    Don't often see a pannier review, and I like them. And these are really good panniers. Love the way they attach on to the bike.

      I was really impressed with them and thought they deserved a separate video for a more in depth look!

    These rad looking easy to attach panniers are one of the reason why I bought my GT

    Don't see reviews on the factory paniers. Very informative as they are part of the standard kit here in the US. And the paniers are a selling point for me

      Yea I found them really good so figured it was worth looking over them in a video!

    I wish they sold a very slim set of panniers for everyday non touring ...just maybe 3" making it almost like it has no panniers and yet would easily hold some drinks and lunch on one side and maybe a folded garmet or rain gear on the other side. I dont keep my panniers on this bike unless I need to haul stuff....I just dont like the bulk/look ...I also dont like the giant top box hanging way back there they just look yuck if you ask me All I normally use is 1060 Rigg tailbag which clips on an off in two seconds although obviously in the seat you cant really haul a passenger ...I mean you could get a rack and put the bag on that...I like hauling as little as possible I dont get people adding a 100 pounds extra guards and storage and doo dadsto an already significantly porky motorsycle! The tracer IS the identical platform as the MT09 (same frame engine and wheels) but already weighs SEVENTY pounds MORE than the base platform!

      That'd be a cool option, some super narrow panniers for travelling light. Needing the storage I got use to the big topbox, but they aren't the most sightly of additions to a bike!

    Hi, what is the capacity of the panniers? I am browsing yamaha website but 30-35-50 L does not actually point out which is the size that can hold a full faced hemlet

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Год назад +1

      They should both be 30L and both be able to carry a full face helmet, on the GT or if you buy the Yamaha genuine panniers for the regular Tracer 9. The 50L would be the top box.

    I do not know what size your helmet is but my Large HJC Rpha 11 does not fit in the panniers.

      I'm running a medium in a Shoei Hornet ADV there, but shell sizes can vary between helmets/brands/sizes.

    As I see... this bike has the comfort seat. Did you rode it also with the standard one? If so, did you notice any difference?

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to do a proper comparison, as the comfort seat was already fitted, and I like to do a proper comparison video when I can on stuff like that.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Год назад +1

      These are the genuine Yamaha hard panniers, you can probably order them through any Yamaha stockist.

    Hi sir . I did notice that the tracer 9 gt pennier is much more longer then the handlebar .. one of my friend have difficulties to lane split due to the pennier will scratch someone car

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Год назад

      I thought it was the same as the bars as they are quite wide, but you can weave bars through obstacles easily! Getting panniers through with the same method... not so much.

  • @myousic4564

    Hi! Are you sure you can't use side panniers and top box at the same time? I know it can be an issue with pillion(weight limits) but I don't see any other reasons not to use both when riding alone.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  2 года назад

      It's not that you can't, they just don't recommend it. From the Yamaha website with one of the top boxes: "Not recommended for use in combination with side cases due to increased risk of overloading the motorcycle." I think the load recommendation is also quite low on most panniers and topboxes, like only 5 kg. There's also a max speed recommendation with them fitted from memory too. Obviously it's probably a legal precaution, but also if you do it anyway and you snap off* a topbox, or pannier, or crash from overloading the bike, you'll probably get an "we told you so". Lots of weight in a topbox off the back of the bike can have quite a detrimental effect to handling alone.

    • @myousic4564
      @myousic4564 2 года назад +1

      @@MotoJournoKris ok, thanks. I think it's only the weight factor so you do have to watch out but only when you travel with pillion. The weight limits are a joke - my current k53 has max load bout 8kg and the mounting plate's limit is about 5kg. Max speed is 120. I did 180 with box weighting 15kg and it worked fine :) Ok, I'm ordering top box with my new tracer :)

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  2 года назад

      @@myousic4564 Definitely, I used to run 15 kg easy in the top box on my FZ6N years ago. I did notice on the Daytona with the Ventura rack loaded right up and not turned back over the pillion seat that was enough weight to cause issues, taking too much weight off the front. But touring bikes and similar should be much more suited to the job.

    • @myousic4564
      @myousic4564 2 года назад

      @@MotoJournoKris I did about 3000km on FZ8S with fully loaded top box and it was fine :) Imagine my face when I was cleaning the bike after coming back from that trip and I noticed a little sticker on the mounting plate saying "max load 5kg" :D

    • @dougiequick1
      @dougiequick1 2 года назад

      that is the Suzuki GT you cant do that with as I recall ...pretty sure the Tracer is fine with it although the limitations are really strict as to the weight limits

  • @dougiequick1
    @dougiequick1 2 года назад +1

    It might take 5 seconds once you know how IF you remember how even after you learn ....trouble is it is NOT simple to understand just looking at it in otherwords NOT user friendly ...some things are duhh just looking at em but not these...I fumble around everytime and get mad everytime....there is no reason they cant engineer things to be plainly duhh simple even for the scatter brained....and it is not just me because many reviewers of the T9gt have also complained about these

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  2 года назад

      I mean it's about as simple a design as you can get. A locking mechanism that integrates mount lock, pannier lock and handle, plus lining up the mounts. When you do it right, it's as simple as can be. There's just a little finesse required. They could split those features out to make them individually simpler, however then it's an inelegant design, wastes space, increases the time required, and people would complain about that.
