    Great video detailing what you are facing, and I have a C5 also. Although not an expert, I spend a lot of time figuring out engine and aero solutions. The radiator cooling duct is a "bottom feeder" but also takes advantage of the high pressure on the front bumper to flow some the lower air into the radiator intake without separating the flow. Hence why it is curved going up into the radiator underneath. By putting a splitter on, even if you have the cut out underneath, you are forcing that front pressure to go up, around and over the car. Look at some pictures of the C5R and you will see they got around this by putting a large rectangular cooling inlet above the splitter. Hope this helps!

      @car-nivores  3 года назад +2

      You're correct, but the reason the c5 R has to have that cooling duct is because their splitter is closer to the ground for more downforce. This splitter is still close to the bumper and allows proper flow like stock. I chose to go this route because of the daily drivabiltiy. If it becomes a legit race car, it'll look just like the c5r lol

    Aerodynamics is very important for not just grip but control over the car itself, theres a fine balance that can be tuned to what you want out of a car. Wether it's a wedge shape car or a cinderblock mini van these simple aero parts will make a huge difference.

    Great info 👍iam a Porsche man just bought a c5 corvette convertible, don't like the bottom feeder setup, looked at the newer radiator setup, going to cut the bumper opening for airflow, removing radiator cover ,add a block off cover to the top to force all the airflow to go through the radiator and over the motor, also add a tunnel ram for the airflow to exit. Your vents works great,but iam adding a super charger.all my cars have aftermarket all metal radiators,they work alot better than the plastic ones.

  • @LogicLurker
    @LogicLurker 4 года назад +1

    surely there would be an element of heat soak with the stock intake and stock hood? also must be very susceptible to sucking up water from the road? RAM would be a great option. could you also open the vents behind the front wheels to reduce engine bay temps? Sorry if this may be an obvious comment but where I live we don't get vettes :( Keep up the awesome work guys! Love the channel

      Yup it really does get hot under there. I've never had an issue with sucking up water. And to be honest I have no idea what those vents do other than look cool 😅

    Hey bro nice vette I had one before let me give you a tip my vette ran at 168° at night and at 180 doing the day in Floridas sun you need to get a 150° thermostat and a 3inch aluminum radiator that helps out a lot 👍👍👍

    • @car-nivores

      I dont have any heating issues atm. But I have heard of that thermostat trick and it is definitely in the plans. Thanks for the tip!!

    I would be worried about water 💦 going into the vents. We have a rain season. My car sits just under 220F° on a hot FL day.
