I love quite a few bands. But no one can deny The Beatles really have something unique. I cannot get bored with listening to them after more than 4 decades.

It's such a great song and forever surrounded by controversy. McCartney wasn't a fan (to say the least) of the production applied to it. He created it as a piano ballad. Regardless, with this and Let It Be, McCartney created two of the most classic songs there are. With your understanding of The Beatles, you're ready to watch the movie Yesterday. 🙂
Many Beatle fans who had the original single love this version, as I do. I think the stripped-down version just sounds unfinished and even a bit lame in comparison. I like and prefer all the Phil Spector-produced song versions on "Let It Be." If Paul and the other Beatles didn't, they should have taken a more active role in the finished product.

Paul intended this to be much simpler. It was mixed with the orchestral and choral backgrounds without his knowledge and when he heard it he hated it. Tou bad because I love it.
This is the album that almost wasn't. The sessions, typically referred to as 'The Get Back Sessions', were marred by the deteriorating relationships within the band. It was also hampered by the constant presence of a film crew who had one set of daytime hours while the Beatles preferred working at night. They, mostly John and George, were not happy having to come in 'like a job' at 8 AM, etc. By the end of the sessions and the legendary rooftop concert, they were sick of the tracks and put them on a shelf with no idea what to do with them. Then they proceeded to recording 'Abbey Road'. Much later, John got Phil Spector to come in and try to piece together an album out of the shelved tracks. Paul was apparently not too aware of what was going on because of their band dysfunction. After he heard what Phil did to this track, he was livid. Frankly, I like what Phil did. I've heard what Paul intended on bootlegs and other sources. It had a bipolar quality that doesn't seem to gel for me. Anyway, Paul must have gotten over his problem with the production because he tends to imitate it in concert.
Hey Cynthia this is very different to "I am the Walrus" and is such a wonderful song. Really this band could turn their hand to any music style and made it sound amazing, so diverse. It is a long and winding road from the simple love songs they started with. Great reaction and thank you.

There are records now of these same songs but done more in the style of previous Beatles albums & NOT Spector's.

It’s a very pretty thing.
Phil Spector did the orchestral arrangements and final production. McCartney disliked it. I think it's far better than McCartney's basic vision of it.
