  • Here we were able to capture several parts of a successful rebuild... the turbo is working well, it pulls a load fine, but Lane thinks the exhaust brake feels weak... also he had the code 2262 return (a couple weeks after the rebuild) when towing a load, he was descending a hill and when the exhaust brake kicked on the 2262 code popped up. We think most likely it is the actuator, since the sound of the actuator does not sound normal. We don't know the history on the actuator, it could be factory original with 300k, and just be tired out. MOST of the time the actuator is the problem with these VGT turbos, although soot buildup can cause the nozzle to stick (which also quickly ruins the actuator) or a "filter" tab has broken off (like on my 2012) can jam the nozzle and trigger the 2262 code.

Yes, Great question, I did not replace my "nozzle seal ring" because it wasn't damaged, and my turbo had low miles, and my nozzle fit easily in and out of the nozzle seal ring, and the nozzle seal ring had good range of motion. Honestly, I couldn't figure out how it came out. I tried and tried to get that stupid snap ring out. I decided if I was going to remove it in the future I would just have to cut it carefully, so I didn't damage the turbo housing. But idk for sure if that would even work. Sorry bro, I did a lot of research trying to find how that stupid thing came out, but at the time I couldn't find anything either. I wish I had an answer for you

Those nozzle rings have amazing wear resistance!

Yes, as stated in the video at the very beginning. That video would literally take hours 🙂
