  • Howdy! fellow adventurers. We got enough feedback from Ep:14 on the main channel to pull that one down. All the time we've spent over the years with Scooter Tramp Scotty--and later on with our own adventures--exploring (and often staying in and on) abandoned properties has made me and the beagle a little too loosy-goosey with land rights. That property didn't have any signs up, but it didn't have to either. From here on, we'll stick to churches and landscapes. I wanted to make sure some of the footage from that stretch of the river was captured and shared for future finders of the channel (hence the redundant footage for those that saw Ep:14). As a last resort, we can always blame the beagle;) Thanks for putting up with us. That's more than a saying here on BWBRs, it's a way of life. ;)

I have zero locking experience but watching another looper channel I learned that those floating pins sometimes get stuck causing your boat to hang from your lines. They recommend using a quick release knot or keeping a knife on hand….
    Thanks again for sharing!!!

@@brentonsriversidehermitage That's the sign of a true person who cares...being harder on yourself than probably anyone else. Too many people really don't care about others and are very inconsiderate. The world would be a better place if we were more considerate of others (but not to the detriment of our own health and happiness). I have heard (and often repeated) that most people on the internet would never say the things they say in person because it might mean getting punched in the mouth. But the keyboard warriors love to try to make others feel less...even though the vast majority of people would never even contemplate the journey you are on. You are putting yourself at risk on your journey and exploring so many things most will never see and that makes people feel inferior deep down because they know they are not courageous enough to do it. And you are showing your trip, including the follies and missteps, for all to see and critique. Keep on going and enjoy yourself. Life is supposed to be fun and full of struggles, failures (learning experiences), and victories. And thanks again for bringing us along. By the way, I am in Navarre, FL (between Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach) and you will be passing within a mile or so of my house when you go by. If you want to message me, I can maybe meet you and pass you some treats for the pup or help you get some supplies if you need them. Or, I may be out fishing and see you drive by and give you a wave. LOL! --Brent

4:40. I watched that boat working for a while before you passed through. They were doing some kind of research. They had a line stretched across that they were using to make some type of measurements. They took it down for you to pass through. It went back up right after.

What kind of boat is the Beagle Barge built on? You have sparked an interest. What boat type would you recommend for building or rebuilding a shanty? Thanks for any advice. Please keep the videos coming.

    • @brentonsriversidehermitage

Hi JD, nutshell: 30x8.6 welded aluminum work barge built in lousiana in the 80s. Seems to be a hard size to find. Probably custom built. The easiest path to shanty is a bigger pontoon with deep toons and/or tri toon. Gonna need the lift for a cabin build. I've got loads of back catalog with much of this discussed here and there, including build series for the barge and the original shanty boat beagle adventure set up which was a 26 foot catamaran cruiser trailerable houseboat. You can email me if you want. Sometimes it tale a bit to get back to folks right now (never been this in demand) but I do...every one of them ;) thanks for putting up with us. I mean it.

ISO flat barge similar to yours. Want to put my 8'x18.5' NASH Trailer on it. Pontoons are not sturdy enough. Flatbottom boats neither. Prefer steel or thick aluminum. Naturally, Australia has many super cool DIY modular barge suppliers. Not USA.

There seems to be some in lousiana. They build and use a lot of aluminum work boats there.
