- I managed to stuff double what I paid for this Corvette back into it over the last year. I "thought" I got a good deal. Now we go back in time to look at every single thing I have ever done to this car and sort out where all my money went while in attempt to build the coolest C5 corvette to ever hit the public roads. Beautiful car. Don't feel too bad about spending the money on your ride. It's something that makes you happy and it's not hurting anybody. When you get married and have kids, and you're paying a mortgage you will be glad you did this.

@@PerformanceOnWheels Yup, and when you get married and have kids, the only thing that will make you happy is the car....you will be spending a lot of time in the garage!....take it from on older guy that divorced his cheating wife 25 years ago and had to pay her a lot of money after the divorce.
My 6 speed C5 is supercharged and has brought me more happiness than any women I have been with.
Or you could just pick a better life mate & not ruin it by foregoing the kids. Then the toys are limitless and all yours!

"makes so many people happy" I AGREE. I've had a C5 since 2009. I'm still comfortable behind the wheel.
This video popped up, so I watched it... sounds perfect! Personally I'd wrap the CF body panels to match, or just wrap the whole car to not worry about keeping the black paint perfect all the time!

I got one local 300 all day for oem
I've got about 13500 into my c5 convertible 6 speed including the purchase and many new parts. It is near completely sorted out. Also came with a perfect paint job that doesn't even look like it was repainted. The new parts include Toyo tires, ebc slotted rotors with red stuff pads, new radiator, new battery, new oil pan gasket, new clutch master cylinder, new rocker arms, new oil pressure sensor, HID high and low beams, many other small and cost effective things. Also, changed every single fluid.
The exhaust dangle is genuinely one of the most obnoxious things on these cars.
Mine doesnt jiggle(giggity) like yours does, but it is uneven

Great funny video, some people will really never understand how much money and time it takes to build a car with quality parts. This video makes me miss my procharged C5 Z06 only had 40k miles and was mint condition. I sold it like a dummy for 20k biggest regret of my life.

I had a C5 and then got a C6Z and I've always said if I were doing an all out build it would be on a C5
Check out the column lock bypass switch. Should fix your pull key and wait 10 sec. Super easy install under dash. Super cheap. I think you can find a plug and play harness version if I remember right. I bought the bypass back In like 2003 so it's been a minute. Still have my C5 though :)

I had a broken rocker arm. I didn't even know it until i replaced the lower oil pan gasket and found a bunch of needle bearings. Im glad that i found all of them. There was absolutely zero valvetrain noise that I noticed.
I’m definitely glad I did mine and I’m unsure as to why BTR told me that’s not a common issue at all…

The exhaust hang could be due to the rubber in your exhaust hangers being worn out. If you can find some in decent shape, buy them. If not, buy the inserts from Corvette Clips and modify your existing hangers.
It’s because the hanger that’s actually on my exhaust snapped off at the weld and everything I’ve done to hold it has not worked because it shakes so violently
Cool Vette...too bad you can only drive it for five weeks a year in Minnesota

I have a 2005 sierra4x4 I paid 4800$ and I had to replace everything I have 14k into it only thing that wasn’t replaced is the engine and transmission at this point and my engine is ticking now so … ya . Btw I rebuild my rear end new posi and 373 due to old owner stealing the rear end before selling the truck to me and putting the wrong gears into the truck . Front differential was replaced because I thought it was my issue . Currently lookin at a full rebuild and cam for my truck with install and tune for 4500$

ugh I hate those powerstop brakes. I have them on my c5 and they stop worse than the OEM and have more dust
Really? I've put them on many cars now.. never had an issue even on track days. Maybe you need to put in higher end fluid. Id recommend a full flush with DOT 5 but that does not explain your brake dust.
@@PerformanceOnWheels I had fresh dot 3/4 valvoline fluid in the system and it didn’t do help at all, the pads and rotors im my opinion aren’t worth it. I’m upgrading to C6Z brakes soon, I just have to get the car running again lol

You could have a very nice C7 or 8 right now. You will never get any of this money back selling this car. I have a 1984 C4 I put alot of money in but am ready to sell it very nice blue fiber glass inside and out.
I most definitely am no where nearing having a C7 or C8 with 30 grand lol… maybe a high mileage base C7. Good thing I’m never selling it. However if I did it should be worth 25-28k.. I do love the blue on C4s
You can spend money on these. I've probably spent more than 40,000 dollars on mine, light rims, C6z brakes, ultra light racing seats, then Supercharger, stroke LS motor, etc., etc. I never think about what the resale value is because I'm building this for myself. My friend has a Ferrari 812 and a Lamborghini Huracan and they're definitely not faster than my C5, that's nice if anything haha!

@@PerformanceOnWheels not that I think I mean I turn everything off and even get out and check it to make sure everything is turned off before I leave the car but the battery still dies. Could be a bad battery?
@princeswisher704 that would be my guess. Unless it’s an issue with the low beam/ high beam set up which I personally had an issue with

Im not a fan of the c5 base at all. Don’t like the rear body lines. FRC is the only one I like
@@PerformanceOnWheels The FRC was intended to be the poor mans model but for weight savings they made it the ZO6 model. Its still lame looking to me but we all have our preferences don't we. Have a good day.

This is a cool build but I did not click on a build video to watch a guy complain about how expensive it was for the entirety of the video. Car modifying is expensive. We know that.

though. I don't have it with a procharger and and for some reason it doesn't require oil changes. has two baby seats in the back and has won three no prep street races against trailered race cars .

It would be close race. The stock c5 z06 takes the nurburgring in 7:56. But since this one has way more power than stock and way more grip it should be low 7's. The model S plaid has ran the nurburgring in 7:25. Pretty crazy a car designed in the 90s with upgrades can take on the fastest cars of the 2020s. And the C5 at half the price of a used plaid.

EVs struggle after 3 at the ring. The extremely high power output modes deplete the batteries absurdly fast.

non pained bare carbon fiber just ant my thing do not get it fiberglass it just as good really in most cases and tougher more i bet to not realize this
I have 20in wheels on the rear for my 02 C5 but the rear right side keeps scraping on my fender , any clue on how to stop that ?
If you mean on the inside, get a spacer. If on the top, raise the car or get new shocks

Ever heard of an exhaust hanger with a rubber insulator?
The issue is, the hanger on the actual exhaust itself broke. The weld broke and everything I’ve done since has not worked at all
Love the C5's had a 03 Z06 with a Novi centrifugal on it with a million other mods was alot of fun have a C7 Grand Sport now N/A currently but it's modded well so it still rolls out I estimate it to be close to 500 or more rwhp conservatively
My uncle has a C7 GS.. have a lot of behind the wheel time in those cars. Super fun! Ride a lot nicer around town too.
I'm wating for the next Reeves Callaway dude to build a reliable a 250mph C5 or C6.
Paid $34 for my c6z, already had heads/cam done and was 18k miles 😅 this was pre covid though

I'm not even into cars and watched the whole video. It's cool you did most of the work on your own. I'd like to know your estimate of the cost if you would have had the work billed out. You prob saved a ton of money, not to mention all the ebay scores. I freaking love ebay.

beautiful work brother! the exhaust tip hanging on my c6 does the same but its supercharged and the force it generates on corvettes through the exhaust are no joke, breaks any welded hooks from the sheer vibration lol

Is it a Billy Boat exhaust? Their exhaust hangers suck. I had the same issue with a set of Bullets on a '99 silver coupe I used to have. The welds at the hangers broke within 4 years. Like you I "fixed it" three times. Car was modestly modified with headers,Vararam, and 3.90 gear.
And I've had Borla Stingers on my black '99 with 640whp/568rwtq coupe for 23 years and they are still perfect.
Ditch the exhaust with the sh!t welds. Not worth the annoyance.

Your BTR Stage 3 chops way harder than my Texas Speed Torquer V4. Sweet car. Do an A&A V3-Ti kit and E85 next; you will not regret it.

I highly highly highly recommend doing heads cam. To prevent a valve from dropping in the future. Very common unfortunately on the LS7
