  • Hello Everyone, I hope you are having a lovely Bank Holiday. This railway journey to visit the least used stations of Cumbria has long been on my bucket list. I often refer to my copy of ‘Pearson’s Railway Rides (1992)’ when setting out on a journey along the Cumbrian Coast. The guide begins at Lancaster and features all of the stations, both large and small, along both the Furness and Cumbrian Coastal routes. Describing these tiny yet enchanting stations, the guide says ‘The tiny halts at Braystones and Nethertown are as remote as anything British Rail has to offer’ (the guide was published in the days before privatisation). It goes on to say ‘Access to Braystones from the outside world is restricted to a cart track. Nethertown Station seems suspended between the cliff face and the sands. Either destination would offer an immediate cure for any jaded city dweller. By and large, trains along the Cumbrian Coast route do not suffer from the sort of overcrowding experienced during the peak tourist season as neighbouring lines such as Settle to Carlisle’. I hope you enjoy watching the video as much as I enjoyed making it.

Not only fascinating video, but also an ASMR -like quality to them. I had to subscribe. Great work.

Thank you for this great video! You really have an extraordinary skillfullness to present the trains and landscapes in a both informative and artistically / photographically appealing way! I really enjoyed watching it 😊
Btw, I remember a "call barrier" (Anrufschranke) here nearby in a forest when I was a child (I am from Germany). My father took me there on his bike and then we called the train staff who opened the barrier for us. Nostalgic memories!
