cheesiest most braindead shit imaginable.
Audio is perfect like this, btw. You can hear the game sound and music, but the Korean commentators are dim enough so they don't distract. *chefs kiss*
There is almost no game sound tf are you talking about
Farty’s voice is too loud over everything else, especially when he talks about random shit as game-deciding moments are happening
Are people just imagining sounds? I cannot hear anything aside from Korean casters
@@darkstrong4553 Yes they are louder than game sound so he has to reduce the volume so much you can't hear any game sound in the end. Hope next season they provide a clean feed.
@@darkstrong4553 Probably just worse hearing or audio setup, I can hear units dying and siege tanks firing just fine.
35:20, Artosis starts talking to Tasteless even though he's casting by himself ;D
lol
i didnt catch that haha
The blown out coloration makes me feel like I just got out of the pool and have chlorine in my eyes
43:32 CHILLS
I think game 2 was pure clanmate mindgames! That to me is the only explanation for how perfectly Royal read that opening!
On that map specifically its quite common to wall exactly as royal did because you can bug a couple lings through the backdoor and go up that ramp and be annoying in the main base if terran tries to wall in front of the natural. Plus the natural is pretty wide open so you cant full wall there (I think)
Its actually strange he did the 4 pool on that map, of all maps.
Great work and thanks for the games!!
Royal was really interesting to watch. It's nice to see a pro using his brain and thinking outside the box, seems like it's much more rare than it should be.
Happy to see that these games are back!
I'm getting some chills too, arty
Korean speakers sound like background laughter in a sitcom, they compliment your explantions by addong emotions...wow...omg...
Really cool to see how different styles of play like Zelot has can work at the pro level. I love seeing those aggressive plays and calculated risks and the mind games. So good.
Artosis getting chills again was my Avengers portal moment
Excellent commentary and insights!
FUCKING CHILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its my boy, Chilliam Shakespear
How exciting. With that prize pool, the winners should be able to at least get themselves a Taco Bell value meal.
Chills: gotten by Artois
Like button: smashed by me
I honestly think the audio and the video are actually perfect. Keep it up, love ya RT_! There is nothing more that I want from a Brood war tournament cast.
Just say you find it tolerable, no need to embellish it. Having actual game audio would be preferred
It's been so cool seeing the recent meta developments in brood war, can't wait to see what things are like in another few years
Thank you for bringing back the chills, I needed them. Audio is perfect as well.
I think its pretty cool you read the real names of the players alongside their tags
Duuuuude wow. I’ve never seen Royal play like that 👏🏻
Arty your chills are genuine and good, that's why we like them
Every Video i wait for the momentt Arty gets Chills, which I gotta say.. gives me the chills!
Interesting thoughts regarding the comparison of starcraft with chess and poker. Thank you for the cast!
I don't skip the adds when watching Artosis Casts.
Arty, thanks for casting these games!

32:00 Ah yes, the ol' sideways SCV strafe maneuver to confuse the Zerg
Great set of games thanks Arty
The combined arms strat on 3rd match was soo goooood.
the way that scv skated upwards @ 32:00
good eye :D
Good sound balance, like people have said.
Wow Game 1 was great! Some very different builds/compositions in this series
Great series, great casting! Prefer the first 3 videos that just had the music. Would be great if you got replays or clean feed for next season!

Winter is coming. i'm getting chills.
I’m new here. Really enjoyed this series.
more tournaments is always good, lets go!
this was a great match every single game was clutch.
Great cast, most fun TvZ series in a long time.
Really loving this one.
This was a really good series
Winter is coming and Ive already got chills
Sometimes tvz gets soooo old. Really glad to see an interesting series that isnt just mutas and marines.
Thanks Arty for your hard work! One thing I noticed, is that the colour saturation looks to be off in these games. It seems like there is more contrast in videos from ASL matches. Audio seems to be ok, however, I'd prefer just your commentary, without Korean casting underneath it.
Zerg is so HYPE! almost got an infested CC!
More tournaments the better !

It has elements of both poker and chess, as well as other games like Battleship or Stratego with limited information and positioning.
At the end of the day the thing that comes closest is good old regular war, but even that analogy has certain flaws.
Amazing job as always Artosis, sick series, continue the good work. Also would like to see some game casting on stream!! It would be sick, you could double dip and cast a game on stream and upload the cast on youtube. In any case, much love 4 you and your family.
He’s tried to cast on stream it gets ruined by vulgar TTS
Getting chills for good reason 😅

there's also a fog of war variant that you can play online, where you can only see what your pieces see.
Thanks for casting this RT, do what feels right. Assuming you still only read comments on the toilet
Action vs Leta on Eclipse is S12 Ro 24 Group E first match 😊
This is the canon way to play Zerg.
Just wanted to say, you are literally the Phil Helmuth of starcraft! He gets soooo angry that he says things like "if luck wasn't involved, I'd win every hand" 😂😂😂 love your casts BTW, you in your own games.... hmm 😒 🤔
think that last game couldve gone the other way if he noticed the one valk had almost no health left before waiting so long to target it
Very dinamic start ❤
great series!
Honestly at times Pros are there own worst enemy trying to squeeze out every little advantage to the point it becomes detrimental loool😂

*have we missed any of the PSL matches yet? there were only 4 matches in the previous round?*
Arti doesn't know that Goliath Range has a visual animation indicator with the blue lights effect. hahaha
just noticed 2 of the maps have the AMD logo in the center of them lol

god i love zelots super agro style

Yeah just having the music in the background would be better
I miss the old 'valkyries getting picked off as soon as they're built so the terran never has more than 1' meta 😢

Nice 3rd game awesome
I prefer game music in the background over korean casters. You barely hear any in-game sounds anyways
I have an important question. If his name is ZeloT, why does he play zerg
What if you just turned off the audio and made the game sounds with your mouth?
What happened to that scv at 32:00 min?
When you stop a 4 pool, your SUV gets happy and does a little dance
Love your casting, sound is perfect now! Of course the actual replay files are always better but you made the best out of what we got. :)
GGs
Louder game sounds please
tbh, the audio has been fine to me on all of them, but then i can listen to a bunch of stuff at once so /shrug
~BW 4 EVER~
