Paul was only 26 when he wrote this song & had only just turned 27 when the Beatles finished recording their last album - Abbey Road. It is mind blowing what The Beatles achieved in 7 short years.
Nobody can touch the Beatles. They are by far the greatest group ever. I always loved this song and Paul was always my fav Beatle. I was actually fortunate enough to see him in concert about 8 years ago and he put on a hell of a show.
@@davidcohen7146 I saw Paul In Dec 2017 in Auckland NZ... Greatest concert ever. My Father actually cooked for the Beatles and drank with them in 1964 when they stayed at the hotel he worked at in Chiristchurch NZ. My mother recalled that she received a phone call from my father telling her he'd be home late because he was drinking with The Beatles...
Yea yea yea his nod to The Beatles who the song is really about.
Been listening to them for 59 yrs...this is flawless; an emotional work of art.
Perhaps the most beautiful Beatles song, at least IMHO. An absolute masterpiece.
Personally the most beautiful for me is Here There and Everywhere, but this one is a truly masterpiece
This, She's Leaving Home, A Day In The Life, and Hey Jude are my favorite ballad style songs from The Beatles!
Poetry through and through
One of the benefits of having all four members songwriting on their own, and all 4 can sing. The songs all sound unique. No 2 Beatles songs sound similar. This is a Paul song, a year before the end of the band. (Lennon was the 1st to call it quits for good)
Yes it's Paul singing lead. Good job!
Try the Beatles song Yesterday..... it's a classic!!!!
All 4 members wrote songs but the Lennon-McCartney partnership is the most famous.
Ringo never wrote a song🤗
@@Jovolution Yes he did, "Octopus's Garden" and "Don't Pass Me By"
@@patticrichton1135 and credits on What Goes On
Ringo wrote a song, I don’t think so?
This song is wonderful!!!
This is the saddest song of the Beatles career because it was released few months after the Beatles broke up officially
a month later (and a single later too)
😢😢😢
One may say it was a part of the break up. Because Paul didn't at all approve of the orchestral and choir addition that the rest of the band had allowed Phil Spector to add. Paul intended it to be a pure band piece.
Paul wrote this on a hotel piano from what I recall. The Beatles music changed drastically in less than a decade. Everyone was playing catch-up. The greatest ever.
Yes it IS sung by Paul McCartney and he wrote it. The Beatles were very versatile in their songwriting, not just love songs, they also rocked, did many styles of music. You haven't even scratched the surface. They wrote over 250 songs, and they are all different.
There is a version without all of the orchestration, which is the version that Paul McCartney preferred.
I'm sorry, Paul McCartney, but love the orchestral wall of sound!
Paul should know best. And I agree with him. Phil Spector went to soapy.
@@sarahfullerton6894 So do I, and he's my favorite Beatle, but the "naked" version doesn't evoke the emotions in it that THIS version does, have been a fan since the beginning.
@@patticrichton1135 , that's exactly why I love the orchestral version. I understand Paul's aversion tonot, as that wasn't his vision for his song, yet I can't help loving the beautiful depth we get here!
While I appreciate the naked version, this version is the one I know from the beginning and I think the orchestra really elevated the song.
The lasting beauty of this song is found in the orchestrations. The strings, horns, and placed a just the right moments. Beautiful. A masterpiece.
Sometimes I think, Paul is singing about John or the Beatles.
Yes! Agree
Minha favorita em todo o mundo.
Cuando lo escuche en la pelicula yesturdey me emicione
I really pity you folk that didn't grow up on the beatles, greatest band that ever existed.
Every Beatles song is different.
First timer seeing you. Love you both.
Listen to Yesterday written by Paul in 1965 and is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most covered song in history over 3000 times and many by the like of Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra and many others, then listen to the Beatles written by Joun & Paul and also sang by Paul from 1967 'Helter Skelter" don't get shocked by the difference because that was the magical greatness of the Beatles, THEY CAN DO IT ALL!
More Beatles pls
check the "Let it be Naked" version which is waaay better, Paul always hated this version, the 'naked' version is what he wanted the song to be (without the orchestra)
I love this version better than the "naked" version.
It may not be Pauls vision and i do have understanding and respect for that as a songwriter myself but at the same time i think this version is perfect.
❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤
One of the most beautiful songs ever written with George Martin aranging the orchestra which too is incredibly beautiful but Paul wanted to sing it without the orchestration which there is a version of. Bee Gees ...great , Queen...great , Beatles on a totally different level, geniuses is not a good enough word. No one will ever surpass them.
Or The Bee Gees reminds you of The Beatles. :)
Correct🤗
Spot on!
bee gees copied beatles ffs
And this is the same and that wrote helter skelter, happiness a warm gun, yer blues, etc.. the Spectrum is what set them apart from everyone else
É difícil acreditar que depois de tantos anos alguém nao tenha ouvido os beatles
Recorded just with Paul and a guitar.. The orchestral background added later before release
The producer of the album was Phil Spector ..and I read that John Lennon wasn't happy about the orchestration and chorus included in many songs
Check out "Ebony And Ivory " By Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder!!!!!!!!!!!
Paul has stated that he disliked the mix of this song, which was done without him present. His 2002 live version is much more powerful ruclips.net/video/pn-y27j39Xg/видео.html
I don`t think the full orchestra is too bad but those wailing voices just ruin it .
There last number one song.
Paul McCartney, is singing.
It IS Paul McCartney singing.
Reminds you of the BeeGees?
I just read a new book I recommend you check out. The author claims that a guy named Christopher Columbus discovered America...
Paul hated the orchestration and heavenly choir, which were added by Phil Spector later
Song about break up...
Listen to Eleanor Rigby!
Guys your assessment about all the Beatles writing the songs is incorrect. The majority of there songs were either written by Paul or John and sung by the two of them. George was the bests musician of the group though and a heck of a writer In his own right but Paul and John were the two leaders of the group.
What universe have you two been in if you don't know about The Beatles only the biggest rock and pop group in the world even as far as I'm concerned bigger than Elvis Presley simply because they wrote their own material most of it
FYI.. your voice levels are way too loud compared to the music. Great reaction tho
