This is a run through that is more stripped down, which is what Paul wanted originally. The idea of Get Back sessions was to strip down the orchestration and have four guys just playing their instruments with no studio tricks. Phil Spector went in and smothered the tracks in strings and choirs, especially this particular track, which Paul was livid about. If you haven't already, google Let It Be Naked, which Paul remixed back in 2013. The tracks are similar to the rehearsal tracks in that they are much more simple. I actually like the Paul version better!
@Martyn Davies. Yes, but his version, heard on "Let it Be Naked" sounds like a Wings B-side. Spector bailed that song out, and McCartney's pride couldn't take it.
John Lennon was grateful because Phil Spector "...was given the s***tiest load of badly recorded s***, with a lousy feeling toward it, ever. And he made something out of it. He did a great job."
It was the last song they ever released. That last week in January they couldn't stand to be in the same room together and McCartney who wrote the song was addicted to heroin and Phil Spectre was determined to make it Motown which McCartney hated and to make everything worse they were being followed by a film crew for Let It Be. This stripped back version is what McCartney wrote and envisaged.
Being a southerner you would love Paul's video/conversation with Carl Perkins, the father of Rockabilly. He was a share cropper child, only white family in the little group of shacks. He was a huge influence on the very young Beatles. He combined country music with the gospel the blacks in the fields would sing. He loved that music. Search "McCartney and Carl Perkins." It will warm your heart. Two old friends who met in 1962.
The song is beautiful it made me cry
Top ONE!!! songwriter in the world, no one else is close!!! Apart from his good friend John.
John, RIP. I think this song is about John, no?
it's good to see someone let the music do the talking instead of interrupting and spoiling the moment, thank you!

the most beautiful song
The Beatles!
on the album, Let it Be, The orchestral part, by Phil Spector, was put in at the end of the song without Pauls permission. He hated it.

This has been on my top songs shortlist since forever.
Paul McCartney does sing lead on this song but it is the Beatles not Paul McCartney by himself
It doesn't sound right. Must be an outtake.

i'm just a good ol' country boy. yeee ha !
You should listen to album

This is the way McCartney intended it to be. No big orchestras and choirs. Those things were added afterward and he didn't approve of it.
